well....unfortunately, when you have 3000 people going to a club, there is going to be lines.....as a matter of fact, I think Space does a pretty good job of getting everyone in in an orderly fashion....it's not like some clubs where there is a big mob outside the club and the doorman picks people out of a crowd....at Space if you stand in line you're in... what outrageous prices?? are the prices any more than any comparable venue in town? what are you talking about? cover? drinks? parking? think about a night on the beach......I'd say you spend alot more if you are across the causeway from Space.... I've never met a doorman I liked we can't all hang with the elite A-crowd like yourself... who is "WE"?? from the looks of this thread, not everyone is ready to cast Space aside....I like Rain myself (I've played there and they have offered me a residency) but there is no way you can compare Rain to Space......Rain is a lounge....Space is a mega-club........and what is this "all about the music" crap.....no club is all about the music...a club is what you make of it....

you know what they say about opinions....... I guess real music is a matter of personal taste....... how often do you go to Space?

AMEN TO THAT!!!! I could not agree with you more.....beleive me there are plenty of people who feel the same way you do....I spin on Saturdays at Space for 10+ hours and have yet to have a drink or touch any drugs.....All I require is adrenalin and the music that I love and have dedicated most of my life to....There is a core group of people who are regulars on Saturdays that are there for the music from beginning to end(and it's growing weekly)....I play for them....remember Space is a huge club (3000 people every Sat) you are going to get all kinds of folks in there.... my theory is: Don't sit home and bitch about a scene you are not a part of......go out and make it better...

I totally respect your opinion.... where are these clubs built around the DJ??? in Miami??? do you find Space's cover charge or drink prices any higher than its competition????? 20$cover for a 24 hour club doesn't seem that hight to me....not to mention the cover is always 20$ before midnight no matter how special the events is..... Did you personally get treated in an offensive manner at Space??? I don't think most people feel abused ??? (I hope) This is the part of your post that troubles me the most, and I also think it is the most telling of what your gripes stem from....You are obviously a person who likes their house music the old fashioned way (or not at all) I for one consider Deep-Dish very much HOUSE.....House music has evolved tremendously and maybe you have failed to come along on the journey....Since when can't prog-house or tech-house be good house??? or house at all for that matter??? true house-heads??? Damn Noira.....you seem pretty bitter there..... I should know for many years I sat at home and bitched about a scene I didnt really participate in also....but I have to tell you , that is the easy way out. I have been deeply involved in House music and it's evolution on a proffesional level since 1990 and as a fan from way before that. From 1992 till 2000 I was pretty much gone every weekend spreading the gospel of House music all over the world. In July of 2000 I began recording an album for MCA records....at this time my partner and I decided to stop traveling until we finished the album....coincidently this was around the same time that Louis and Space offered me a Saturday night residency...I was very skeptical (to say the least) because I knew Miami was primarily a Trance town but Louis assured me that he was willing to stick with me through the transition....... This was at the height of my good friend Edgar's popularity and Friday nights were packed...It took quite a few months....but to my surprise....Louis stuck with his plan to create a legitimate house night. Beleive me it would have been alot easier (and more profitable) for him to go with the flow and give the masses what they wanted to hear at the time...TRANCE....but for some reason he stuck to his guns and now we are 3000 strong every Saturday....In my opinion THAT IS making a difference..... Are you aware that Louis himself was a DJ for many years (and a pretty damn good one at that) Long before his current success he was the resident at one of the first truly underground clubs in this city (the original Salvation in downtown) Are you aware that several years ago Louis opened a club called DownTown which was dedicated to underground dance music, but was so ahead of its time (in musical format and location) that it went by the wayside.... There aren't many clubowners who you walk in and find on the floor replacing speaker components or walk in to the booth every once in a while and mix a couple of records...There aren't many clubowners who build the DJ booth first and then the rest of the club around it (usually it is the other way around) Love him or hate him (and I have done both at times:)) Louis is the real thing....and before you continue to make accusations and rip him I think you should inform yourself..... He has just opened a new club with the slogan "Its all about House music" Do you think there is some huge financial gain to be made from this??? Some would say this is a mistake because it is pigeonholing the club into one genre of music....But once again he is standing by his beleifs...and Deep Dish is not too shabby... Its alot easier to sit back and bitch about the scene....but luckily there are some of us that have decided to do something about it.... PEACE:) OSCAR G.

I heard a siren on Body & Soul Vol. 2.....it sounded pretty good to me........that reminds me, its not only a Miami thing.....the crowd goes off at Vinyl in NYC when they hit the siren..... To me the music and effects are totally seperate...music is always the main course, but its nice to have side dishes....

Try it when there is 3000 people in the club and they are all jumping up and down with they're hands in the air! Beleive me, at the time and on the night you played your set, it would have been totally inappropriate for you to hit the horn (I usually don't go near it until 3AM) I think you are taking the horn a little too seriously. I don't see what it has to do with the music either. To me the horn is just another effect to enhance the overall experience, along with lights, fog, decor, nitrogen, siren etc... Don't just take it from me, every world renowned guest Dj we have had at the club from Danny Tenaglia (who loves it) to Deep Dish to Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto, every single one of them ,with the exception of John Digweed (who was unaware that it was there because he wasnt told like everyone else) has hit the horn. It is just a great way for the DJ to show emotion and excitement about a certain song he is playing. Not to mention it really gets the crowd going also. I'm not saying that you should use it. Im just saying that I like it. (and so does every other Dj that has played there except you:))

I hear ya' and I got nothing but love for ya' ummm...that first song was my new record on Junior UK, but ANYWAY;) not in my 20s anymore??? that's no excuse!!!! That beautiful vocal track (which happens to be my favorite record of the moment) is Andrea Brown "Trippin' ") You have great taste!! It's funny....I've been playing that song for a while now and it always seems to kill the floor, only now are people starting to get into it. Thats Miami for ya'.... I'll never understand it.....Seems like you have to beat people over the head with shit for them to get it.....OH WELL...

I am totally open to criticism and welcome it.....why else would I even read this board? But I am entitled to an opinion as well as everybody else. I was just expressing my thoughts on this board like everyone else. If you don't like it, then don't read it. I was also just trying to shed some light on some of the issues you guys were talking about. I figure it's better to form an opinion based on facts. IT'S ALL GOOD:)

WOW! THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT GUYS! PSSSSSS I don't mind criticism, but it needs to be based on fact..... For example THE HORN...before Danny went on I hit the horn on two songs and one of the times it was Danny who did it. (BTW: Danny hit the horn in his set more times than I ever have, but I guess it's OK when "DT" does it) Danny wanted to go on at 4AM...he arrived at the club at 2AM and told me he wanted to hang out and listen to me for a while because he never gets a chance to hear me. He was dancing for most of that time in front of the booth and shining his flashlight at me. He enjoyed my set (but I guess his taste is different from you guys) or maybe he's just not a jaded Miami clubber who can't bring themselves to enjoy a local DJ (no matter how global that DJ is) Danny actually wanted to go on at 6AM but I told him I was as eager to listen to him as everyone else. Another funny thing is that everyone agrees that Danny's set was great. So I guess you guys didn't notice that Danny and I switched off several times during the night. I guess as long as you think it's "DT" it sounds good. It's very strange to me what a weird stigma there is attached to being a local DJ in this town. But it is a reality I have had to face over the past year as a resident at Space. FOR EXAMPLE: I played at Avalon in Boston this past Friday. When I played my last record people stayed and demanded an encore, here you guys can't wait for me to get off. There people came for autographs on their recently purchased "CLUB SPACE - HOUSE SESSIONS CDs", here I get no respect, no love; and that is true for dates I do the world over. But then again I always need to remind myself that I don't play for the handful of people on this board that come to Space only when there is a big guest, I play for the couple thousand people that pack my dancefloor every week and support me as I go for my weekly 10 hour sets. You have to listen a little more closely Mr. Malandrismo. In reality what I play is a sample of a small piece of the vocal from "Revoluton". I use a delay effect on it and layer it over several different songs over the course of my 10 hour set. As a matter of fact I have'nt played the actual Revolution record in a few months.(not that I have anything against playing older stuff) Did you know that I was the first DJ to play the "Revolution" in Miami? Being that I am Twisted Record's top selling artist of all time, and Tom Stephan(Superchumbo) is a personal friend of mine , I was lucky enough to get an acetate of the song months before it was released. Maybe I should'nt play stuff so far in advance because then people become spoiled and don't want to hear it anymore by the time it comes out. IT AIN'T EASY BEING CHEESY!!! OSCAR G. Hey guys this is my first time writing. I have been the resident at Space on Saturday nights for a little over a year now. I check out this board once in a while to see what people are saying and because my friend Edgar turned me on to it. I think we all need to chill out a bit. If any of you know Edgar like I do you know that he cares very much about his fans. Beleive me Edgar is one of the most humble and decent people I know. He also takes the time to communicate with you guys on this board regularly so you know he values your opinions. (I wish I would have started posting a long time ago but you guys will have to forgive me I am a very shy person) I just think that we get frustrated when we put our hearts into trying to give you guys the best experience possible and all we get is negativity in return. I am the first on to acknowledge that we have problems at Space. But I also must tell you that we are constantly addressing those problems and listening to customer's suggestions. I personally brought up the security issue at a staff meeting after reading several complaints on this board. Thankfully the ownership listened and has now gotten rid of the private company who was handling security and has gone with all in house security. This has been a huge improvement in my opinion. As far as the door staff, I myself have had problems with it. But then again I have pretty much had problems with door staffs at most major venues in town. I know it sucks to put up with their pompass attitudes, but again this is an issue that is being addressed. Just yesterday I was in a staff meeting where this was the main issue being discussed and I guarantee you that it is being addressed as there were several complaints about guestlist, etc. I guess the point I am trying to make is that :yes we have problems, but the fact is that we are trying our best to address these problems. We also try our best to continue to bring the best talent and have the best sound and lighting. They are currently closing the club for a week to do a major overhaul. I even hear there may be some walls coming down (but you didn't hear it from me:)) Just remember when you are ripping Space that there are some of us that put alot of work into trying to give you guys a good time, and I'll be honest, it hurts to read some of the stuff on here. "FUCK SPACE"? isn't that a little harsh? I know we are all entitled to our opinions, and that is the basis for this forum, but I know we can keep it civilized.
