its a good idea, minus the everyone-dropping-10$ thing.... ur casting so wouldnt you have to supply the money to get people to wanna come? just my thoughts; i think you might get a bunch of posers that wanna be on a DVD rather than true circle killers who do it cos they enjoy it... just dont think ne1 would pay to go out of their way for something that comes natural on any given weekend... good luck though, ill pick up the book :-)

nah, Mauro hasnt played any trance for a good 5 years now... its a whole part of his career that hes just blocked out... hes really gone into a lot of electroey tech lately, its good but in moderation.

in some cases, you put money down and then take money made from the door... also, tuesday parties are really hard to market, so if its a new place and is desperate, dont be afraid to offer your services on wednesdays or thursdays (even if they would pay u less, it would still be easier to get people out on those nights, thus u'd be getting more people and indirectly making more money)... like silverbull said, it sounds like you want to run a guestlist, if youre talking about commission? thats a whole other thing... if you have more details, i can give u some more ideas

cos that has ne relevance to this debate? if anything, im sounding more mature than my age, telling people to go out and see other DJs and venues instead of just one, would you not agree? should be sighing at the 19 year olds that cream over one DJ and refuse to hear anything else

i also think its ignorant for half the girls there to go there solely for the purpose of looking pretty.... too many girls are worried weeks in advanced of "making" their outfits for the big JP party (omg!!!!).... whatever happened to the importance of music?

im glad you feel that way^^^most people are too quick to hate... i personally am a trance, house, and tech addict, so im basically close-minded to nothing... passion for the music is what counts, as long as some1 opens their eyes to other things :-)

its ignorant that we think a DJ isnt good? i think its ignorant for half JPs crowd to only go to JP parties... i go cos i get in free and its something to do, and when i go there, i see kids i never see out ne where else... as huge of a trance fan i am, house is my other love and when a good DJs in town (Lawler, Oscar G, DT, etc) im there.... the people i know that are "diehard JP" or "diehard house" fans come out once a month and thats to see JP... they dont know about anyone else... ...i think i have a right to judge a DJ as good or bad... im only 19 and playing at Avalon this Saturday night/Sunday morning from 4-7 on main floor... hate on the club or hate on trance music all you want, but im not just another hater, i know what it takes

the ignorant people that like JP are the ignorant people that like Tiesto.... most real trance fans ackowledge Tiesto as way past his prime.... the crowd on line outside a Tiesto gig looks the same as a line outside a JP party, minus the "JP @ ABYSS" shirts or whatever his next gig is.... so, bad example to make fun of a trance crowd by mentioning Tiesto.... the same elements that are plaguing JP parties are the same things ruining the A-list trance parties as well... these little kids, these old asians, and this ignorance to anything other than the DJ theyre seeing....

theres a few pretty good Russian trance acts.... Vadim Zukhov Bobina i know of a few others, but i cant remember their names right now

put me in a parking lot and a really entertaining DJ like Scot Project or Marco V spinning in the trunk of a truck and im good

you also gotta keep in mind (i dont know which club these promoters are from) but some clubs in New York try to maintain a mainly house lineup of DJs while also providing the trance and tech DJ here and there.... sure many of the members of management probably dont like any of the trance or tech artists but do it because people will come and the club is keeping nice variation in its lineup.... but youre right, the guy in scenario one sounds like a soulless dick and theres a million people that would wish to be in his spot (if you mean promoting, as in, not just running a guestlist but actually coordinating the events)

im as big a trance fan as you can get, and i have to say that i dont wanna support Tiesto... hes become nothing but a a halfway decent trance DJ with nothing mindblowing in the past 2-3 years.... in the end, what makes these parties so great are the shows and spectacle of it all and not the DJ itself, which isnt what the purpose of trance or any EDM is.... the true vibe is in a club, where the music belongs... sure id love to go to a stadium party, but not where the focus is off the DJ and more toward the actual show.... i just dont like Tiesto ne more, hes nothing special
