I Challenge DJ Domenick Capello

I was there from 10 - 2. And in 4 hours, I only saw 2 records spun the whole night. When he pulled out the first one at around 1230, I almost went into shock.

Mostly CDs and a lot of playing with the EFX-500.. Like I said. I would love to see him on 2 Technics and a Rane. NO CD players, and NO EFX.

And he has the balls to put DJ in front of his name. On top of that you have these promoters who book him. :blown:

He's probably just another idiot "promoter" who books himself thinking that he's the next big DJ, just like the rest of these idiots that helped to ruin our scene and our jobs.

But then again, I don't know him personally.

the party was horrible. My friends and I wanted to get out of there ASAP. It was soo bad I almost wanted to cry :( I waited till 2am because Reina was supposed to perform. She never showed up. And just because you can produce a song that gets played on WKTU doesnt mean you can DJ at a club.

The funny part is you said you wanted out cause it was bad. Then you say you waited till 2 am to hear Reina? I may be mistaking cause I have no idea who reina is, but don't theyu play her shit on KTU? and if so wouldn't you be sick of the song already. You stayed even though it sucked, so you have no one to blame but yourself

i usually dont write back to mindless posts but i figured i would like to set some things straight:

do me a favor ok, grow up and come out of your basement and come and talk to me in person when you know what went on...

lets talk bout the facts of the night...

you like to comment when :

i play a total of LITERALLY 5 songs the spread out through the whole night at a party i was trying to run and dj at the same time..

why dont you write i was running around like a madman with my partner trying keeping shit in order..

why dont you talk bout how the sound system was fucked up and the cd player was skipping cause we were on stage basically on top of a bass bin...

how bout that we had no monitors..

how bout that we needed to use the efx for when the cd player would shut off in the middle of no where...

why dont you talk about how there was too much bass response on the turntables that we couldnt even use them without a massive hum...

you like to talk a lot of shit when you dont know whats going on.

i am sorry but i am not going to play records on a pair of turntables that are generating bass feedback.

and unfortunately the efx was needed for the nite considering the circumstances with the cd player.

also, what are we in the wild west, you are calling me out?

if you want to CHALLENGE me, go ahead, i will meet u in front of the town saloon and we can have a duel.

come talk to me when :

1. you have a clue about what happened about the event you are talking about.

2. when i play an actual SET and im not trying to run a party running back and forth off the stage

lots of people like to talk bout djs when they dont know the circumstances that they are working under. there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that you some people obviously just dont understand.

its pretty stupid to make most of these comments , and a good amount because of ignorance , not stupidity, but ignornace which basically means you dont know or understand.

if you want to talk , pm me, ill even let you come down and play and experience what we had to work with.

also thank you to all those who support and have a clue.

thank you.

Sounds like you bit off more than you could chew. Sounds like poor planning or lack there of and mis-management.

Promoters should never dj and djs should never be promoters.

Do one thing and do it well. Hope you learned your lession because clubland as it is today doesn't need another cluster fuck night club.

I may be mistaken but isnt the point of a dj to entertain a crowd and provide music to people? Or is ithe point of a dj to see who can play with the most equiptment and use a turbo charged EFX 5000 serious with a 5 Techno and Rane thigamagic. Im sure the people on the dancefloor are concerned with what equipment he is using. Instead of dancing and enjoying music at clubs, we all should stalk the dj to make sure he is using the right technology, and the right effects. I feel bad for you that you spent ur whole night noticing what records dom pulled out and at what time. But if you had fun, more power to you. BTW mr EFX 5000 - do you spin anywhere or do you just talk shit?

its alright ian, no hard feelings. i originally wasnt gonna post but i just figured id try to make you guys understand where i was coming from.

anyway the party did about 500 people.. it was a great vibe for an 18+ crowd. for the next party we hired a lot more promoters and fixed alot of management issues with the club so hopefully i can actually dj for more than 5 mintues at a shot with working equipment.. the club is also getting renovated and a new sound and light system for dec 6 which will be the grand opening.

thanks

I think for anyone who has never played in front of a crowd they have no idea what it can be like.

I don't know if the kid that started this thread is a working DJ and not a basement DJ, but I played out for the first time recently, and believe me my hands were shaking and there is like a timer clicking away as you are trying to mix into the next record and start running out of wax....

I also don't think it's fair to attack this guy for the party, b/c I can also attest to the complexity and bullshit that goes along with that. It's a lot more work than it appears.

It is a good point that maybe Dom bit off more than he can chew w/ being both DJ and Promoter, that cannot be easy.

But really man, don't come on here and tear into someone until you have been there and done it better.

And if you have, then you would be more knowledgeable of the situation and hopefully wouldn't have written that.

Bottom line, come on here and give a bad review for a party, fine. That's what this board is for. But if you really REALLY have a problem with it, then do the most effective thing and don't spend your $$$ there.
