no, thats not what I am saying. My point is that good music will draw me to a party, not the fact that it is being billed as a random nationality-affiliated party. The fact that you are billing it as "Russian-Themed," to me at least, sounds excluding. Book Russian DJs, sure, but don't bill it as a Russian party. Or, do it. I'm just saying that promotiing it as such is a big turn off for me.

actually, most people who know anything about DJing would disagree with you. A really good dj will take the crowd up, down, up again and all over the place during the course of a night, not just play banger after banger, and only go up. That gets boring and requires no imagination.

well, thats exactly what a good dj does...he builds up anticipation to an amazing track and everyone goes nuts. Guys like Armin, Tiesto, PVD, they just play banger after banger, big song after big song. i personally appreciate and respect djs who can rock a dance floor and build up a vibe with as few big tracks as possible..it definitely takes more skill. And idk, maybe you spent a lot of time in the bathroom on saturday night, cause almost everyone was going nuts to the minimal beats he threw on.

tribal tech house? Holden is known for the tech house / minimal stuff he plays, you should have known that going in. Thats like me going to hear Armin and getting pissed because he didn't play any house music. Your opinion of what "tribal tech house" or whatever is on that mix is obviously very dofferent from what the people at Holden like, because you are the only person I have seen that didn't think he was awesome. To each his own, I just don't get how you are surprised at what he was playing considering thats exactly the stuff he is known for...he even played three of his monster productions / remixes on Saturday (Safari, A Break in the Clouds, and The Sky Was Pink)

lol, Holden was on heroin and playing electro with occassional tribal tracks? hahaha You are in serious need of a clue my man. I was there from about 12-3:30 and didn't hear a single electro track, you must not know what electro is. He played a lot of tech house and mixed in progressive. And to say the kid was on heroin because he wasn't looking up, wow. He was in the zone, that is all. Not all djs have to wave their hands around like Armin or tiesto to get a crowd into their set.

Love is my all-around favorite club in the club in the city for a few reasons...best sound system in the city, and the most hooked up dj booth. as far as big roooms go, I love Spirit.

well, Pacha is starting a regular party for local djs in the basement this weekend and saturday's lineup is awesome. I'm gonna try to make it if I can still walk after Friday night.
