  1. All Dance-floor lighting was designed, installed and programmed by Steve Lieberman of SJ Lighting in California. Steve is the man!
  2. By the way, does it look like we need a lot of workers?
  3. ...those look to me like construction workers getting a club ready to open...Hmmmmm
  4. We actually passed fire inspection......all the life safety systems are fully operational and have been for some time. In the end it came down to a couple of issues: we didn't get the fucking place finished and we didn't get the place fucking finished. Honest answer...We had not properly sealed the roof or completed the work in the second floor bathrooms. It was close and they were willing to allow us some slack but not that much. BUT....it really is the best sound I have ever heard...both main room and rooftop. The lighting systems are simply sick. The place is beautiful. We'll be open in a couple of weeks and I really hope you all love it.

  6. A wise person once said that good things are worth waiting for.
  7. FYI - Nocturnal is right next door to Space and also has a 24 hour license.
  8. Additions to the PHUTURE Lineup: Mazi Clive Henry (Peace Division) A message From Red Jerry: Having spent four happy years putting on some of WMC's better parties at Shadow Lounge and Opium Gardens , Londons' Hooj crew had to take a breather in 2004 , as their thirteen year old and much loved label fell victim to the cold economic winds blowing through the industry , and was forced to cease trading (or 'went spectacularly bust' to use the technical term . ) But you cant keep a good man down , and within a couple of years or so the core of the Hooj crew have re-established themselves as one of the UKs' most vibrant online stores , city16.com ,selling forward thinking music from across the spectrum , alongside cult movies , books and related paraphanelia. And so its' with renewed energy that they cross the Atlantic once again to join forces with their old partner in crime Dade Solokoff ( Shadow / Opium ) , who 's now running things at the all new Nocturnal hotspot . But whilst the venue may be a new one , the concept behind the night remains the same : bringing the cream of Europe's dj's / producers over ( and a couple of our North American friends ) for a night of cutting edge music in front of a uniquely Hooj / Miami / WMC crowd - from all corners of the globe ,music biz movers and shakers ,local party kids , jet setters and Brit blaggers , united by a love of forward thinking music , and a determination to have a good time . The line up this year is a who's who of whats' currently happening in Europe : electro heroes Tiefschwarz promoting their much anticipated new album , ambient star Ulrik Schauus giving a unique live performance , again ahead of a new album , Border Community head honcho James Holden , cosmic commando numero uno Tom Middleton , hot new progressive boy on the block Desyn Masiello , another rising start in the electro firmanent, Crosstown Rebel Damian Lazarus , tribal master Clive Henry from Peace Division...the list goes on . From deep progressive to sleek electro , beautiful ambinence to hypnotic tech , cosmic disco to jacking acid , city16's 'Phuture ' will be opening up WMC in the the only way they know how : the best house music on the planet served up for best crowd in Miami .
  9. The Club Awards will be on the Wednesday of Conference and will begin around 9PM. They've got some cool talent as presenters so it should be fun.
  10. And the "marquis" club that will host the awards show is..........
  11. Look for some announcements this week on CJ. Opening date, plans and conference line-up are a CJ exclusive.

    nocturnal?

    When is Nocturnal opening?
  13. That lady has been cleaning the streets of South Beach for years. She used to come by Shadow Lounge every weekend and sweep the street, gutter and sidewalk. She never asked for a dime but I would usually throw her a $50 for the effort. I never mind helping those who are willing to help themselves.

  15. I figured that the best thing to do to control the rumors and speculation is to go ahead and post this. We were on schedule for a late October opening until we hit a few snags. The first was the series of storms. I was in Ibiza when I received the call about Frances coming through. The contractor decided that the prudent thing to do was to prepare the building for the storm. They brought in a crane and took everything off the roof, removed all the materials and boarded the place up. When the storm didn't hit, they were reluctant to bring everything back in because of Ivan so we waited it out. Then we got geared up again only to have to repeat the whole process for Jeanne. The end result was that it cost us about four weeks of real work. Now we are trying to speed up the process but that means a ton of extra expense. The project is already over budget so we are not prepared to add overtime to the cost. Things are progressing really well at the site. Nick and CJ will have a full update with pictures soon. All I can say for now is that it will be amazing when it opens. Cheers, Dade
  16. How about this.......IT'LL OPEN WHEN WE'RE READY!!!
  17. Jon, Jon, Jon....You know I love ya but....ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND???? The Conference is much better on the Tuesday to Saturday shcedule. With the Sat - Wed schedule everything winds down by Monday. The Mon - Tues - Wed events are weak. With the schedule being Tues - Sat everything builds toward the weekend and all the parties are better. PS - My inside info says they are doing the Tues - Sat schedule.
  18. Don't let Dave bullshit you. He's the man at Opium/Mansion. He is in charge of bathroom attendants, busboys and valet parking. You definately want him on your side.
  19. I've posted on this board twice in the last year and both have been moved to Drama within minutes. I've hit a new low. BTW - Congrats, Dave, on the big move.
  20. Is it true that Dave Grutman is leaving Opium/Mansion to work full time on the Ringmaster Productions Crew? Dave please confirm.
  21. Sorry you think so, Tony. I just happen to be friends with the landlords and to blame them for the end of Nerve is tasteless in my opinion. By the way, when your lease ends you don't usually get evicted in advance.
  22. If you actually paid the rent maybe they would have renewed.
  23. Thanks! We try to be creative.
