  8. Groovanauts.com Party @ Glow FREE before 11pm on the Groovanauts.com list or with a printed or actual flyer! Prepare to shit your liver! the talent: COR FIJNEMAN (www.djcorfijneman.com) Opening sets by Groovanauts.com's ROYCE HAVEN & Yoshitoshi Artist SAMIO Royce Haven's music roots date back to his early years in NYC where he grew up listening to the electro pop, synth-driven sounds of the 80's and falling in love with the growing movement of HIP-HOP. It was in 89 after he moved to DC where he was first introduced to house music. Royce was given a mix tape by his fellow DJ friend, Omar. He instantly fell in love with the emotional and diverse sounds of Electronic Music. He promised Omar that one day he would also be a DJ. Royce is now fulfilling that promise holding a residencie in DC @ Pulse www.pulsedc.com, Dragonfly www.emcdc.com and spinning regularly at Glow, DC , Spank, DC, FIVE, DC and Groovanauts parties in NY. He has also been privileged enough to spin with some of today's hottest DJ's such as Max Graham and John '00' Flemming. If spinning is not enough, Royce keeps himself busy in his studio working on a EP with collaborations from Samio of Yoshitoshi and J-Punch of Global Underground. He has a diverse sound ranging from house, breaks, trance and techno. With his unique sound and talented mixing at the decks he is guaranteed to fill up the energy on any dance floor. Hailing from DC, Yoshitoshi Artist Samio has always been a driving force in the local underground scene. His unique style of house has helped maintain his legions of followers in the metropolitan area. Samio is a master at setting the tone early in the dance floor and building the energy up to a climax just like a storybook. He pulls you into the dance floor and keeps you there till your feet give out. As if spinning records weren't enough, Samio is also hard at work producing original tracks and remixes. This up and coming artist is credited for the success of Dean Coleman’s "Kontact," with his superb remix, which has paved the way for his future solo releases. Big things lie ahead for Samio. The fans will tell you, his sets are not to be missed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location: FUR Nightclub 33 Patterson Street N.E. 9. Believe it or not, Ikon is a completely different club, along with different staff and philosophy. The only thing that it has in common with the old Exit is the address. I really hope more people will give this place a chance.
  10. This should definitely be one of the best parties at Godskitchen thus far. Vic tore it up in the Pink Room last time he spun there. The other guys are pretty good too. BTW, here's a guestlist if anyone needs it.
  11. Definitely a fun night. Here are some pics
  12. Yeah, you're right. I didn't mean to imply that the Pink Room is any more important than the rest of the club. I'm trying to get people to look at the whole venue in a new light. As far as my comment about Ziggy, I suppose my personal taste in music shouldn't have been brought into the conversation.
  13. While the club was off to a slow start last night, eventually, Edgar V's afterhours did draw some people. Godskitchen has the potential to become one of the best (and few) afterhours spots around. It's just a matter of people finding out about it. I'm sure as Godskitchen books bigger DJs in the months to come, more people will come to check it out and the place will really take off.
  14. Admittedly, last night was the worst night we had so far. The entire club wasn't doing so well. Maybe many people chose not to go out or skipped town because of the convention or because they'd rather be at the shore on one of the last few weekends of the summer. Maybe they were scared off by KTU broadcasting, thinking that it will draw back the guidos. As far as Ziggy goes, I have nothing against him as a DJ. I just don't personally like that sort of music and consider it to be cheese. I happen to think that JP is cheese as well. That's just my personal taste and I'm sure plenty of people on here will jump down my throat because to them, he's God. I don't care how long Ziggy has been in that room (which couldn't be that much longer that us "rookie cats" since he started afterhours the same night we started our party at Ikon's grand opening). For what it's worth, he was spinning to a nearly empty room every time I walked by. As promoters, we can promote Godskitchen till we're blue. Bottom line is if people write it off and not make an effort to support a party that's sincerely trying to bring some quality music to Ikon, NYC is gonna remain the lounge capital of the world, with an embarrasingly lame club scene.
  15. I throw the Pink Room/Groovanauts.com parties with Jason Jollins on Godskitchen Saturdays. I'm not just some promoter talking out of his ass for the sake of hyping up a bad party. Can anyone who has been to the Pink Room say that the music was ever sub par (well, not counting the afterhours cheese DJ they had up until this week)? We're working really hard to bring quality talent to our room. However, getting people past the stigma of the venue formerly being Exit/Black is no easy task. Unfortunately, many people have a knee-jerk reaction to the suggestion that any party could possibly be any good if the venue used to be called Exit. Godskitchen obviously has its work cut out for it. They're trying to bring non-sucky DJs to a beautifully remodeled venue. If you guys choose to not come and show your support, the transformation will be a failure and you'll be listening to Guido music in that place again before you know it.
  16. here's the party/guest list info: clickity-click
  17. Ikon got a buttload better since Godskitchen took over. The Pink Room is going to be packed tonight. Groovanauts.com DJs spinning everything from minimal techno, to tech-house, to breaks, to house and prog house.
