So what's your opinion? Is it worth the extra $$ to escape the crowd of juiceheads who are bumping into everybody, looking to start some trouble. Does a hip-hop room room in a club automatically attract a bad crowd of gansters? Over the years my tastes have changed. When I was underaged, I was just happy to get get inside a club. In college, I was dead broke and would always bad mouth the glam scene. Now I'm out of grad school, hold a good job, and don't mind shelling out some extra dollars...if it means I don't have to put up with thugs or if they're some beautiful eye candy inside the club. Some might reply that it's all about the music...which I agree to a certain extent. I use to go to Twilo to catch Sasha & Digweed, use to go to Vinyl to catch DT, always tried to catch a great DJ whenever they where in town. But I caught Tiesto at Exit before the holidays and even though it was a good set, the crowd sorta unnerved me. Now I feel kinda old everytime I see the young faces that go to Vinyl. I guess I'm kinda guilty of having some amazing times at places like Veruka, Spa, GrooveJet and Suite 16. But, some of the best times I experienced last year were at non-glam events. Such as Basement Jaxx in Central Park and the Rocksteady/B-Boy Anniversary concert. Both were free concerts and the vibe from the crowd was amazing. And after reading the reviews of Afrika Bambata last week, I wish I could've caught their show. So, is there a happy medium between the super-clubs and the underground movement?
