  6. In the notorious flash-in-the-pan world of house music's infamously fickle scene, Roger Sanchez is part of a rare breed. Calling him a "dance music pioneer" is a welcome compliment, but it doesn't quite do him justice; Sanchez is one of modern house music's Founding Fathers, an enduring talent who hasn't let up on his relentless schedule in more than a decade-and he's not slowing down anytime soon. From his splashy debut over 15 years ago with the omnipotent smash "Luv Dancin'," Sanchez has gone on to showcase his brand of hard-hitting, soul-infused beatwork at his revered "Release Yourself" parties. Named for Sanchez's 1996 track "Release Yo Self," the Release Yourself events embrace an all-encompassing concept of clubbing in which all are welcome, judgments are forbidden and no one is immune from getting down to the resounding music of the maestro. Yet while his Release Yourself events continue to be a global draw, Sanchez's popularity abroad has come at a price: the native New Yorker has been a decidedly demure presence on the decks of his hometown in recent years. But all of that is about to change. Hot on the heels of his Grammy Award for 2002's Remixer of the Year, Sanchez landed his first proper New York residency in years with a recurring Saturday at Manhattan mega-club Crobar. Now, with a full artist album due in the coming year, Sanchez is gearing up to reclaim his spot among the ranks of New York's DJ regulars while continuing to embellish his superstar status throughout Europe. In this very special edition of The Revolution, we close our Second Season of shows and celebrate our one-year anniversary with one of house music's lasting legends. Log on. Tune in. Listen up. On Wednesday, December 22nd, at 8pm Roger Sanchez joins THE REVOLUTION.
