Big names at Rehab this summer?

As if Rehab weren't crowded and nutty enough. :)

Just learned that DJ Dan is confirmed for June 4th and that Rehab is trying to find a workable slot with Fatboy Slim... on top of the rumor that Tiesto is playing Rehab on Mem Day weekend, sure sounds like they're trying to bring in the big talent this summer.

Anyone hearing of other possible bookings?

I'm stunned that the promoters at Rehab are willing to pay the booking fees to book DJs like Tiesto and maybe Fatboy Slim. Mr. Cook costs a fortune.

Was Stefani compd last summer?

If so, I was wondering if she could perform, preferably in private, for me this summer too

I seem to recall that Gwen Stefani's performance at the HR pool was on a weekday. Could be that I'm thinking of a different occasion.

In any event, it's killing me that I'm going to be stuck out near Sam Boyd Stadium playing soccer in hundred-degree heat while Tiesto is spinning at Rehab.

i imagine that if Late Nite Empire booked Tiesto for that Sunday nite, somehow the cost may not be as high as usual if he plays earlier that day for Rehab. Kinda like a bulk discount :)

Just speculation on my part for that...

Well I must say to have Tiesto would be pretty crazy...To book him is right around 38k....But they will make that easily on memorial day...Easily...In regards to Empire booking that...I don't know haven't heard of it...But if they were to do that it would definitely have to be in a package deal. However I will say this if these two venues pull this one off I will be really surprised...The past 2 years Tiesto has had an exclusive deal with Godskitchen and Ice...and he was only allowed to play there while in Vegas...I know cause wanted him to spin for my birthday...And in regards to Fatboy...those booking fees are nothing compared to the money they will bring...I would say max Fatboy is maybe 15k...and that is max.....But you got to think of how many people they can pull into that pool....How many cabanas they have for sale...How much they will pull in on drinks at the bars...and last but certainly not least the amount of gaming revenue they will receive...from all the walk in traffic....Hell...they are going to get some serious action from myself.....lololol...

All of that is true, but the reason I am surprised is that Rehab would fill up regardless, so it is nice to see them have the balls to spend the money on booking Tiesto when they don't need him, or any other big name DJ, to pull in a crowd.

Jet is stepping up in May as well, by booking Josh Wink and Nick Fanciulli. Jet doesn't have to book those guys to pull in a crowd, so it is nice to see them do so. Are promoters in this town finally growing some balls, and realizing there is life beyond hip hop? One can only hope.

When you will have a line down the block anyway, booking big name DJs gets you "street cred", or in the sense of the electronic music scene, notoriety. Jet is a great venue; hopefully the DJs they have booked to come in and play will like it as well, and word will get out of another great venue in Vegas for international DJs to play at. Hopefully Jet's crowd will be receptive to what those guys bring to the decks.

Well...the whole thing with 95% of the Clubs in Vegas are "if it ain't broke...dont fix it.." and hip hop is not broke....Me personally I love music...I can dance to hip-hop, house, trance...anything as long as I am feeling it....Most people aren't like that...And really most people go out to hook up...and I am sorry...your probably not going to get some action from somebody that is rolling...You want that whole bump and grind thing to be going on so you can hook up.....Thats why afterhours is the kind of music we like...its something that is going to keep the party going...and you can just dance and have a good time...if you wanted to hook up you wouldn't be at afterhours...And you are so right about these Venues that don't need to book the expensive entertainment...but like you said it gives them credibility....Will be interesting to see who is booked for Nirvana this year...And Tiesto for Empire so far is a go...According to VegasRey...Its going to be the In Search of Sunrise Tour...which completely surprises me....He has to be really putting together a package deal...because Empire is not that big....I would say max they can fit is like 1800 people...so with a booking fee of 38k...but if its a package deal...it makes sense...

Well, let's say Empire Ballroom does 1,500 covers the night Tiesto is there. They'll fill up, but like you said, the club is not very big. They'll be getting at least $35 a head, so $35 x 1,500 = $52,500. Booking fee covered right there. Plus, Empire will sell all of their tables, meaning the tables in the main room, the tables in the side room, and the tables on the patio. That's many thousands in additional revenue right there, on top of what the bars will pull in from the non table buying public, which will also be well into the thousands. Even with Tiesto's booking fee, plus productions costs, staff, wholesale costs for all of the alcohol and addiitional bar-related items, they're good to go I think. Also, I am pretty confident in saying that my guess as to the cover charge that night is plenty low. They'll be able to get $40+ at the door for sure.

No you are completely right...but Memorial Day Weekend...these clubs need to be making 50 to 100k a night....and I guarantee Tiesto will be more like 75+...They are not in it to make 20k...or 30k a night they do that on an average night...

No buddy!! Tickets to Empire will be in the 75 dollar plus range....ICE 2 years ago his tickets were 100 dollars on NYE...I haven't paid for a Tiesto party in a long time...Seen him at Mansion in Miami....a week or so ago...and the Concert in LA...VIP tickets were 200 but I knew the promoters...But with Empire because of the size of their club they are definitely going to need to get at least 75...i would not be surprised to see 100 bux at the door....They have to make as much money as they can for cover...Its Tiesto...and its a small club...

This has very little to do with street credibility, balls, or hip-hop. It has to do with having the perfect excuse to charge big dollars at the door and make some serious profit. I know OPM will be charging about $100 to $150 admission (and will have no problem at all filling the place times 3) that whole weekend and it will be without a celebrity dj. I can see door prices approaching $150 to $200 with a big act. $200 times 1000 heads is $200,000 which justifies a $75,000 act, even if the place would have sold $125 times 1000 without an act.

VG - remember last year it was $150 at the door for the Tiesto/Deep Dish bill at Ice? Considering its Memorial Day weekend - i can easily see a $50 presale price and $75-100 at the door

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. In that case though, you're talking about two big booking fees to cover. The costs with only one of those acts booked would have of course been considerably less.

At Ice last year for that party, they tried to charge us $50 cover each, when we had a table...lmao

Tiesto is not going to be charging 75k.

This I know.

I'm fairly confident a package deal is being worked out. But he has not finalized plans to play REHAB.

I thought the GVR Pool Party was discontinued due to Promoter In-Fighting.

I'm hearing "thru the grapevine" that the all new Club Cherry of the Red Rock Hotel and Casino is going to have ridiculous pool parties this summer. Being where it's located off the strip---I think they are going to have to spend some money on luring DJ's and in marketing costs.

Although I haven't seen the layout of the club/pool/bar, I hear it's sick.

Anybody with any more info about it?

With regards to booking fees, the big thing to consider is how much in demand the artist will be on the given date. Tiesto can charge $100-$250 for NYE because that's a date that the entire world celebrates. MDW is pretty much a USA thing, then throw in that even on MDW a Sunday night is not going to be as high a demand as a Saturday... well, prices change and I'd be surprised if Tiesto is getting his top rate for Empire and/or Rehab.

One of the other reasons I say that is that acts like Tiesto often play at clubs in cities with a lower profile of nightlife and thus charge much less for cover and tickets. For example, when Tiesto played at Vinyl in Denver last fall, the cost was only $20 per head, and for a joint notably smaller than Empire.

In my experience the booking acts like Tiesto and Fatboy for places like Empire and Rehab is motivated more by the benefits of ongoing marketing/PR than it is by pure profit. Having Tiesto just one Sunday afternoon at Rehab will echo through everyone's mind all summer... and thus people will be less hesitant to pay $30 cover (or better yet, book a room there) for a day when one of the local residents is spinning. That is where the profit is made.

All that said, I definitely agree that regardless of motivation and cost, it's great to see Empire and Rehab stretching to bring in the biggest names they can... and as I posted elsewhere, it's also great that on other weekends they continue to show love for the up-and-comers like Mazzola and Faarshed.
