Last Chance at LaBete

I heard La Bete was a failure from the jump. A lot of the guys I know from Rum Jungle and Mix literally RAN back to their jobs after working at La Bete for a week. That seems to be the vibe for The Wynn as a whole...and I'm not sure why. It was supposed to be the "hotel of all hotels" in Vegas.

There is an old saying in business. Dont start wrong. Start right.

Wynn Las Vegas is awesome, it is just different than the other big places in town, which is why a lot of people don't know what to make of it. It seems a lot smaller, and is much less hectic, than a lot of the other places, which throws people off. I've stayed there though, and IMO it's nicer than every other big hotel in town not named Bellagio. I would say it's on par with Bellagio as far as amenities, although it is not nearly as "in your face" as Bellagio is. It does improve on Bellagio in several areas though. Some people I know still prefer Bellagio, but I think Wynn is tops. Think of it as the world's largest Ritz Carlton.

Wynn Las Vegas is awesome.

agreed. I especially luv the side entrance - reminds me sort of the Beverly Hills Hotel format/entrance --- relaxing soothing yet stunning ... and having an a/c waiting area with sofa(s) for you while you wait for your car on the side entrance - thats class.

Waiting 45 minutes for your car to come in the middle of a Monday afternoon in August tells me they are short on valet power. ;-)

The Wynn is awesome save for all the cigar smoke stinking up the casino. After an hour in there I'm in need of oxygen.

I was told Steve Wynn himself set up a sting last weekend and fired all the hosts and security for Lure and La Bete. They were told "not to take tips" anymore...and then when the sting was set up they were handcuffed and led out. Wynn was even threatening some people with charging them with "robbery" for accepting tips. I hope the word gets out on this, and nobody decides to work for his clubs again.

That being said, I think it was a power play to justify closing La Bete and opening with all of Victor Drai's people.

The only thing I don't understand is that all these employees worked directly for Wynn, and not thru an independant company.
