I had several, and all I did was frequent a place (during the week, so I would stand out more) for awhile, be really nice to the door men (whatever slut thinks she has to "play" to get in is an idiot), and in weeks I was IN baby! It's not rocket science. However, whoever went with more than two guy friends...Couldn't you just ask a lady friend out, and buy her some drinks, divided between four guys? "places like Opium" is the key phrase from my original post. I ended up at Crobar too... talked to some "important people":confused: and met a few girls... but all I was trying to say is that it is almost expected to have that type of "policy" at the door of "clubs like Opium". And I COMPLETELY agree... it shouldn't be a hassel... and I've been everyhwere else in the world and Miami is the worst, but they all have "their Opium". I come from the "Old School" of being a dirty-stay-out with baggy pants driving to Ahhz in Orlando and Mars in Cocoa Beach and filling up 3 buses of "ravers" to go to Simon's Gemini party in '94 or Zen 1 & 2 and the list goes on. Meng... I've been to only 5 Rabbit shows, but I'm pretty sure I can relate. I am the guy who goes to Chicago with 11 of his buddies who are too cool for the clubs I like, so I hop in a cab and dance all night BY MYSELF to Derrick Carter... And also the same guy who goes to Vancouver and doesn't wanna deal with "the Opium" they have there so I hop in a cab BY MYSELF and dance all night to Jay Tripwire, so don't preach to the choir about all that crap.... You have to remember that he gets hundreds of people telling him that they're friends of the owner, or DJ's, or whatever, and if he doesn't know you the first time you attend the club it's really not his fault.On Friday at 12.10, he actually asked everyone on the CoolJunkie list to raise their hands, and took care of everyone waiting so that they wouldn't have to pay full cover. We didn't ask him to do that, and it was a classy move. The door guys don't set the rules, they're just asked to follow them. No club really gives the doormen "freedom" anymore unless they're Fabrizio or Doorman Gilbert (old-school), in that case the doormen telll the club what's what...Opium's door crew is merely doing what the managment wants...example, check Opium during WMC, and if the Opium guys are handling door, it's quite different.I've dealt with the Opium door on a business and "normal going out" level...in both instances, I go there solo or with 1 girl. If guy friends ask to come along, I tell them that it will make things worse, and to just show up on their own, or with girls...not only applies to Opium, but any club with a pick-and-choose door...just got to be crafty.
