housedog
Not to say anything bad but you are saying is best years are behind him? Or he spins good when he trys? Do you think it is because of the the drugs he consumes? Do you think if he stopped doing drugs (if he does do them) he will spin like he use to?The reason I ask is, I don't know how long tina has been in SF? Shit! I never even went to SF. I wanted to, but didnt. But it sounds like before it came along JP was doing his thing. I am just guessing here, I really have no idea? Also, its not that people thing hes a bad dj, well at times yes he is terrible, but he used to be one of the best in the world years ago, and now he is nowhere close to what he was. At least JR can tear anyone a new asshole when he wants to, but thats a whole other issue, you're lucky if you ever get to hear him rip it these days.People need to get out and listen to other djs from around the world. Has nothing to do with getting brainwashed.......more to have a local NY as one of your fav's. Not saying JP is my fav. but he still has his touch and is up there for me. He tore EXIT down on NYE and yes Iv'e been going since the party started in 97. Also ever think that some of these JP fans listen to others out there like Low End, Timo, Deep Dish, Coxy, DT, Morillo, Calderone and on and on. Not everyone who likes JP isolates themselves to only his parties...........
dkny8
JP is a very big local talent, but that's about it. Like Melnick said, he used to be a great DJ, and I used to be there week in and week out. But now the guy loops records, plays the same friggin tracks all the time (e.g., In Your Eyes is tiredddddd), his mixing is suspect at times and his productions with one or two exceptions aren't all that great. Yes Going Through It is garbage, the track sounds like a hurricane hitting a pots and pans warehouse. To whoever is going to the WMC to see Peters I hope you're kidding. I saw Peters at the WMC and I hoped for the best and got one of the worst performances of the conference. The big slap in the face was the club charging $50 a head, for that price i could have seen three world class DJs in one venue.Happy Birthday JP, you owe me $50. Never seen JP outside of SF but have never heard only bad things about his performances outside of there (w/ the exception of NYE). I heard from many people that WMCwas his worst performance ever, when it reality it should be one of his best. Good luck if you are going to listen to him anywhere anytime soon, you may be very well upset by how much you spent to hear him. In the past 2 years I can't count the # of times i left SF pissed off can't believing that I wasted my $$ to hear the 3 songs played in3 2 and a half hours. If it wasn't for Cleveland I was ready to launch fruit from the 3rd floor right into the booth.

Last year during wmc, the ac/ventilation in the club broke and it got shut down, no-one could even bare to be in the place let alone DJ, it was really bad, but not JP's fault!!!! cesarleo
Well if he had half a brain he'd step up his game now to show the world what he's all about. The reviews since he lost his SF spot have been very positive for the most part. I understand the complaints and I have had bad experiences myself...........but I have a gut feeling he's trying to prove something...........and he certainly has something to prove if he wants to keep his fans now that SF is done. Put it to you this way when your djing for like 20 hrs bringing a song back to the begining and playing it for like 4o mins is like playing a song for 10 mins when your djing 4 hours so think of it that way.Everytime u bring it back it just doubles the energy when u drop it cause ppl r just waiitng for it.As 4 junior i listned to his radio show and it put me to sleep his mixes r too drawn out just no energy. cq29
i use to go to roseland back in the day for raves. the sound system was sick, but the place was just one big open room and if it hasn't changed, it's not a great club venue. there's nowhere to chill and hide except the basement, which is hot as shit and the coat check was a mess. JP really needs a home soon and fuck this crappy venue shit.plus, i guarantee NYPD will be all over the place. it's in the heart of midtown, next to B'WAY. Yes Jr ha great shows and he has terrible shows that i hear when i am driving that make me want to drive off the GWB. But to say that playing a track to its break, stopping it and starting from the beginning again 10-20 times definitley does not double the energy, in fact, it tires the track out. Maybe kids these days just like it that way, i dunno, but it sounds stupid to me. You must be on some good shit to be enjoying that. As for playing 20 hours, yes you have to work tracks, but 40 minutes - 90 minutes isnt working a track, its just wasting time, there are many djs that play marathon sets who don't play tracks for 40 mins+. Teknojunkee
When did you people hear songs for 60-90 minutes THIS I WANT TO KNOW..DATE ETC. Ive heard songs for 20 miins break into another then go back for another 10...but those are the songs that US in SF used to go crazy for. HES PLAYING THE CROWD...if we didnt enjoy the track for the first 20 mins you think hes gonna bring it back?U guys are TOO opinionated, biased, blind, and dis-respectful. 7 years in that place..YES..he WAS doing something RIGHT.I dont pay attention to the bashing i skim through it but when i say 90 minutes you people have no idea what you are talking about and you stood the 90 mins to hear it i guess.Tek

Teknojunkee
See..but thats you. Listen..im not a hater on anyone.I like those 30 min mixes...he kills the song (in a good way). Its not like hes playing the song again normal. Effects, making his own buildups, using a bass from another song, throwing in an accapella over it.Everyone likes diff things...we loved JP at SF. We can all argue til we are blue in the nuts about this lol. This topic was killed a long time ago. People keep bringing it up because they have nothing better to do with their time. GET JOBS! If you wanna argue go pick a fight at a bar.DKNY...i respect your opinion cause you seem to tell it how it is (in your eyes), not exaggerating, and to the point. I think we are all old enough here to not have to go through this everytime a DJ's name is brought up.Just like the JP heads hate on Junior. That shows immaturity. I dont like the way he has been lately. I used to love Juniors music, mixing, and parties. Thats me. I dont hate on him. What the hell good is it to bitch all the time. Its not like its gonna change anything.Tek

Around 4/20/2001 that stupid nirvana song that he played out and ruined. Went to the basement, back and forth, hoping for a new song only to hear it for an hour and a half. NOT an exaggeration, 'm not gonna sit here and make stuff up just to make myself look like i wasted $40, I really dont have the time or patience so sit around and make up stories. Same year towards the end of August, same exact thing, only he played it for 45 minutes. Same songMy birthday in November 2001, Cassius - The Sound of Violence played it for almost an hour, played something else, then played it for another 20. There were a few more times after this but in all reality does it really matter when it happened? It happened, thats the point.Yes your're right, I actually sat down and stayed and listened to him do this many times, sometiems i would even take a nap while he was doing this, and that was a very stupid mistake, but it did open my eyes and realize that JP was no longer any good. & years there, he mustve been doing something right someone said, I say he mustve been doing something wrong for the past 2 because he has no home right now. magyarcica
You can debate back and forth about which song and how long.... all I can say is JPs parties ROCK. The vibe is great and people cant stop dancing... so whether he is technically good or not, people like him and I think that is what counts in the end.As for other DJs, I've promoted some of the best parties with top DJs... Lawler, Tiesto, PVD, Oakenfold, Picotto, Saeed & Palash, Deep Dish... etc, etc. I've heard them all and I like some of them.... but I also like JP... I have fun with his music which I cant always say with all other DJs... besides, I have seen some of the best spin really badly at times, so it happens to all of them. BTW, Roseland is a RUMOR... there is not truth to it. There are no news re. JPs party yet.
