I want to rent a car in South Beach and drive it to key west and drop it off in key west. Do I have to go to the airport in miami and pick up and then drop off in Key west airport, or can i rent somewhere in South Beach and drop off in key west? anyone know a good rental place? i want to rent a convertible.

Definitely take a xanax. i always do- not to ease tension, that's not an issue for me...i just like to fall asleep and wake up at my destination. I feel like my atoms were telported like in Star Trek. (whatever the term was) A couple weeks ago I flew to Hawaii, and took a xanax....I boarded, fell right asleep, and woke up 10 hours later in paradise. No joke, I slept the entire, entire, entire way. It was amazing. I woke up perky and deboarded- put on shorts in the bathroom and hailed a taxi. Anyone who endures long flights is a moron, in my opinion. anyway, northwest is a budget airline, so not only will it be kinda uncomfortable, but it will also be filled with trashy people, kids and crying babies. Even more reason to drink a few glasses of wine, then right before take off and take a xanax. Tell your doc you fly a lot for work and have sleeping problems, he/she will prescribe it. In my opinion, Continental or Delta or American are usually the best bet...in that order. Continental especially....

PS, how is the weather at the end of may? I came down in the middle of last June and it was splendid. quite hot, but i love that.

I mean, where does one find discount coupons? I'd love to find something! Im traveling with someone else, so we'll be splitting everything. The Nash Hotel looks nice too...I think I'll decide between the both of them.

@ $160 a night? It looks like it is actually one of the only hotels on the rattletrap sandbar that's remotely worth that much, no?

Im going to come to to Miami for two nights and do key west for 3 nites....seems better to break it up...and most people say key west for 5 nites is mucho. fly to miami, drive to key west then fly back from key west to new york. im looking into hotels in miami now... May 24th and 25th in miami, 26rg-29 key west. sounds good to me 8)

not looking to drink tons...but im sure we can find some things to do. im looking for places to stay now. i didnt realize it was memorial day weekend....that is screwing things up!

so what's the deal here? I am heading down at the end of May. From out last discussion, everyone said the beach there sucks. that's disappointing :-[ There really are no cool beaches to find on the key? No one lays out on the beach? Do people just sit by the pool in their hotels? is 5 days too long to spend there? what do people really do when they are there? I'd probably stay with my bf at some sort of guesthouse, though I dont want to be somewhere where everyone is geared towards sex. When I go on vacation to somewhere tropical, the beach is usually at the forefront of my activities...this is why I am concerned. What do you guys think? Is key west great, and if so, why?

It was fun, but definitely not as good as last year...but Spirit was nice and the place was lit up and the music wasnt very loud so it was a nice atmosphere within a club that's usually dark and loud.

I know. the music was so much better than possibly anything ive ever listened to. At $150 per ticket at the door, I also think there is pressure on the DJ to give an epic performance. anyway, that party was nuts, some of the sex (especially some of those rooms off to the side) were appalling, but to each his own, i guess. The theme is hedonism and letting your repressed urges out...I didnt find that part to be hot or arousing, but the music and the dancefloor were where I felt sublime!

I arrived home at 5:30pm tonite from one of the best nights (possibly even the best) of music I've ever experienced in NYC. VIctor Calderone was spinning...and the man is simply amazing...ive never ever had such a magical time on a dancefloor!!! (The vibe and spirit within the place was like nothing ive ever seen)...his music was very tribal and dark yet sexy and uplifting--- I never stay out late these days, but this night was so exceptional I went all out and lasted til I felt lke i was going to drop. It felt so nice to be in NYC having an epic night of music and vibe. I'll report more tomorrow, i just woke up for an hour to eat some chinese food. going back to bed now!

It really hit me when I was on vacation this past week. NYC nightlife, no matter how annoying it can be with B & T kids, drama, etc, it still dominates anything else we can find in the majority of this country. I was in Hawaii traveling, and I was home in bed by 11pm or midnight each night....I tried once to enjoy the nightlife, which sadly was dominated by top 40 and terrible hip hop....boys with plad shirts tucked into dockers with DSW brand loafers....(all thinking it was mack-daddy attire)....fat girls with their bellies and tits hanging out....oh my god I just cannot describe it. It was really, really bad, guys...the courting that went on between men and women in those places was heinous... I got home yesterday afternoon and got together with some friends last night for a night on the town here in chelsea fora bit then the east village. It was incredibly refreshing and enjoyable. Thank god for New York, trust me, thank god, because the rest of this country (with few exceptions) is fucking over-the-top cheese!!!!!
