  2. yeah that was a great time! I love Lawlers dark drums and thoroughlyenjoyed my time there, althoughI was up ad down from spider-- il report more later---
  3. I do declare, that is correct. It is fine fare Mexican Cuisine. here is a link to the menu. the graphics are a bit juvenile but dont let that fool you. http://www.modernmexican.com/pampano/dinner.htm Here is what we ate: Tacos de Langosta, Quesadillas de pescado, Empanadas de Camaron, ensalada de langosta, albondigas de mariscos. FKING amazing. cross reference with the menu and see all the ecclectic ingredients. I hear the swordfish is spectacular as well. I also read about the Caverna in TONY last week. (PS, dont you love the "whatsupwiththat" section where they evaluate strange things around the city? I do... and I write to them all the time with ideas but they never publish them.)
  4. I went to "Pompano" on 48th b/t 2d and 3rd last night for dinner with my brother... since this is a nightlife forum I insist that you guys try this place at some point----hands down one of the top 3 places Ive eaten in the world...I;ve dined on almost every continent except Antarctica and this place was superb, and not too pricey. Â One word, amazing. Â Have a hot date, this place will knock him/her off their feet-- ever been? Â New Yorker rated it in the top 5 restaurants here in nyc. Â I also want to check out "La Caverna"---a new installment in the LES---supposed to be like spelunking underground and eating in a huge cave. Â I love our city so much for its neverending ridiculousness... PS, if you ever have a date and are unsure if it is going to go anywhere :-/ but still want to impress without spending alot, go to L'Express on park Ave South near Sushi Samba---it has a very romantic, sexy atmosphere and it really reasonable.
  5. NO, you're just a pop-queen fairy
  6. ohhh I get it now. Originally I thought Lawler and BB B were spinning back to back tonite. disappointing.
  7. Awesome Charles...I cant wait. congrats, this is great news
  8. Charles are you sure BB Bill is spinning as well?? I dont see any press on that anywhere. I hope he is...
  9. Im in NYC, I live here but come down to FL in the winter often as it get all too cold for me here and I enjoy keeping a consistent tan and i love to tomar some sol... the gatecrasher set is from 11-16-2002. search under Tiesto and gatecrasher and NEC. dont download the one from a few days ago. This gatecrasher from Nov 30th 2003 was a horrible failure and the sets from pvd and tiesto are garbage.
  10. you and I are similar in some respects. Â our tastes specifically. Â you are so lucky to have experienced that July 4th set. I've listened to it hundred of times since i downloaded it and it is honestly one of my favorite sets he's ever ever performed....up there with his Dutch Dimension 9 hr set.. If you dont have his Gatecrasher set from November last year, get it, it is completely ridiculous and will make you faint. I did space after ultra last year....my god that was an amazing evening---Got to ultra at around 7pm and went to space after....deep dish was great but Danny Howells took the throne on the terrace! Â we danced well past noon and my friends missed their flights home. Â
  11. nicer to meet you. 8) I see you like Tiesto in your avatar---he is one of my favs as well...always has been---did you ever get to see my interview with him here on CJ? It was really a lot of fun to do, plus the man is extremely cool in person as well....I got to see him in ibiza this summer performing with PVD.....pure blissssss
  12. good question! My name is Evan, and my nickname is Ev. Also, I live in the East Village in manhattan, so the acronym has a dual meaning. 8)
  13. jeje that was funny charles   I'm cool
  14. try this- Â http://www.wowest.cc/ very good resource for Nick Warren and wow aficionados! Â enjoy. 8) here is the location for dates: http://www.wowest.cc/forum/viewtopic.php?t=252 No Miami or nyc though....not anytime soon... although March is not listed and im sure they will be visiting the american riviera for the conference...i mean...come on...
  15. rcrespo---do you enjoy that cosmos mix?
  16. LES begins below Houston. Which means that I am NOT a lower east side junkie, but an East Village Junkie...as the LES does begin below Houston. When I realized this it was a long time after I created this name...about a year ago I created this name, a bit after I moved into NYC. I considered changing my name to EVjunkie...since I do in fact live in the east village and Ev is also my nickname. SO I just changed it...Ive been meaning to do that! So much better.
  17. the East Village crackheads concur too!....JP is the bomb! Â he gives them something fun to do when they cant fall asleep til 5pm the next night. Â
  18. IMO, level is a dump I hope they do some renovations before reopening under new management.
  19. surely he will be at wmc and surely i will not miss him there either. btw, nick ended his amazin set here in nyc with a utterly terrific mix of coldplay's clocks...it had claps in it throughout.... here was the beat: ------------------- clap clap clap clap clap clap ---------------- anyone recognize. quite good.
  20. Charles did you get their autograph or bring a vinyl for them to sign? ;D OK im feelin pretty healthy now too and will most likely come by===will know more definitively thurs. 8)
  21. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago perform in NYC at limelight....his set was unbelievable and if he is in town you must make sure you are there. I think it might be at his best ever! I'm sure he would rip 34 a new one if he performed there
  22. great post charles, and if we can get the CJ miami posters involved I think the rhetoric will augment even further. First of all, what I love about the Cooljunkie ny and miami forums is that intelligent, introspective looks into dance music are possible without all the infantile bullshit or childish tantrums that occur regularly on most other forums inundated with teenagers. Good stuff. Anyway, I think that my opinion here wont be as educated as the opinions of you, joey, saleen, etc. You guys have been involved in the scene longer than I have. not that Im a newbie, but I defintitely have a bit of a delayed adolescence in the scene and Im still learning a lot on the fly...which involves going out to tons of events, doing tons of research, and doing a lot of listening to what people say and what people post on forums, etc. Writing articles for CJ also helps alot as it gets me to really research and pay acute attention to details, etc. What I lack in education I advance in emotion. I know what makes me feel good when im out, what sounds penetrate---after experiencing a buffet of DJS and differnet genres of music---from the clubs and lounges of NYC and abroad to the intense week 3 yrs and running of my attendance at the WMC--- I cna definitely say that my interests and tastes cross genres-----some of my sentiments mirror what you stated above, Charles. eg: I was a dancing machine at Ferry, pumpin my fist and really enjoying the faggy trance---i mean, my eyes lit up several times throughout the evening as I trainspotted some of my favorite tracks from the past and present---see my review on the CJ ny site (not a shameless plug, for sake of time im letting you use it as a reference should you want more insight into my ferry exp) However, I also was a machine at Nick Warrens event the week before, where I recognized only a few tracks but I felt it just as much if not more than PVD the week before, and Ferry the week after. Also, as you all know, iM a big Tiesto fan--and I loved his performance last year at Space (once the crowd thinned out a bit, god it was too crowded at first)---and when Tiesto was done I was the first person on the terrace (exaggerating for effect there) dancing with my friends to the beats of Mauro Picotto. As for breaks, Im in the same boat as Joey...a couple of tracks are fun (like when PVD dropped a few on the 14th...I loved it!) but thereafter it gets a bit shitty for me. So yes , I think most people do enjoy elements of all the genres you specified here---and we all have out sie of the spectrum that we prefer---but broad horizons are a great thing to have...mine arent extremely broad, but broad enough to give something a chance and not be a bitch if a DJ begins to stray from their normal stuff--- Im definitely eager to hear you spin, especially if you mix it up like this----it keeps things fresh and I think Id really enjoy it. Just no JP, ok?
  23. Actually, here in Nyc (and other cities as well) there is an amazing resource, more like a clearinghouse of "stuff": that people post to barter or sell. IN NYC, everyone uses craigslist.org when they want to shop around for good stuff but dont want to pay new retail. Will you look at this site and (in the keyword box you can type in digital camera) and see if there are any amazin deals I should investigate? that would be quite cool. http://newyork.craigslist.org/ele/
  24. what? is that sarcasm or are you for real?? omg Charles say it aint true! I've seen JP perform a few times, and it was utterly horrible. I mean, how many Madonna mixes can one torture people with? OKOK so I never really listen to him as I avoid his shite like the plague, but I thought it was the conventional wisdom among non-NJ/LI meatheads and sluts that JP is just not cool. Maybe he is talented and I just dont know it. ??? :-X
