  1. Feb is a dreadful month in terms of sports. I'm a hockey fan too so my depression is even worse!!! I will not watch Arena football, though.... G-.G
  2. I really like this move by the Marlins - they needed a 1B and a lefty bat bad. The batting order 1-5 is real nice. Pierre Loduca Cabrera Delgado Lowell Not completely sold on Beckett either, but I like A.J Burnett to win 17 games this year. Mets will finish no better than 3rd this year - who is going to get them through the 6-9th innings???????? You know Pedro is 6 and done and Glavine throws too many pitches. Benson doesn't have the stamina because he's spent all his energy bangin' his wife (would do the same thing in his position might I add). -g.g
  3. Possible torn rotator cuff.......I guess there was a reason his nuggets were floating even more than usual. Hope he is not out too long since the JETS have a new Offensive coordinator and only Bollinger as the #2. -G.G
  4. I think we will get Derrick Mason now from the Titans. What about Mason opposite Mcareins with Santana in the slot next year? Not a bad 3-wide set, huh??? -G.G
  5. I, too, am a DIE-HARD asshole JETS fan that is just as obnoxious as all the rest......but I accept this loss. No blamin' the kicker. Period. One of the biggest plays of the game that nobody talks about was Penny missing Moss badly over the middle on that 3rd down after Ellis forced the fumble. Inexcusable. Who are we kidding - would you give us ANY shot against NE in Foxboro????? No way. The JETS have too many holes on their squad right now. Overall, it was a good season to build on & now we need to address our weaknesses and not break-up the whole team via FA. -G.G P.S Is there an Antonio Gates II available in the draft???
  6. v. zambrano? wasn't he like the 4th starter on the friggin devil rays? he'll be in middle relief by the end of may... -g.g p.s. if the marlins get delgado, they will win the east hands down
  7. i think they will "tag" him since the reward is so great and the risk is only 1 year. he's the only d player the jets have with the potential to take over a game. wise choice to wrap-up ellis to a long-term deal cause he's more durable. don't forget if abe gets caught boozin' again, he faces a 4 game suspension. -g.g
  8. some comments...... 1. believe contract or no contract, chrebet would be on the field no matter what. he's someone with true passion for the game. 2. regardless of this b/s by abraham, the jets most likely will franchise him next year. i, too, would not sign him to a long term deal. so now since he'll be under contract for only 1 year, will he pull the same shit again? 3. i hope lamont goes out west and not to the dolphins - that dude is big and fast -g.g
  9. So # 80 has had numerous concussions in recent years but is willing to risk permanent damage in order to help his team in the playoffs. Herm told him no, but he's going to play against Pitt in probably the last game of his career. Abraham on the other hand has been cleared to play by the doctors but declared himself inactive for the SD game. This is due to the fact that he doesn't want to "risk" injuring his knee again as a FA (it's his money year). Sorry, but some players go a lifetime without making the playoffs and this dude would rather watch from the sidelines then help out his team???? In SD, it was too wet. What will the excuse be against the Steelers? Too cold? I think he's a tremendous talent (when healthy) but this sort of behavior is inexcusable. Didn't he miss the Raiders playoff game a few years back because of a sore throat? Makes you wonder if he's really worth the franchise tag for next season... -G.G
  10. I liked the spread look. Really believe you have to come out and attack PITT with 4-5 wide set. I don't see us running the ball or beating them up physically. Their front 7 is just too good. You just have to have your hot reads because they will come after u with the blitz.
  11. Why a lefty? Ortiz, Varitek, etc. and the short porch in right field.......'nuff said. G.G
  12. I'm still shocked about Javy's meltdown. Jaret Wright scares me to death. I would have saved the money and thrown more Milton's way. They will sign any pitcher with potential under 30 at the moment cause they got an old staff and no arms in the minors. Pavano has got pretty good stuff. Not a number 1 but he'll win 15 games. Problem is, Wright/Moose/Pavano/Javy all have similar velocity/repetoires. The Yanks need a lefty in their stadium - why won't they learn (Whitson, Weaver, Javy)??? -G.G
  13. The arm strength (or lack thereof) is obvious but you have to work around it. I think it is too early to panic - the JETS are at least a season away from being an elite team. They have 3 urgent needs: 1. A new TE. Becht can block but has no hands or play-making ability. Baker is a total disappointment. 2. SS. Tongue was a terrible signing and has had a brutal year. Mcgraw can't stay healthy but they need someone to support Coleman. 3. A KR for Westfall. BTW - I bet Chad Morton is happy he left for the Skins. He sure has done a lot for them. The formula for the JETS must be running the ball and playing aggressive D. If they get a good TE, the 'backers will have honor that area of the field and Chad will have more room to throw. Also believe Hackett should call some play action on first/second down so that there is some separation downfield. If you ask Penny to "thread the needle", you are playing into the hands of the defense. Biggest problem for Gang Green? The offseason and all our FA. Possibly losing Lamont, Kareem Mckenzie, and Ferguson will hurt. -G.G
  14. Ghost, that would be Austria. -g.g
  15. Once football season is over, then the depression will really set it in. Who misses seeing an Ed Jovanovski hip-check???
  16. fortson is a big help but they do not have the inside presence to compete with the truly elite teams. allen/lewis can gun, but i'm betting this team goes through a rough stretch after xmas. phoenix has more depth - both teams are fun to watch. -g.g
  17. If the bonus is based on targets for the fiscal year, then some companies (like mine) will only pay out sometime in Feb/Mar. I think this is quite common. I can make up to another 40% of my base salary if we meet all our goals - looking highly unlikely at the moment, though. -G.G
  18. I'm still in shock over the JETS loss. Jesus Christ they could have run the ball twice from the 1 yard line (Quincy bootleg?) and instead they just F@#k it all up. Forget the division....now we have to fight just to get a wild card. -G.G
  19. For better of for worse (most likely for worse), they are stuck with Giambi and his contract. While it sounds sexy to add Soriano and Beltran, we need left-handed SP (especially in our ballpark). If we had the Unit or a healthy Pettitte, the outcome would have been different. The other guy who is a warrior is Tim Hudson...he would be great in the Bronx, righty or not. -G.G
