    rant

Just gotta make this plain... Watched the drugs=supporting terrorism commercial for the nth time and it just pisses me off to no end. If you haven't seen it, it's this montage of various children and teens saying things like "I killed my mother/ father etc" and it all ends with a voiceover saying if you buy illegal drugs you are supporting international terrorism. First let me say that I'm not a big drug user and that we all know irresponsible use of drugs will eventually result in some serious physiological consequences, like listening to Celine Dion. That being said, for the anti-drug people to take devastating tragedies like 9/11 or suicide bombings and then have the sheer audacity to say that some kid buying a joint or dropping a tab is responsible is not only seriously unethical but absolutely false. Where are terrorists harbored, educated, trained?? The Middle East!! What is the main (only) source of wealth in Middle Eastern countries? That's right, class; OIL!! And the United States is the number one consumer, three times greater than the average use in European countries. We buy it, we need it. It's what Desert Storm was about. Last time I checked, Northern California and Oregon pot growers weren't giving any flight lessons, and Mexico and Columbia want the US to grow RICHER as they can then sell more drugs. Stop this bulls**t about drugs and terrorism and be honest about it. Run an ad or print up a T-shirt with a Mobil Logo on it or a big oil tanker. Then put the motto "I Support International Terrorism" How about some honesty for awhile...
  2. You know he died from a hospital-doctor coma; hmm....
  3. and there's the wonderful cycle where you haven't eaten and all of a sudden you are completely STARVING so you wolf down a ton of whatever nasty fast food is around, which makes you feel nauseous, so you don't eat for awhile and then all of a sudden you are completely STARVING so you wolf down a ton of whatever nasty fast food is around... speaking of which, note to self: NO KFC for awhile... ugh...
  4. Vicman: "I think you just have to give any guy a chance (this coming from the guy perspective). i hear it from some of my female freinds how many times they dismiss, IMO, guys too early on, either because they tell to many corny jokes, they seem nervous, or they tend to leave the toilet seat up. " I gotta agree on that one. I am a complete coward when it comes to strangers. I'm nervous, feel awkward, and generally feel the artificiality and pretense of it all. If I'm with a bunch of friends and one of them brings someone new, then I can sit back and get a feel for the person before I throw myself in the mix. I guess that is why I have never walked across a dance floor/ bar/ club and initiated a conversation with a complete stranger. Can't do it. Don't get me wrong, I'm dating someone now and have a good social life, but it is definitely tough out there. And the good ones are truly hard to find; But I was single for a long time, and being picky and not settling is the only way to go. Unless you're just damn horny
  5. It's all fun and games till someone humps your harm...

    Help!

Search the threads...this question has been answered many times.. also check out www.la2nite.com fo rlistings and descriptions.
  10. I had the same notions about the elderly behind the wheel and the DMV's supposed laissez-faire attitude till I took my uncle to renew his license. He is 76 and I guess afetr age seventy they have to take a written and eye test every single year, and a driving test every other year! The clerk said that most of the bad elderly drivers don't have a license, and usually no insurance either. So don't let the expensive cadillac fool you... Oh, and I have an old SUV but I only take up one space and I always signal when changing lanes; I do have to agree that it seems like the moms driving the towering Ford Enormous with kids in tow are the least considerate drivers...
  11. Just wondering if anyone else is going to check out Mr. Sanchez; he's the main reason NYC's Centrofly hasn't turned into Twilo... It will be good times, my friends, good times...
  12. On occasion, however, it is a very nice thought...
  13. thanks for sharing, weyes, I'm sorry it wasn't all it was cracked up to be; I admit, they sure did sell me on it, I was planning to go but I was stuck at Highlands (which, btw, has DJ's who think they're playing a wedding on a cruise ship (top 40 remixes, alot of 80's... Madonna's "Holiday" ???) and nobody wanted to head downtown... Never heard of Spacegirl, she out of NYC? I've also noticed the lack of basic DJ abilities (beat-matching, etc) lately here at several events recently. Maybe cause I just got back from Europe and am spoiled, but what irks me more than hearing one trainwreck after another is the fact that people DON"T CARE/ NOTICE!! Is everyone on drugs? In NY even a bad club like Limelight will find a fake ID carrying newbie hollering at the DJ, and here, well... I'm off my soapbox.
  14. Just curious if any Angelenos are going out to Ibiza... been there once and, frankly, it was fat, sunburnt, drunk, british guys and anorexic brazilian women with more piercings than the Marilyn Manson fan club... Not one to ever learn from my mistakes, I'm planning to head back over this August; I am helpless with this lineup: aug14-24...10 days of madness.... as of now confirmed dj's judge jules pvd tiesto hawtin alex gold carl faaaawking cox twice teneglia tunnel trance force seb fontaine Could anyone resist????
  15. Sounds pretty cool, probably couldn't get there till1 or 2am you think it'll be a pain getting in?
  16. Just in case anyone was wondering (as I was earlier today) about the origins of "4:20", I found this link helpful: http://www.phish.net/faq/n420.html I'm off to floss...
  17. Oh! Didn't mean for you to take it like that, I wasn't offended at all, it was in jest! Sorry 'bout the misunderstanding...
  18. Dear Mademoiselle, While I am not aware of having made the mistake myself, may I apologize for what has surely been a cause of unending, devastating grief, and assure you that I will now be cognizant of the possibility of such an error, and will chastise others who engage in such reprehensible acts. P.S. My pet peeve: It seems like every post has, like FIFTY people who look at it, and then there's, maybe, ONE reply. Make yourselves know, silent majority!! Seb
  19. I knows n I likes it....too bad it's for a Mitsubishi. And the song, well, I've got it somewhere among my stack of bootlegs, see what I can do. But it's a catchy lil ditty ain't it??
  20. "The thought was that everyone would love them, especially the Asian community. We thought they were cheeky, irreverent and funny and everyone would love them. But that has not been the case." Oooh, I looove that. Of course, just like the black community would embrace t-shirts emblazoned with Sambos cotton-picking and watermelon eating. Damn, did they f*ck up...
  21. Just wondering if Doc Martin was still doing release wed nights @ Atlas...anyone? anyone even been??
  22. I will now begin my 5-htp and St John's Wort regimen... ; )
  23. sunday night gotta check out Revival/ Deep at 1650 Schrader in Hollywood ...doc martin and marques wyatt trade off every other week. Pretty cool vibe, good crowd, very little attitude and strong drinks. Not to mention some pretty decent vinyl being laid down.... and since it's St pattys dau. well, it's the only night of the year worth going to Dublin's on the sunset strip. But be there very, very early. Like, if you're still reading this, there's a line down the block...
  24. If you're going to be in San Diego it's worth it to check out the gaslamp quarter; a several-blocks-long strip of bars clubs and restaurants. Usually the attitude isn't as bad as L.A., and the music is surprisingly good. Also, Pacific Beach, for the laid back surfer chick set where you go out in your best tank top and shorts. Drinks are usually strong and cheap, and the best 24 hour mexican food for the after hour munchies...
  25. Root down at Gabah thursday nights are great for house with a bit of 70's soul mixed in (though watch out for the doorman). Also Marques Wyatt, who's been on the seen for ten years or so, resides at Deep, club 1650 in Hollywood sunday nights. great music, cool crowd, no attitudes...
