And when was it the best club in NYC?!

Even back in the day when it wasn't AS bad, Tunnel and Twilo were giving it a run for it's money.

Read the post ONE of the best. The Saturday night party was unbelievable.

I can remember two lines one going up to 11th Ave around the corner and

the other going down to 12th Ave.

I think EXIT used to have something to offer...among other things a HUGE club experience.

but long lines don't necessarily mean it was a great club - just popular. it was never my favorite cause it was never my type of crowd. some nights they've had great music though.

last long time can't stand the place though...i cringe when people i want to hear are spinning there. too bad cause there is so much potential

I also think to anyone who never clubbed in nyc, EXIT was almost what u pictured it to be....

u walk into a place that you've never seen so damn big...lights everywhere, tv screens, people everywhere, madd rooms, hard house beats that you couldnt ID if u tried.... ahh the innocence--

Imagine Fridays used to be awesome--but as peoples tastes expanded, people wanted to go elsewhere...but for a minute, exit was the spot...I knew people who went there EVERY friday for months straight--

but then the downfall occured....security and staff there seemed to go from being un-noticed to being dicks...drugs were always there but it seemed more and more like every single person there was rolling--the crowd became more relaxed as did the dress code...(hey Im all for dressing comfortably when i wanna dance my ass off....but if i spend an hr or so gettin dressed and looking nice to get in, then i see some kid get in with UFO's on, strings flying everywhere and a cutoff shirt on that is all ripped and a baseball cap on--i get a lil frustrated)....

the whole AVB fiasco was one of the last straws for me--i call the club when i kno he's not there to have some girl insist that he's 'setting up in the dj booth' AT 6PM?? when meanwhile he's not even in the US...

of course I also had numerous DJ deals there that made me want to burn the place...including the fact that my DJ partner, who i used to spin with arrived to exit 30 mins after me and was not allowed in...and the wack promoters who i worked for at the time refused to go get him at the door--

Then there was the white room fiasco with one of our own, DJ Jon Stephen, during the cosmic gate nite, none of us were allowed into the room to see him spin, even tho he sold some of us ticks that were supposed to get us in there..Since no one bought a bottle, we couldnt get in--

There are many more 'horror stories' that could be posted but theres no need to. I just put this up here b/c certain exit supporters on the board feel like some of us are 'obsessed' with hating exit. Its not that. There are reasons why we dont like that place. But like Legend said, if u can go to exit and enjoy urself then by all means do so...have fun there on fridays...its ur life and ur money...and ur decision how to spend it--

I do hope sometime in the future David sells exit and someone else reopens it and runs things the proper way.

It all was killed when the rennovations took place. I think the place was turned in a ritzy shittier club, but it had a great thing going before when it was much more grungier. The bathrooms for men and women moved a lost faster then the stalls they have now. There was more room on the balcony, and the vibe was just there. I think they tried to make the club into something it wasn't and a lot of the old crowd felt like they needed to find a new place to party....

I miss the choices between Tunnel, Twilo, and Limelight, all these other clubs are getting flooded with weird crowds, LOL!

I still think NYC clubs have a lot to offer, I enjoy ARC and ROXY cause of all the cool new talent they have coming in, not to mention the air conditioning.

Exit wasn't too bad when it first opened but after the first few months it became old...but just along with any club... it becomes the hot new spot & it eventually dies out....What happened with Exit will eventually happen with Roxy people will get sick of it & the crowd will eventually change

hey, all of your above mentioned reasons why you think "EXIT SUCKS!" are all legitimate. If some of that shit happened to me I might feel the same way. But, if you just stop going, the problem is taken care of. The thing that annoys me like crazy, is some people's insistance on bashing the place in random unrelated threads just to make sure that EVERY SINGLE person knows that they hate the place. Example...a couple of weeks ago someone made a post announcing his first gig in Exit's red room. His post was just to let people know he'd be there, maybe get some kids there to support him. Immediately the thread became an anti-Exit tirade and the point of the kid's post was lost. There's just no need for that shit. It's just pointless. I mean, think about it. What if the next time you had a big thing at a club, and posted an announcment about it, people started jumping down your throat about how horrible the club you were spinning in is. it would be a little rediculous. My point is, if you hate the place, hate it....just stop going. But just let it go already. I know how traumatic some people's experiences at Exit have been, but everything is going to be ok, I promise.

M. Bugout seem to share somewhat of the views I have about Exit.

Don't get me wrong I use too love that place. That was my spot. Then

the employee's/ security started treating people like shit. That's one of

many reasons the vibe died.

You can't expect people to come back to your club after paying

30 bucks then escort them to the bathroom and stick a flash light up their ass.

Then say OK your clean have a good night.

The final straw for me was when I was ask to take off my shoes. At that

moment I wanted to say screw the money and get the hell out of there.

I don't hate on Exit just to hate, there are many other reasons. Let me say

can't wait for that place to go up in smoke..............................And let's not forget

the time david almost run me over in times square with the Bently I help

pay for.......

LOL.. Mikey knows I love him.. but he also knows that when I went to Exit you better believe I was dressed COMFORTABLY and I looked damn cute in my UFOs. ;) There is a time and a place to dress up and Exit was definitely not one of them.

Very well put, although i continue to go i feel these same DJ pains working with Exit promoters..but what can i say, i have 20 friends in CT who will come to NY to hear me play, is there another option?

And yes Exit is the vision of NYC clubbing to many of those not familiar with the scene. To many people these issues are not issues at all. Just goes with the territory...ahh well

For me Exit started on the downhill since beginning of summer 2001. I was going every single week from Summer 2000 all the way to December 2001 when Roxy opened up with there Sexy Friday party. I think the point where itjust totally went downhill was after the renovations. It just wasn't the Exit that I grew to love. Exit it totally not how it used to be for me now. I dunno what it is. I remember the balcony used to be a safe haven for me if the crowd on the mainfloor got to packed. But it's not even that anymore, there's no more room with all those stupid ass booths sticking out, and when i do wanna find a seat to sit down in, I go to each and everyone of those booths and I find people all drugged up and passed out with glowsticks waving in front of people's faces. It's just like WTF.

Nevertheless, there's still a special place for Exit in me. I've been trying to hit it up once a month for the past few months. I had good times, but nothing like the times I had 2 years ago at Exit. The last really great night at Exit was on 4/26 this year for Draper's return. Might be even the best night of Exit for me ever. It was almost like old times that night.

True that, in fact i danced to Mike @ Bad Boy Bill in my Caffiene's and had a great timee.......but i think ROXY and Centro pretty much eliminating their dress codes earlier this year was the end of the line though..........Of course there is the right time for everything, but to clubs money is everything, and they get the most money by turning away no one over 21,18,16(or whatever the age is), no matter how they are dressed or wether they even know the DJ's name who is spinning.

Everyone hates on EXIT, including me (at times)......but if we looked at the paperwork, i EXIT is making more money than ANY CLUB in NYC. Why would they change anything (Isn't it like a $10 fee on the ATM?)????

I am pretty sure no one can name on promoter or club who honestly cares more about the people than the money.......

F UFOS...CMON LADIES>>>>LET THE ASS SHOW!!!

some of u ladies have some nice behinds and ufo's just don't express it correctly. Cody neglected to mention that along with her UFOs she wore matching bikini tops which were appriciated by all:clap:

As for dress code being eliminated, not a chance. Roxy still has a dress code and I know of numerous people who get turned away each week (even some CP'rs unfortunately)

Like i said, Im all about Be Yourself and Be Comfortable, but honestly, there is a way to dress when ur chillin on the coach eating twinkies, and theres a way to dress when u hit a nightclub in NYC. I EXPECT the standard to be higher in NYC, its what makes our city ours. Let nightclubs in Albequerque, New Mexico eliminate dress code. When i go out in the city, i wanna see some STYLE....but in case u have a different view, there are places u can go....such as Arc on fridays, and the list goes on..

has dress code come down a few notches, certainly...My first time @ SF 2 yrs ago Paris threw 2 guys off the line b/c they had jeans on and yelled "This aint no rodeo!!" Now u can even get in there with windbreakers on...crazy....

Zeeker ur point is understood. When i started with exit i met lots of resistence....its gonna be everywhere...I've had posts about me spinning turn into the most random topics and lose the focus, it happens. Funny thing is....its used to be that u could put Spinning @ Exit on ur resume no matter what room and get some dap--nowadays who HASNT spun at exit in some capacity...and if u havent, PM a promoter b/c they are looking for new 'talent'....aka 'ticket sellers' pssst dont tell anyone...;)

Cody--you know I prefer u without clothes on anyway but if u have to wear those god-forsaken pants, i guess its okay. BUT ONLY YOU...no one else..

LET THE ASS SHOW!!!

First of all Exit always sucked!!! 10 rooms playing the same exact music except for the hip hop room of coarse. Not only does the club look so "glam" it should be in la and most of the people who go there dont know music from their ass..Exit aint no REAL Nightclub it just gave a place for all the commercialized retards out there a place to go and when they got home they watched mtv and ironed their silk shirts and there leopard skin pants..

Long LIVE TUNNEL!!!!!!! and LIMELIGHT!!!.
