Wow. i cant believe how much it affected people. I thought i was a bit extra for worrying about that sort of thing. Here, people seem to just carry on as normal, although we're obviously not affected as much.

I have been to the government travel websites and theyre advising against doing anything overtly 'touristy'...so now im going to LA and not supposed to be doing anything touristy...Im not a touristy person but i at least wanted to go to the Walk of Fame etc and my friends are dragging me to Universal. Oh im so confused...

wow - the gov't is advising against visiting tourist attractions? that's pretty intense... i don't think it's all that crazy. it's all so unpredictable; if some crazy terrorists were to blow up some place in l.a., who's to say it'd be universal instead of the business district, downtown?

as has been said before, we can't all just put our lives on hold, waiting for something terrible to happen :worry: . my brother's coming to visit in a few weeks, and i'm taking him to disneyland - just try and stop me :D .

"Following Presidents Bush's address to the United States on 17 March, which gave Saddam Hussein and his sons 48 hours to leave Iraq, the US government raised its threat assessment to US interests to high (orange) " and so on.... watch out for "...people acting suspiciously around an obviously 'Western' institution or gathering..."

"These attacks, those in Bali and Mombasa in particular, show that terrorists are prepared to attack the least well protected targets, such as innocent holidaymakers, as long as they can be seen to hit at 'Western' interests"

Scary stuff from: www.fco.gov.uk/travel

So that makes a paranoid person like me worse. But im determined to go, i am just looking forward to the LA weather, clubs, shops too much. I do agree that life cant stand still!

I would really not be concerned at all, this is LA LA Land, what do we have that would make a statement to be blown up?!?! A movie studio, disnetland maybe.....that would be a long shot though.

Come on over, enjoy the sites, do the touristy thingy and have fun!

(I live in Hollywood, just a couple of blocks from the Chinese Theater and I am really not concerned at at all about my safty!)

Sorry to hear you're delaying your plans.

While LALate is very busy at the moment (because of growth), attendance IS off at venues, not noticeable unless you know the venues quite well --- in essence, the venues are still packed, just not AS packed (but some venues we saw open on some weekdays are closed some weeknights lately).

July is nice in LA though.

Im sure this topic has been covered but... here goes anyway.

I just moved back to LA from Houston where I lived for 5 years. I have no idea whats going on in LA.

Ive been to a couple of bars and clubs in Hermoas and Pasadena so far and I like the night life.

I looking for a GREAT house or trance club... trendy... and upscale but where people still dance their ass off. Im also looking for a great after hours.

Can anyone out there give me the heads up? Im looking to party pretty hard

Hi lalate,

Well it looks like it had been affected. Thats a shame because i think we should just live our lives while we're young, and not have to let things out of our control affect our habits.

Oh well, looks like ill be seeing you guys in july - at least it will be HOT HOT HOT! :D

Hi

I promote for The Sunset Room saturdays, right now we are packing about 900 to 1100 people on a weekly basis. We spin Hip-Hop in the main room and house, trance and salsa outside.

If you look at city search or most other places it is ranked on of the top clubs to go to in LA.

We will also be starting Garden of Eden on 4/17/03 and every thursday after that

anyways to get on the guest list call me Jeff at (818)653-2489

Congrats on the number of heads. Great job.

(If you aren't at capacity, and want us to increase the numbers for you, drop us a note because no one comes close to our database for LA. Send us your info (events, etc.). We do have Sunset Room Sat and Garden of Eden Thurs already covered ... but let's talk more.) Take care.

fyi lapromoter ---

the May 22 one sounds very good.

Clubgoers generally dont go to a venue cuz of themes (although we personaly think they are cool, esp if you got great artwork in the mailers).... the draw is generally the venue (which you got) or the giveaways (like on May 22 for example) or the product launches (album releases, etc.)

Keep up the good work.

Send us the info - info@lalate.com

i agree with you homie lol.

Highlands on Hollywood which our subscribers luved --- let's just say, that night, clothing was practically optional lol! That did well.

Another time, we pushed a Playboy bed party @ Garden last year .. they had a friggen BED on the street there with red carpet -- the people luved it and were salivating .... That did well (but was free and catered so that helped.)

But, we pushed a pajama party south of marina del rey that same time. No one wanted it.

It just depends.

(Well, off to hit the gym, here, to win that hotbody contest on May 29! Cabo here we come!)

  • 3 weeks later...

I would have put the LA tanning week right before the Hot Body Week --- so you try to get your patrons all tan one week and showing it off the next week and the venue again lol j/k

So is the hot body contest for girls and guys?

How about a team competition? lol. I think all the nightlife organizers in town should get their guestlists and referrals together in a team competition hot body contest and see which organizer has the hottest guestlist team! How cool what that be?! lol
