  1. hey...I'm 19, a student at Sarah Lawrence in Bronxville (stuck in Chicago for the summer). I'm studying music and economics right now, with an eye to owning a record label. I spin a little trance when I've got the time. ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  2. How do I always manage to look at the clock at 4:20?!? Man this sucks. Go weekend. ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  3. I like a mixture the best - get together with a couple of really good friends and a couple of new people. (ie - have your friends bring friends). That way I can be super-close with people I already know, but meet new ones in a *very* happy place. ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  4. Requiem for a Dream was awesome - totally disturbing, but awesome Groove Amadeus Elizabeth Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Clockwork Orange The Holy Trinity (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing AMy) Dogma Pi (some people have been spelling it Pie) Schindler's List Apocalypse Now (!) ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  5. Oh man....you guys are nuts. I've never done acid, but I've had some insane experiences with shrooms. The second time I did it was totally random. It was like, 6 in the afternoon, I was totally bored, and I had about an eighth sitting in my drawer. I wasn't really aware that an eighth was a lot...just ate them, and then like, half an hour later, the fun started. I started sort of wandering around, totally bug eyed staring at people. A few knew what was going on, but most thought I'd just lost my mind. I wandered over by the music building on my campus where a concert was going on. I sat down by a flower bed and watched the woodchips dance along with the music - it was really intense and three-D and active. Very cool visuals. But this woman came up to me (as I was staring at woodchips, mind you) and asked if I was ok. I just looked up, all buggy, and said (loudly, apparently) that I was fine. Some people inside the concert looked out and giggled. I didnt' care. I wandered off and talked with some trees for awhile (very conversational, those trees), and started wandering back towards a friend's house. This same woman (who must have thought I was some kind of crazy homeless person) offered me some food, but I just kind of stared at her and left. I got to my friend's house, smoked a bowl, and that's when the crazy shit really got going. A Miles DAvis poster gave me a personal performance of jazz. Art moved all over the walls - the people in the pictures had their own lives, their own agendas, all within the little mini-reality of the picture. The air was colored. I laid down on my friend's bed and was totally transported by the music. Really really intense closed eye visuals - all kinds of different colored swirls and patterns and shapes moving in rhythm with the music. Every once in awhile I'd open my eyes and try to have a conversation with someone, but I was so gone I totally didn't make any sense. Then I'd close my eyes again and when I re-opened them I wasn't sure if I had actually had that conversation. I had to verify with people that I had left a room and come back, or that I had talked with someone or had a glass of water or whatever. I went back outside with some really trippy IDM (Sigur Ros - I highly recommend it), sat out in a field with a couple *really* stoned kids and tried to describe what I was seeing. It was incredible - the trip lasted for like, 8 hard core hours. It was amazing ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  6. <laughs> I have faaaaaar too much serotonin right now - got pills? In Chicago? Let me know. ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  7. I'd love to try 2-CB, opium and acid. What's DMT? ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  8. Two blue dolphins was totally intense. Took the first one at like 12:30, crushed up the second at 2 when I wasn't feeling anything. About 10 minutes later I was flyin high, and I didn't come down until 7 or 8. It was totally breathtaking. ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  9. Absolutely go for it!!! Rolling with my bf was one of the best rolls I've ever had. We spent hours talking about problems, reasons we were in love - anything and everything we had wanted to discuss for weeks but were to inhibited to really say. It adds an entirely different dimension to your relationship and, at least in my experience, it sticks after the high is over. You still feel that much more connected. Good luck - you'll love it. ------------------ Nothing can be as savage as love...one taste is never enough...
  10. Wouldn't you have to take the width of the arrow into account? True, the theoretical distance between the arrow and your wife could decrease infinitely. But since the fineness of the arrow doesn't increase accordingly, wouldn't it hit her anyway? Because of the physical limitations of the objects? ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...
  11. Heyyyy - I go to school in Bronxville (well...Yonkers, if you want to get technical). Stuck in Chicago for the summer - send some NYC vibes my way. This town could *totally* use a dose of cool. ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...

  14. <sighs> I am, pathetically, with out a fake. Know where to get one? ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...
  15. Ok...this is gonna sound really lame, but is transit 21+? <sighs> Being 19 is so lame...too old for the all ages crap, too young for the good parties. Anyway, let me know. If it's 18+ I'm totally in. ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...
  16. I'm not saying that electronica and pop can't combine sounds. I think that freshens both genres and gives each opportunities to diversify their audiences. What I am saying is that the danger lies in the profit margins - if electronica becomes *only* about the money, and not about the music or the kids or the fun, that's when it's got problems. ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...
  17. I think mainstream acceptance of electronic music is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, if authority figures learn that clubbers/ravers are a growing, popular group, they'll be forced to face the reality that we won't go away. That opens all kinds of doors - less hassling of clubs, re-consideration of certain drugs, and the opportunity for a dialogue between the kids and the people who don't understand our entertainment. On the other hand, if electronica goes the way of pop (ie - if Oakenfold somehow leads to a boy band of DJs...ew) I think we'd have a serious problem. The challenge for clubbers/ravers, promoters, and artists is to keep the scene fresh and on the edge, so that it never has the opportunity to fall into the flat, money-grubbing abyss that the music industry can so easily become. ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...

<laughs> Awesome. I think that's the first time I've ever witnessed pure truth. Thanks. ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...
  21. I go to Sarah Lawrence - it's a little liberal arts college about half an hour from Manhattan. I'm originally from the Chicago suburbs, but I didn't do much (hell, any) partying until I got to NYC ------------------ It's pretty weird in here...
  22. Hey everyone - I just got into the club scene at school in New York, so I'm lost when it comes to Chicago. Got any good tips on where the parties are around here? Even better, on where the trance parties are? (Dare I speak the word trance in such a house-y city?) <laughs> Let me know - I'm dying to get on a dance floor again
  23. Hey everyone...I just got here from New York so I'm *very* not in with the Chicago scene. Got any tips on places that are usually good? And even better, on places that spin trance every once in awhile? Thanks a bunch
