These 2 picture are from the small show they played at the Albion Hotel during WMC this year. It was unbelievable maybe only 200 people there.

For all the pictures if you missed it Deep Dish

After Jimmy got off the tables, Roland got on and played a masterful set in the patio .. quite possible THE best set I've ever heard him play.. period. On fvcking point the whole night through and dropped down a shit load crowd pleasing choons.. Chus & Ceballos remix of Luzon, the new Timo Maas.. too many.. It was the best time I've had in the patio, hands down. I'd also like to see the patio with an opening DJ. Someone that could compliment Roland's style and could hand it off up here instead of having him start down there... I think it'll work wonderfully...

Stryke, what else can I say about this man that I havent said before?... He brings a TON OF ENERGY to the club and his essential selection of tracks is off the fvcking hinges! and his set last night was an indication of just that.. What the hell is Miami thinking when a talent like Stryke DOES NOT have a residency in Miami is beyond me? Techno is NOT the only thing that Stryke plays mind you... My vote goes to Stryke for Space afterhours...

I think that Space has been making a huge impact on what clubland listens to down here for the last couple of years. I feel that it's important for a club to educate the masses in all genre of muzik.. Space can do no wrong, and by being in that position, you can get creative and bring in different talent.. try different things and by doing so... you get much more exposure to the club both locally and worldwide... Having an Ovum party quarterly would be great idea, especially rise of techno lately .. having a quarterly drum and bass event would be very beneficial in revenue and exposure... having an offshoot deep house night would be stellar for the scene down here.. If you educate them, they will come....

I dont know? It's just a thought.. my 2 cents worth anyways

Agree with you Danny ... won't add anything new to what you said ...

Missed Jimmy's set  ... somehow time flies ...

Going to Roland ... my impression and comment last nite was ... "Roly has got the hand of the terrace perfectly" ... you can feel his control and reads his crowd on the dot ... congratz bro ... well deserved success ...

Checked the major part of OG from the second floor ... in that balcony between the enrances to the vips ... I won't say anything new with this ... he controlled his crowd and just blew them once ... and again and again ... very nice set and awesome build up of energy for Greg ... had the chance to visit the dj booth for the first time ... pure class

Was able to hang for about an hour of Greg's set ... he looked like a space engineer ... checking his toys for his first set at Space ... you could feel his adrenaline ... sick ... sick ... nothing new ... but to see him at the new Space was simply a privilege ... got those german chicks just dancin' their arses off ...

great nite ... too bad this happens only once a month ... :hat:

  6. Wow ... what an awesome party you guys threw down ... only regret I have is to have missed Craig's opening set ...

great crowd + great freakin' music = great vibe

It felt once again like a re-birth of memorable nites at the beach ... things are starting to shape ... :D

Tons of cpers in da house ... music headz at heart ...

    :hat:

  7. I heard a break tune in Phil K's set with the vocals of "this is not a love song" - PIL ... woot!!!! ... gave me goose bumps ... I like the inclination towards it ... but wouldn't like to see all 200 80's cds i've got remixed ... :hat:

  8. It takes knowledge ... and opportunism to achieve the success of Space 34 ...

Anything can be improved ... and that certainly is true for Space ... few clubs can stay on top after three years ... few clubs can be in the frontyard of the world's elite club scene ... it is more than $$$ like some peepz who open clubs think ...

Those realize post-investment ... that being a real player demands a lot more than just their $$$ ... To gain the respect of the industry ... you got to respect the industry ... or at the very least ... understand how it works ... it is a small and loyal industry ...

Djs charge to play ... but ... like it or not ... they gain further respect for playing at Space 34 ... it is like playing the US Open or Wimbledon if you like analogies ...

If it wasn't for LP ... the music scene in Miami would be long gone in the eyes of the international scene ... and with that our Christmas in March aka WMC ...

We concentrate way to much time in criticizing ... few want to add to the scene perse ...

James wrote an objective review of Space 34 in last Sat's review ... there are so many more things that could be done at Space ...

Their local's nite this Saturday is an example ... so many of us suggested it in the past ... and for what Oscar wrote a few weeks back ... it will give the chance to many others in the future .. how does this relate to saving $$$? ... I am still trying to figure it out ...

The fact is ... acts like this Sats just gives back to our own the priviledge of being a part of the best club in the city ... and perhaps the nation ...

If we care for the scene ... and this is the main reason we spend our time writing on this board ... lets keep suggesting ... lets keep educating the peepz who know less about music ...

Last Friday many who would go on Fridays to Mynt ended up at Nerve ... it is a matter of taking the time to talk to them ... of explaining to them what is going on ... "give them an alternative to their weekly way of understanding nitelife" ...

It is our own effort which will solidify this scene ... respect the leader of it ... Space 34/LP ... and add to it ... there is room for everyone ...

In July 1981, producer Shep Pettibone asked Tony for a mastermix show tape to fill in for a no show on his KISS-FM NY radio show. A vacancy left by Pettibone at the station opened the door for his own permanent mix show. Simultaneously, schooled under the “I’ll-leave-you-in-the-booth-and-see-what-happens†antics of resident DJ Larry Patterson of NJ’s Club Zanzibar fame, resulted in him gaining “THE†residency in 1982.

Developing his creative experiences behind the recording studio’s control board only enhanced his style and magic. Artists like Mtume (Tony’s first gold record “Juicy Fruitâ€), Chaka Khan, Karen White, Regina Belle, Donna Summer, Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, and The Cover Girls were all governed by the “Humphries handicraftâ€.

By the mid to late 80’s, Tony became the sole helmsman weaving the tunes three nights a week, thus making dance music superstars out of local talent embedded in the heartland of Newark and her surrounding areas. Summoned across the Atlantic by the British in 1987. The “Jersey Sound†was coined by their press. In addition to traveling, remix projects mounting, pumping out a weekly radio mix show, and holding down the fort at the club, Tony was in his prime making the world of dance music exciting, hip, and refreshing.

By November 1990, his 8 year tenure ended with a tearful refrain, but this didn’t discourage Tony as he became in demand worldwide and relocated to London, England. In January of 1993, Tony took up the offer to be the resident jock at the Ministry of Sound club. That year was rounded off with a residency at “Echoes†in Rimini, Italy. This Italian residency continued for 4 years while simultaneously relocating back in NJ to launch his Yellorange Production Co.

It can be said that Tony Humphries has left an inerasable impression on the global dance music industry. To date over 300 venues he has gigged worldwide, done over 200 studio remixes, the latest being Janet Jackson’s hit “Together Againâ€. Throughout tremendous recognition, tons of awards and accolades from his peers, he has remained humble.

Indeed, the man... the music... the legend, Tony Humphries.
