  1. judging by the way it looked on Friday... BUT you never know, they could be doing heavy overtime to make sure the opening goes smoothly... the condition it was in on Friday just didnt seem realistic for it to be opening this Wed (which is the industry opening with the who's who, and what not, i believe?)... then again, they wouldnt want to be hurt by such a hugely anticipated weekend to just NOT happen, so im sure theyd shell out the extra bucks to make sure it was hurried from Fri to Wed morning, altho, i would expect some structural problems like Webster Hall hahahaha
  2. doubt theyd book him there.... theres so many stereotypes and problems associated with the JP crowd that they wouldnt want Pacha to be compared to Sound Factory.... when you hear the word Pacha, they want you to think fun house music, spacious VIP, glamour and gold.... im actually surprised theyre briging in Steve Lawler in a few weeks considering his style of house, but JP, ill give him a year and MAYBE hell be booked there....
  3. its not about bragging... its about New York having a certain aura attached to it whenever u mention the club scene there... this past summer i met a bunch of people in Italy and it came up in conversation that i spun at Shelter here in the city... they were like "WOW! you spun at the Shelter????"... i dont know, but obviously theyve heard stories about these places, Limelight, Carbon, Tunnel... all the NYC DJs are huge there... Morales, Morillo, Tenaglia, Tomiie, Sanchez... theres no more innovation, no more aura when you say youre from New York anymore, except for these old DJs from last decade... now when you say youre from Amsterdam or Berlin, theres a certain "wow!" attached to it... you have visions of huge events, and constantly innovative music...
  4. thats what i like to hear.... i myself left Scot Project @ Avalon around 5 to head over to Spirit for Armand Van Helden back in September (you guys know what happened that night) haha but the point is, it doesnt get more varied than that... the key is to be open minded.... Danny Howells on Friday night and Filo and Peri the night after... gotta show love for all the genres... ive even supported Timmy Regisford at Shelter.... and yes, im only 18... i wish people my age would be just as open minded
  5. and i stand by my comments... i really dont think theyll open in time haha no joke
  6. hahaha.... JEN... funny watching guys holla at you online, pretty pathetic... fun times breaking into Pacha and getting kicked out on Friday... you --> "OH MY GOD, THE CHERRIES!".... me --> talkin in spanish to the workers... hahaha oh lord... youre gunna break a lot of hearts (and land some guys in jail judging by the age of some of the members here ;-)
  7. you havent seen PvD or Armin or Scot Project or almost any trance DJ that has been in New York in the past few years then? PvD will play some of the most amazing trance melodies and then lay down some hard tech and somehow, amazingly change into a period of house that will get any crowd going wild... plays some breaks now and then too.... Armin the same although he travels less on the perifery of other music... Scot played "yeah" by Steve Angello and Seb Ingrosso... i dont see Steve Angello and Seb Ingrosso playing anything by Scot Project do i?.... have you seen G&D spin before? some like to claim them as their own, as HOUSE DJs, but no, theyre trance DJs, and like it or not, they rip it everytime with such a varied track selection... think about the house DJs that run New York right now.... Roger Sanchez, Boris, (Sander K is an exception, hes the best in my opinion), Morales, Calderone.... do they play anything besides house? think not..... have you ever seen a live trance PA? something like Nu NRG or PUSH or Rank1? theyre as unpredictable and live as you get... no spinning records, no beatmatching... just live insanity with tons of gear they use to make and manipulate sounds right there on the spot, you dont get any better or more talented than that
  8. ARMIN...... and Sander K
  9. oh nice!... i attended and helped promote Warehouse @ Spirit and then stopped because it seemed like it died out... can you post some more info? closing time, age? Warehouse @ Spirit had a nice looking crowd, and sick beats all around, i just wish more people showed up, so this should be nice... the sound @ Deep is riduculous, ive spun there, and the booth is one of the best in NYC, surprisingly, better than Spirit's, Avalon's, and Roxy's... ill check it out if its 18+!
  10. i, for one, am not Asian, so i know the people coming to see me that im promoting to arent an Asian crowd, so you dont have to be either!!! expect energetic trance all around... i know my fellow DJs Mark Ian and Kali-D are great, dunno about the others (altho i think the others are scatterd about the chapel and Spider Room lineups)... check it out!... lemme know if u want in on reduced admission, on the STROBE LIFE guestlist... MrRetox@gmail.com
