lalate
Tao - THE place to be this fall in Vegas.
lalate
Thursday, September 22.Preparty.Pool Bar at Ballys.Good times. Pool itself is aahhh but the Pool Bar was fun. Great "aim to please staff". Didnt want a Sauza margarita (cuz of the Sausa) .. opted for a Mai Tai (sp) which rarely do but the staff make a really incredible drink and tossed a free shot to us and some others at the bar. Kicked it there for a while - very nice.Tao(The complete review of Tao will come under a diff thread). 4 hour Open Bar and passed free food and deserts. Bar --- The signature drink - Tao-tini. It sounds sort of gey but its super strong, get it in a highball. Passed champagne was great ... washington apple (made to order) perfect. Bartenders - mine looked like someone out of central casting. A 10+ with a 12+ personality ... who also aimed to please, offered to chill the shot of patron I wanted it or not. The also carry my favorite bottle water - arguably the best on the market, retails about $4/bottle.The staff - so incredible, asking when you will be back in town, finding you on the floor and bringing you back more of a particular food (believe it was a wrapped tuna roll) because they knew you liked it. Just when you thought you knew most of the hosts, other hosts would find you and say hello too. Cocktail waitresses, even the guy on the balcony who has the job to swap the glass for plastic - everyone was A+ in service and just cool people.Food - good. Ate too much of it lol. Deserts - rich and delicious.La BeteArguably the worst nightclub we have experienced in 3 years, a bashion of outrageously rude staff coupled with a poorly designed venue. a) Time to get served. It took us 30 minutes twice, and for our friends over 30 minutes. Service. As rude as they come. My friend waited so long to get a drink that when he finally got served he asked for mulitple drinks from which he got a smart ass remark from the female bartender that he couldnt handle it.c) Music. Decent hiphop played ridiculous loud, so loud that it took me the rest of the night to get my voice back from talking loud enough to be heard.d) Floorplan. Poorly design, bad floorplan, lacking any originality. If you arent dancing on the pathetically small dancefloor or standing on the narrow walkway under the waterfall you basically have no place to sit and sometimes no place to stand. Centrifugeclosed! TeatroA great staff, superb drinks, best priced drinks for an afterhours spot, incredible music, and great performances on stage.
nvlashi
This is my first trip to Vegas in 4 years and this post has been most useful. Thank you very much for taking the time to compile it. A couple of questions, in your posts I notice that you have some comments like "line bypass with ******" . What exactly is that? Also, what can be done to not wait in line with the rest of the herd. I live in Boston and have gotten to know most of the club managers so I've been kind of spoiled. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll be arriving Thurs. Sept. 29 and staying through Monday. I'd love to make some new friends who can show us around.See you all real soon.Regards,Nisi from Boston
mrvip
That's what we, as VIP hosts, do for you. You would pay us, and we make sure that you don't have to stand in line with the rest of the people. In Las Vegas, unless you know someone at the club you're going to end up paying someone off like a VIP host or the bouncer.
lulu518
Finally recovered from last weekend in Vegas. Here's my review of the latest.FridayTao - Some of the most friendly door staff I have met, ever. A beautiful space, all the staff is de-gorgeous. Each bartender/bouncer that walked by was more beautiful than the next. Or is it just guys in suits that get me, who knows? Great tunes playing, plenty of dancing going on. The layout of the uptairs tables was a bit troubling since it seemed cramped. The shag rugs are super cute, but I give them another two weeks before they are gone!La Bete - Door staff was once again super friendly. Did not see much of the space, was outside mainly. Had a great time out there, room to dance, quieter for a chat, and a waitress always ready with another drink. SaturdayAquanox - dinner in the Venetian Restaurant Row, a bit disappointed with the service. Waiting 30 min for a reservation is not good. Food though was excellent, had duck and poached pear for dessert. I would go back there just for the pear!Pure - was very nervous about Pure!! Everyone hyped it up so much, and that line! Ick! Couldn't even imagine why people would stand in a line that long, don't remember Light or Rain ever having a line - airport style - wrapping across the casino floor like that. As we all know, its who you know and who knows you that gets you in, unfortunetly some co-workers of mine went against my advice and bought line passes, that got them nowhere!! Without my connection they would be another cow in the herd! Pure space is also very beautiful, clean lines, lots of rooms, but way too crowded and the crowd itself was not the likes of which I hang. Crowd at Tao was much better. A little disappointed but you know, at least I was there!Drais - nothing like this semi-trashy spot at 6 in the morning. It's still a fun place to go when your BAL has surpassed its point several times. All together a lovely weekend accented by the pools at Hard Rock and Mirage, sad Rehab was over, but still a party. And the kicker? White Sox to the series baby!!

edlosangeles
The Mirage is going through major changes, casino wide. The buffet, which was one of my fav's, has been totally torn down and replaced by a very nice & up to date buffet! Great job. The candy in Mirage was OK. The were some single groups walking around on Sunday night, male & female. Sunday is more crowded then Mon or Tues. They almost have JET finished. Its Mirage's new club, it's managed by the peep's that do Light. JET will be located right next to the alternate valet on the north side of the casino. (the less crowded one)I ate @ Mikado, a classic Japanese restaurant inside the Mirage.I eat sushi & Japanese food all the time and this place was OK at best. I paid $110 for 2 people.I give it a 5 1/2 on a 10 scale. I'll review where I went clubbin at in the next writting.. gotta bail now!

edlosangeles
I'll review where I went clubbin at in the next writting.. gotta bail now!Nov. 20 & 21Sun - Didn't make it out. Got tore up from the floor up @ the Mirage and didn't end up leaving.Mon - Put my name on the CP guestlist @ the Foundation Room. Worked like a charm! Thanks CP! However, cover was $20, m or f.Got there around 11:30. Short line and short VIP line, about 12-15 people.Inside in < 10 min!Music - 3 rooms: HipHop, house, & 80's/Rock. House and HipHop were up to Vegas par (up-beat N happenin... great music in 2 rooms, fire the DJ in the 80's room, I was looking for some DM or Smiths). 80's room was playing stuff I never heard. The room was EMPTY until there was no where else to go in the club. Music was played a great level to carry conversation & party!Drinks - Didn't see servers and the bartenders did a great job. Every time I walked up to the bar to order Goose & Cran, there was a short wait. When this small club got packed it did get difficult to get to the bar. Paid $8 or $9 per.Atmosphere - Older crowd then what I expected, which is OK by me. Age was 25 - 50+. Very diverse crowd. All colors of the rainbow. All flavors in the candy store. You know what I mean. A mellow crowd. No one running around the club spilling drinks on you here. I would consider this more of lounge then a club. I mean there is really no dance floor in the house room and the HipHop room is as big as my bedroom! Basically, the club was small. Don't believe me just head to the HipHop room. I swear it was 30ft x 40 ft. And half of it was VIP & roped off. The decor in this spot was very cool. Dark and red inside. There seems to be VIP areas spread out throughout the club and very secret. George Bush could have been there that night and no one know it! My 50+ year old eye doctor told me to come here and now I know why...View - One of the best views of the strip I have ever seen. And I have been to the top of the tower @ Paris. 2 large connected patio areas let you enjoy the view. Basically, your out here to check out the view or smoke. No dancing.Candy - Ok, I would give it a 6. Again, with an older then normal crowd. You ain't gonna find that 21 year old chick in here ready to flash someone...Overall an OK spot to hang out, enjoy the view, meet up with some friends, and have $9 drinks! Will I be back... probably not, we'll see. Not my type of party crowd. On the way to and from F.R., I got to check out RumJungle. This is where I should have gone. Line was long at 11:30 & @ 2:00 AM! Club was packed, thanks to the glass walls, and was jumpin'! (Mental note)Thanks,EdLosAngeles
