today the number is 44,000... it's just so unreal. i feel terrible for them. not getting toooo political, but pres. bush is only giving 15 mil? wtf? i know we don't have much to give because he's spending it on the "war for lower gas prices"...come now. whats even worse is that many of the people that survived may die from bad water and diseases.
hmmm...our 15 millions vs. European Union(over 20 countries) giving 4 million?? give it a rest..

we will give as much as we can

Phuket

No borders

And almost exactly a year ago, a 6.3 quake devastated the Iranian city of Bam, killing more than 50,000.

China, and indeed Asia as a whole, has had its fair share of natural disasters over the centuries.

Iranian Red Crescent volunteers carry earthquake victims bodies to a mass grave in Bam, in 2003

Whole communities are left devastated by natural disasters

Shanxi and Henan provinces lost more than 800,000 people when they were hit, in 1556, by one of the worst earthquakes in history.

This was taken straight from BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4128509.stm) and I would like to know how you get ALMOST EXACTLY? It is either exactly, or almost. Not both.

Taken from CNN.com:

"Responding to the disaster, the U.S. Agency for International Development added $20 million to the already promised $15 million."

Part of an email I got from the CEO of my company:

"In addition to $25 million in product donations and logistical support, today we announced that Pfizer will be donating a total of $10 million to local and international relief organizations operating in the region."

They're also matching employee contributions 1 for 1.

Go Pfizer!!! :bounce:
