bettyboop79
JP is a little boring. When I used to go to Sound Factory, from the moment I walked in he would be spinning a song and an hour later it was the same friggin song. Most of his music has what appears to be a build-up and the song would climax and you're there dancing getting all excited cuz the song seems like it's going to go nuts and bleh, goes right back to the beginning to a basic techno beat that has been blaring in your ears for the past two hours. I know this will piss off a lot of JP fans, and maybe I'm wrong cuz he might have changed his style but anytime I went to SF , JP's songs were so long and uneventful that it made me wanna
luztidara
I am so sorry for hurting you jp fans and your feelings. I just figured these 2 great dj's would turn spirit into the hottest spot in NYC. I mean crobar only has roger sanchez on saturday you know? Tall paul at avalon? Fuck these clubs. Devito and jp all the way.
urbanstylz14o
I'd go see J.P. over Louie Devito! More than likely, I'd just go to another club on a weekend now.
lucky13
It's too bad that Spirit does not bring in quality talent on a consistent basis. Sure they've had guys like Satoshi Tomiie, Hector Romero, and PVD; but when they also have shit like a Jessica Simpson CD release party and Louie DeVito, they kinda lose some of their credibility as a place where people can go to hear good music. That's kinda unfortunate, b/c the venue itself is pretty nice. If Spirit had the kind of DJ lineup that Avalon has had lately, it would be one of the best clubs in the city. Oh well. At least I know where NOT to go this weekend.

deeperndeeper
You cannot compare Louie to Jonathan.....Louie will rip him apart anyday, his skills still amaze me to this day, he is truly a pioneer of the legendary New York Dance Music scene
luztidara
Wow deepener how could you say that? I mean jp does rock out some underground ktu shit also? And plus it doesn't get anymore underground than the guido bop.Spirit is totally radimus to the maximus.

luztidara
yea SPIRIT is pretty damn sik...Love the set up...Love the crowd...Love JP..Love the girls...This saturday should be good...Yeah copa. The truth is people don't get why 2 great dj's can't play in the same place. I mean friday and saturday are different days anyway. The room can be shared. And we all love jp so much why not go and hear some great tunes. Like Sunshine etc... And I am sure jp get's a great crowd. Muscular men with spikey hair. That's where the true underground music lover is. Learn people learn. Spirit baby spirit!

acuman
...but not a surprise that during the summer slowdown, as the crowds head to the Hamptons and the Shore, that a really great club, with an amazing history has to stoop to trying to get the bridge+tunnel crowds back a bit with guido djs and lowering the age to 18. I guess Crobar will take over the mantle of bringing in quality DJs...Avalon does a good job DJ-wise, but a lot of people are not fans of the layout or the sound of the club and the young teeny-bopper crowd hurts it also.So disappointed. It'll be difficult to recover Friday nights if they keep this up for more than a few weeks.
luztidara
OK so I am being sarcastic people. I agree with acuman alot but crobar has it's faults also. They have horrid people criticizing you at the door like you are an animal or something. If spirit wants to try to pass this crap on us they better just call Mrs. B at webster hall and just have her manage the place. She will get the tourists there better and hopefully that horrid smell of webster hall can come over and make spirit official. Commercialism Rules!
