  1. DOn't know either, i've never heard him play but please don't expect him to be good based on his productions....
  2. never been into Jp or baez so it has nothing to do with being young (young i'm not ) but thanks for the compliment
  3. What did he do to beaz? juuuuiiicy deets pleez!
  4. Get used to it cawz gay people make the nitelife globe go round.. I'll be @ the babylons kiss party then heading to VC round 12pm Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!
  5. Mashup USAULLY refers to two(2) or more records (songs) that usually are hits in their own right and a dj/producer takes two or more songs and makes a new recording using the existing records (songs) out of the existing ones. mix could refer to variety of things but to set it apart from a mash-up, a mash-up is usually put out on the commrecial market via boot-legging/white labels/file sharing/p2p/what have you...

  7. The low end specialists need a proper residency also! BTW when did residencies turn into a monthly?
  8. sorry i was an era early i thought you were talking about that look - de'lacy - dc that's the way love is _ ten city - chitown and i confused lift me up w/ i get lifted - barbara tucker
  9. yes and so have many of the others... but look at the "famous" nydjs of now, do you know how long they were around b4 they were recognized? it's sad
  10. edubz the classics you named are from chicago, germany, ny, wash d.c., it's a worldwide thang baby! roger s paid his dues to new york, and new york could care less! he exposed his music to the world through his narcotic label, his remixes and the world accepted it so he took he oppurtunity, what would you do? none of the djs named have "sold out" because no dj is in a postion to "sell out". As a dj/producer if you are trying to pay youir rent with it and live off of it you BETTER be trying to expose your music to the world, i don't care if it was 10 years ago Or today...the goal is too spread the word about yourself all over the world.
  11. i think programming and mixing play an EQUAL part. speaking of krivit i've been listening to him since his traxx days in nyc. yes, i now alot never even heard of a "traxx' club in nyc) but anyways, he 's not big mixing no, he's tight here and there but you will hear him fuck-up or not focus too much on it...preference i guess but he DOES KNOW what to play, when to play it, how long to play it for, and what will make you raises your hands and say hallelujah!
  12. Good question: Some hoemgrown talent that really needs to take over this city with their acceptance of different genres, knowledge of the past, and a good direction for the future while having production skills to keep everyone interested: Joeski Midnight Society Quentin Harris Lunic Steve Tavolta Mike Costantini To name a few of course
  13. nooooooowwww mt is gonna straight up hate!!!! this is bullshit!!!! YEAH PEDRO IS GONNA PLAY, SURE HE MIGHT BE GOOD (I SAY that WITH CAUTION) BUT DON'T USE HIS FUCKING ACTING CAREER TO TRY TO MARKET THE MUTHAFUCKA!!!! FUCKING TOOLS!!!!!!!
  14. It is sooo sad how Roger S played at countless parties, even in small spaces in this city and people didn't really catch on to him meanwhile he was going to uk playing all the big festivals getting paid generous amount of money, but no love at home. Productions is what has taken the djs you mentioned you onto the world stage...their records seel in other countries therefore creating the demand. That same process is what's happening today in nyc.... we get spoonfed by parties like made (no i'm not hating on their parties) but alot of the djs they use have not been exposed to nyc crowds and vice versa. what has happened in the past? if i rememebr correctly i heard Jp, eddie baez, danny tenaglia in smaller venues years ago but productions is what brought them to the centerstage. you also have to consider what kinds of music they play & produce because if history tells us anything it's that the sound of true nyc djs is SOMETIMES not easliy transferrable worldwide. you don't see junior, jp, eddie baez, being asked to play uk and europe much. even Eastern europe is definitely not asking for them much.
  15. some great points made here....NYC NEEDS A NEW HERO!!!!
  16. Not really into his music but good read!
  17. excellant! thank you for reading, you have very valid points! this is a kind the of dialogue i like to spark. you and i both know there are those that could care less and are out to party, who cares if this club is here tomorrow? the people that live this life day in and out care! just like any product you always try to improve the product (sometimes goals aren't met) but the effort was made. we do need to adapt! we need to take responsibility for the parties that we throw and the trends that we set. guidos and asians have never hindered my clubbing experience but not everyone sees it like that.
  18. female. i didn't get where my statement made you say that but anyways WHO WENT? I WANT A REVIEW!?
  19. halarious carmine! reallyy funny but really don't think it's that serious, silverbull's comments that is... i chimed in with a similar statement. sure the SF schuffle is dancing and expressing yourslef but i'm trying to make note of the current state of nitelife where AS A GENERAL OBSERVATION it could be said that people aren't moving their asses as in the past..... consider this analogy AFTER 911....people were down, people were going out YES, NOT AS MUCH but the THEY WERE STILL GOING OUT ... YET most people that worked in clubs at the time were stating how it didn't feel right, the vibe wasn't there...why? did you think it might have something to do with how people (crowds) feel as a whole? how life was looking bleek for alot of people? how people's emotions were turned upside down? AFTER 911 people weren't "up for it" like they were before 911 were they? when people's sprits are down, the party isn't very good is it? SO... again the purpose of this thread is to trigger people's minds and ask themselves why aren't things the "way they used to be" ? sure we can grow, accept the good old days are gone now and move on.... but in that growth clubland, nitelife, etc. should study what went wrong in the past so that we can optimize the experience TODAY! IF i state that crowds aren't dancing like they once did i'm going to go through the process on why that is (PERSONALLY I' M INVOLVED IN NITELIFE AND THE INDUSTRY AROUND IT SO IT DOES MATTER TO ME) those that are just out for a good time on a saturday night might not/ probably won't give a shit, it makes sense. BUT as someone who depends on this industries' health for their livelihood it damn sure matters to me! consider it
  20. I second that, but let's wait and see what the reporters say. From what i read in another email the person organzing this whole thing wrote a very vague email addressing the how willie need help but did not address the issue directly. he did in fact make it sound like willie is "sick" which means HIV. They are making a mistake by not addressing it straight on....mony is involved so if people are to donate for a good cause HONESTY is key. If he is "sick" w/ HIV, god bless him, there is nothing to be ashamed of. we all need help sometimes
  21. I think Mr. bull has a valid point, you can't find many dance circles in the big rooms. The dancers at shelter, 718 , etc... let's call them the "deep house" parties; The dancers at these parties are very isolated and don't attend the big room parties such at spirit, crobar on a regular or consistent basis. let's admit it, the circles at SF were of not the best quality with shirtless boys jumping in not as much as to dance but to look for attention and let the girls see you flex your pecks. but forget cirlces! I made this thread up to address dance culture (which includes but is not limited to DANCE circles) As a whole club patrons have lost their rhythm. as a generalization, everyone is doing the two-step schuffle, bobbing their heads, jumping up & down. those of us who were not in those dance circles were still groovin' to the beat and doing some dance moves to EXPRESS OURSELVES THRU THE MOVEMENTS ... and don't tell me drugs have fucked it up ...cuz muthafuckas was high than ever back in the day more than they are now but they were moving, feeling free. This brings us back to how the music influences us and the way we move...could the beats be too fast?? how much bodily expression can you express at 135-140bpm? are there not enough musical elements in these drum filled, bassline driven tracks? Are these loop driven driven tracks addressing the mind and not the body. When there is alot of movement in the music itself it causes people to move accordingly...think about it... discuss.
