Saleen, I'll see your Adam Smith and I'll raise you a Darwin - it's also survival of the fittest. House music was underground - few labels existed, and demand was high. Inevitably its popularity would rise, resulting in a saturated market. Over the next few years the strongest will survive and eventually flourish. The same goes for clubs, we're in the saturated period right now. Downloading has had a certain impact, but it's also been used as a convenient excuse for companies who for one reason or another have struggled to stay in business.

Couldn't agree more - your DJ friend needs to get a clue. Diaga rocked it out on Saturday and wasn't afraid to push some boundaries with a wild selection of tracks. If you didn't make it hopefully you caught it on 93.1... p.s. thanks for the retraction x-t-c

America's RAVE Act 2 Could Wipe Out All Dance Clubs Civil liberties campaigners from the Drugs Policy Alliance (DPA) warned this week that dancing could be totally outlawed in America shortly, under a puritanical new bill they're dubbing the RAVE Act 2. "Like the RAVE Act, the Ecstasy Awareness Act (HR 2962) could effectively ban live music and dancing while throwing innocent people like you in jail," the DPA pointed out in their latest email circular. "In light of the fact that drug use is a probable occurrence at any musical event, HR 2962 opens the door for any concert promoter, event organizer, or nightclub owner to be fined and jailed. It doesn't matter if they tried to prevent people from using drugs. Nor does it matter if the vast majority of people attending the event are law-abiding citizens that want to listen to music and not do drugs." It's a really cool space. Main room is DJ-centric with a slightly elevated booth and balconies. Main VIP looks over the main room, seperated by glass walls, a la Crobar Miami. Third room is entirely separate - could be ultra VIP or hip hop... I would say main room capacity would be closer to 1500.

Pretty much a spot on review IMO. We'll be giving him the same advice as we gave Michael Louis - take the skills they have and watch Roland and Oscar to learn how to build a set and work the crowd. Fun times ahead...

He'll also be at Virgin Megastore on Saturday @ 7pm for a showcase before the Space appearance...
