On Saturday, January 20th, Kostume Kult presents “FURRIES & FLAPPERS/ UNDERGROUND SPEAKEASYâ€, a winter dance party, freaky fashion event and fundraiser for the group’s annual project at the Burning Man Arts Festival. Hosted by the most notorious themed events krewe in NYC, this event mixes amazing DJ’s with irreverent fun, roaring 20’s attire and anything furry, animal or cuddly. As always with Kostume Kult events, the result will be a great vibe, a very nice/ welcoming crowd, over-the-top creativity and an electric all-night dance scene. Heating up the dancefloor will be a stellar cast of international DJs. Tim “Journeyman†Fielding (of the much-lauded ‘Journeys By DJ’ mix series) will be joined by Reda Briki, Belgium’s Ulrich Hagen, Joey Jomai, Mic Rage and special guests taking you on a journey through a galaxy of music, fusing 1920’s dance music with deep House, funky Breaks and the groovier realms of Techno. In addition to a pumping dancefloor, at 1am there will be a special Furry-Flapper Fashion Show and Danceoff that's part fashion show, part interactive/ comedic theater with outrageous styles on the runway and a dance competition pitting the furries against the flappers/ gangsters. The event will also offer costume enhancements and martini specials (before midnight), furry comfort zones, all-nite drink specials and more. For the Furry & Flapper theme, participants are encouraged to come in any combination of fur, animal, feathers, “retro-gangsterâ€, flapper or any roaring 20’s styles. Be stylish, be dangerous, be cute & cuddly. Passwords will be assigned, subversion will be planned and dancing is inevitable.
