  1. Baltimore is a city that cherishes its taverns and the many distinct neighborhoods of Charm City are filled with thriving neighborhood bars. Link To Original Article
  2. We're hard pressed to find anything more frightening than the notion of a bunch of poseurs in costumes. It's hard enough to figure these types out when they're half-naked, so imagine what it's like when they're fully clothed -- as other people, no less -- on Halloween. The horror will be exacerbated Tuesday, when a traveling party known as Modelween will hit Nocturnal with the theme, ''The Party With the Stars,'' in which, according to a press release, ''All of the models and their guests will be... 3. Halloween used to be my favorite holiday. Days before Oct. 31, my mom would stock the kitchen cabinets with millions of miniature 3 Musketeers bars, enormous amounts of M&M's and tons of Twizzlers. We had enough candy in our house to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner but come Halloween, the cupboards were bare. Thanks to my sister and me (and my dad), we had to keep the lights off and pretend nobody was home because we had nothing left to hand out to the trick-or-treaters. Link To Original Article
  4. Madonna. Babs. And now Andrea Bocelli. If you're going to see the best, you might have to tap into your savings. The Italian tenor's majestic voice will fill the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood on Dec. 1. Tickets top out at $500 -- not quite matching Barbra Streisand's $752.75 tab, but easily besting Madonna's $362 max. Link To Original Article

  10. The Carnival Center for the Performing Arts isn't the only game in town for shows and spectacles, you know. No, we're not referring to South Beach as spectacle in general, although some nights it makes Cirque du Soleil look amateur, but, rather a new spot in Little Havana that readers have pointed out:: Kimbaracumbara, 1644 SW Eighth St. The place formerly known as Joe's Bar and now named after a Celia Cruz song is packing in crowds with live performances by the likes of Luis Enrique... 14. Justin Timberlake, who's obviously said Bye, Bye, Bye to his innocent 'N Sync persona, says he's bringing sexy back, 'cuz them other boys don't know how to act. Catch the falsetto-loving singer in two shows -- Feb. 24 at Miami's AmericanAirlines Arena and Feb. 25 at Sunrise's BankAtlantic Center, with Pink, who will help get the party started. Tickets ($55 and $85) go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through Ticketmaster. Link To Original Article

  17. Drag diva Elaine Lancaster, a close friend of Carmen Electra's, left her hosting duties at Prive to say hello to Electra's erstwhile ex Dave Navarro, who was hosting a party at Mansion Friday night. According to Lancaster, ``We caught up on what's been going on and talked about our mutual love for Carmen, who was in New York working. Dave said he has no desire to date anyone at this time.'' 18. If your dreams of eternal youth haven't yet come true, but you still insist on partying like you're 29, it's OK, because an older, more seasoned group of nightlifers are helping take back the nightlife, making it cool to go out even if you have moved past the Lindsay Lohan demographic. Studio A personality Fancy said it best in a recent interview with Miami's sassy Ignore Magazine: ''Nobody lives in Miami past 24. If you noticed, there's no such thing as a 25-year-old in Miami. There's like a 35-year-old... Link To Original Article
  19. Top three reasons why October is my favorite month of the year: Although I discover a new gray hair every day, I feel fortunate to celebrate yet another birthday. The days of getting singed by the metal clasp of my seat belt are nearly over. Finally, it cools down in South Florida. Oktoberfest! Link To Original Article
  20. If any one name perfectly embodies the term ''superstar DJ,'' it's got to be Paul Oakenfold. He's simply done it all in the electronic and rock music worlds, from producing bands, remixing countless hit tracks, headlining at the world's hottest nightclubs, creating sizzling compilation mixes for Perfecto and Global Underground labels and being chosen as the opening DJ on U2's world tour in the '90s, and now Madonna's shows in Europe. Oakie took time to talk to The Miami Herald to tout his show Saturday... Link To Original Article
  21. Miami hasn't seen a Carnival this big since P.T. Barnum was alive. Then again, Miami probably wasn't on Barnum's radar back then because it just wasn't, well, a cultural city. Who would've thought that a cruise line with a penchant for neon lights would ultimately bring this city's most sophisticated cultural center to life? Only in Miami, indeed, would a performing arts center be named after its biggest donor, Carnival -- as in Carnival Cruise Lines. Kudos to the... Link To Original Article
  22. Miami clubbers who remember the ''Anthem'' parties on Sunday nights at crobar are very familiar with Victor Calderone. The Brooklyn-born DJ -- who has bounced between the Big Apple and South Florida scenes for years -- is one of the pioneers of the New York house sound. He'll blow up the room Saturday night at Twilo with his dark, hard-core tribal tracks; 305-350-1851. Link To Original Article
  23. The crowd might be jumping even more than usual at Space Saturday night as Donald Glaude steps behind the decks. The West Coast DJ's energetic mix of uplifting beats and down-and-dirty tribal rhythms brings to mind DJ Dan, Steve Lawler and Saeed & Palash, but he can also handle drum 'n' bass and chill-out as well. But you won't hear any chill-out in Space's main room. After-hours on the terrace with Cedric Gervais, Ivano Bellini and Parantula; 305-375-0001. Link To Original Article
  24. New York house legend Armand Van Helden is equally capable of turning an Ace of Base, Janet Jackson or Diddy track into a move-your-feet dance-floor anthem or creating diabolical original tunes such as Witch Doktor and Flowerz. But what you really want to hear are the Sample Slaya's dirty remixes of Tori Amos' Professional Widow, Sneaker Pimps' Spin Spin Sugar and CJ Bollands' Sugar Is Sweeter. You'll get that chance tonight at Twilo (doors open at 11); 305-350-1851. Link To Original Article
