  1. Hey man, in terms of hotels I dont know but I sure can point out clubs and restaurants. 3 After-Hours in town Sona: best for tec. A litle of that undergroud feel. This is the scene. You get the real clubbers, chicks are hot, music is amazing... Gotta go before you leave. Stereo: Housier. Gets a mixed crowd but is primarilly gay. Best sond system in North America. Aria. Pretty much same music as Sona (heavy tec fridays and smoother funkyer tec-house saturdays + HipHop in 2nd room both nights) but less successfull in terms of getting a quality crowd. It's good clen fun... to clean for my taste maybe. http://www.clubsona.com/intro.htm http://www.clubstereo.com/main.html http://www.arianightclub.com/ Bars: Illume also called Room 1635... Tokyo... Jinxy... Dorcia... Central Station... Try "Bily Kun" on Mont-Royal street to start one of your nights. Pretty unique spot. Trendy, minimalist... it works. Montreal's best with a touch of central Europe. Did I mention the ostriches heads on the walls??? Restaurants: St-Laurent street between Sherbrooke and Pines is where you wanna be. Little more expensive but with the fuckin' Xchange rate... what do you care right? Globe and Primadonna are institutions. Baïla (newly opened) good food very nice decor... Sofia (food is OK but you really go for the staff... and believe me when I say you get your money's worth...). Anyway man, if you have specifics, let me know. I'll be glad to help. After all, w-e in Montreal is a terrible thing to waste right??? later man
  2. No man, was'nt a disaster musicwise. It was respectable "easy" music. Little too dance for my taste sometimes a little cheezzzy but allways tight. Mind you I did'nt explore all there was to explore. I know I would'nt have found what I was looking for but I most probably would have found something better. I guess Montreal has got me used to something different. Not beeing a major center like N-Y or London, we have to work(I work in the club/bars "industry" too) more the underground thing. Doing magic with little. So huge clubs, light shows and all dont do much for me. Anyway man... my cues? Leave with a good credit card, rent a scooter or a car and dont do too much in the first few days. Meeting the right people, getting access to rthe right pharmaceuticals and learning about the good spots only starts to come together after a few days. Rock that island man! and let me know when you come back Tell me if you need specific info. later
  3. Man, there really is options they have the best DJs in the world you're right. But the fact is I've also seen most of them right here in Montreal. The difference is when I saw them in Ibiza they fed me their most commercial stuff. In terms of clubs though... I really dont see what impresses you so much. Tell me about the general atmosphere of the island and I can understand but the clubs??? Nothing special, no magic. Sorry man but I've seen a lot better. I dont know man... compare it to movies. Is Hollywood the mecca of the movie industry? Might be but I'm looking for "foreign/repertoir" ya know. I need more subtlety. By the way, what you quoted from me was destined to our new neo-nazi aAlabama friend who had some pretty surprising pics posted. Nothing to do with anyones choice as 1st clubbing spot
  4. Yeah, you're a fuckin' shame... that's for sure. Got the wrong board man.
  5. I could only talk bout the places I've been but you are robably right bout London! I second the motion. London it is!
  6. Ibiza is cheap commercial clubland. The Disneyland of clubbing... a glorified Spring Break. N-Y is an amazing city but your clubs are all disapearing... thanks to Rudy. #1 authentic clubbing town = Barcelona. It's in their blood. #1 1/2 = Montreal
  7. Ah sailing! Are ya gona be wearing that little pink polo with the yellow Lacoste Cardigan. "Full Preppy genre tsé!" Québec sounds good. Anything away from Montreal actually sounds good. You have a good one. I dont know if I'm goin' away. Depends on Charlie's car and me finding a partner. We'll see. Might be goin' Sona tonight. Just the bar though. After all... a "Guest" is a terrible thing to waste! Flex hard!
  8. Charlie @ Sona con una nueva chiquita. Martin might be goin' Jonny either @ home or in the deep woods of the canadian backcountry What with you? Golf you litle corporate bitch? Driving round in the flexmobile? hit me back big kahuna! Have you subscribed to the post? You'd be notified right away when I give you yhe best minutes of my day like I just did.
  9. Charlie @ Sona con una nueva chiquita. Martin might be goin' Jonny either @ home or in the deep woods of the canadian backcountry What with you? Golf you litle corporate bitch? Driving round in the flexmobile? hit me back big kahuna!
  10. The Dr's in!!! Félicitations... 2 posts in a year! Hey dude, seen 514 flyers this week??? There's a lot of Jonny in there. In fact it's all Jonny's shots except for Hawtin. I'll send everybody a little self-promotion package in the next few weeks. see ya next year... là ou ça fait mal!
  11. anybody been to FORZA last week-end? And JY hon' where the fuck are you? Leaving me alone to promote montreal??? It's supposed to be YOUR city!
  12. So where is it happenin'???
  13. I'd say Spain (mainland) as an option to greece wich sounds pretty good too. Been to Barcelona before goin' to Ibiza and had a fuckin' hell of a party. Time of my life man. Though it really depends on what you're lookin'n for. I thought Ibiza was nothing more than a glorified spring break. So take my suggestions for what they're worth. Barcelona is the real shit. That city is a 365 days party. And if you are lookin' for the Ibiza spirit with a little more class and substance ask round for the coast (of Spain). Not sure wich part exactly but read a lot of good about it on this board. Good luck man... party hard.
  14. Ho man! Misstress Barbara is amazing. Not to crazy bout her CD but she has a set that is gonna fuck you up allright. It's not just the music, she really puts on a show. Never seen a DJ interact with the crowd like that. She's in my top 5 in terms of sets to see. Did'nt cath her gigs since she moved to Aria. That move is a shame but hey! What you gonna do? Not a big fan of the Aria though the venue can be interesting I'd go just to see her anyway. Worth a shot my man... you should enjoy! check the websites for line-ups. Later dude
  15. Hey dude! I'm just watchin' the news and they're talkin' about a championship fight in Bucarest. Heard bout it? It's supposed to be a big deal cause one of the guys is Romanian and all. We talk about it caus' he lives here in Montreal. Anyway man small world.
  16. Hell! I must be pretty international then. French is the "accent" you should have picked-up. But hey! If you say Rasta! allright then. I've got hair so I guess I'm close enough. Heavy graphics you carry with you by the way! see ya man
  17. Not resident man. He was a guest. From what I know it was his first set at Sona. Yo JY will you have to correct me on that??? Where you at JY? Anyway man... back to you know till Jy shows up. Can not help you with the tracks. Glad you liked the club though. How'd you like Montreal?
  18. Romania! Quite the funcky place! Never been that far east. Seen Prague but that's about it. So what's up in Romania. Any good nightlife? How's the cultural scene doin'? I'm in that business so I'm allways interested in earing bout new places and crowds. There must be some good stuff happenin'. Feed me some info on central/eastern europe Have you been clubbing round some place else in Europe? North America? Montreal baby!? That is definitely a place to see. Allright man... later.
  19. Yo sergif man! Nice to hear someone from catalunia. Been to spain last september and I've gotta say that your hometown is amazing. It's on top of my best "party towns" Right after Montreal Seriously man I havent been to big clubs that much but the city is full of amazing smaller places. The Moog was great the night I went. So what's up with you man? What do you do over there? Later man... hit me back with updates from Barcelona!
  20. hey man!!! What's up across the pond??? Where you from?
  21. There's partys all summer long in Montreal man but an all weekender??? I dont know. Might well be outside of the city though.
  22. Hey just realised! You're ol' skool legend now That is one devoted hon'
  23. JY hon'!!! Yeap I went! And I'm just back from the dead. Benn fuckin' sick all week. Party was weird. Fuckin' 2 hours lineup missed half of Graham's set wich was quite poor anyway. Laflèche was very "average" and XL half decent. Piccotto was a good show though. But hey, I had an amazing bunch of friends anyway so it was a good party. That really is what its all about!! What bout you daaaaaaarlin'???
  24. hoy! Pepita! Goin' to Swirl?
  25. Man if that girl was dead it'd be all over the news and the Sona would be in deep shit. As a matter of fact, the whole of montreal club scene would be in it. Chances are she's doin' OK. Wonder how many she droped to get like that though. "Use and abuse" they say right? Keep partying my man! Later
