rackham Posted July 9 Report Share Posted July 9 About 40 minutes.Too much longer and I start feeling overtrained and lose my motivation to go to the gym.This overtraining effect has actually been documented and linked to the catabolic hormone cortisol, which your body starts producing during intense exercise (assuming you're actually working out and not just standing around gawking at the gym bunnies).Cortisol also reduces your T-cell count, so shorter workouts are better for your immune system as well.
