  1. a guy 6'1 210 doesn't really fall into the juicehead category in my book, since it is possible to get this big without roids. Your friend probably is very fit. Juicehead in my book describes the guys who are more like 5'8 235 lbs, who have builds only attainable via steroids.
  2. i've seen lots of people who don't dance/ bring the energy down. never mind the juiceheads, what about the dozens of raver-types who line the walls, floor and speakers half passed out? There are a lot more of them than juiceheads. They look half dead. If they want to get all drugged out couldn't they put in a CD at home and do the same thing? I'm not a juicehead fan, all I am saying is that if all they are doing is standing there dancing badly then who cares. Of course, if they decide to start a fight then its a lot worse because of their size. But I haven't really seen much juicehead violence after hours, especially at Twilo. Unless someone has experienced a specific negative incident, all the juicehead bashing just sounds like making fun of people who choose to look differently and dance differently. The ego thing is annoying, but whoever got hurt because someone else has a high opinion of themself?
  3. I get really paranoid that my Twilo night will be ruined by some unforeseen catastrophe (S and D don't show, Guiliani sends in his hit squad and busts the night up, etc) I have such a good time, I just get nervous I'll miss it and have to wait another month...
  4. p00h, I agree nothing beats a big nap before hitting SnD. You miss all the crap with the lines and crowd and can just enjoy the music. Plus, the people that stay til the end are so into it you can feed off their energy, as well as the extra energy a half night of sleep gives you.
  5. If you don't have the stamina though, you're better off sleeping half the night and showing up around 5:30. You will have a lot more fun than fighting the crowd on the dance floor between 1:30 and 4
  6. speak for yourself, I'm dusting off my crack pipe right now...
  7. sorry about the multiple post thing. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for my post to show up, whether i hit refresh or not. Rather than reposting, i guess i should just wait a few minutes. patience is a virtue?
  8. Johnb, I always have thought that when gay people tell you that you look "gay", what they really are saying is that they like how you look and are hoping that you are gay. I have a similar build to what you describe and when I dance for several hours and get sweaty it seems like all I ever attract is guys. I think gay guys are more apt to chase what they want, as opposed to women who would prefer that it come to them. I know there are exceptions where women like to approach men. I'm just saying it happens less frequently. Also, if you do dance hard and get sweaty a lot of women are grossed out by that I think. When I was single I was always torn between 1) chill out and stay looking nice in the hopes of meeting the love of my life 2) saying screw it and getting lost in the music, clean sweatless appearance be damned... Inevitably, #2 always would win out. But its a relief to go all out from the beginning now, since my girlfriend doesn't mind sweat as long as its mine lol.

  11. It depends what clubs you go to, I suppose. Whenever I am at SF I always think the guys look better than the girls when I'm out. Plus, it always seems like the ratio of guys to girls is like 2 to 1. On top of that, 90% of the good looking girls go with their boyfriends. I can't blame girls not going alone though. When I go with my girlfriend, if I move more than 3 feet away from her some guy inevitably moves in to try the ass-grab approach. If I was a girl I wouldn't want to endure a whole night of that. That said, my girlfriend loves looking at all the men at SF, even though she likes the Twilo/Vinyl music better than JP. I also guess it depends what type of guys you like. If by nice looking you mean flashy dressing dudes, the big club scene places won't be good for that. I would never wear something nice to one of those places, by mid morning it will be ruined. The girls who dress up don't need expensive stuff to look fantastically sexy. They can buy a tight top for $10 that looks like the sexiest thing ever, and not give a damn if it gets sweaty and they have to throw it out. Also, I think clubs are generally a bad place to find boyfriends/girlfriends. If you are a single good looking guy and try to approach a girl nicely, more often than not she will lump you in with all the aforementioned annoying ass grabbers she has put up with that night, and she won't give you the time of day. If you are a single good looking woman, you will probably be on your guard and assume guys approaching are not worth your time. So, although its inefficient, I think its better to meet people through work/school/friends/etc. than trying to meet people blindly in clubs.

  13. a friend of mine who did a lot of acid in his day told me the exact same thing (don't try acid for the first time if you're over 20) his rationale is that it often "shifts your life perspective", and when you are older with more responsibilities, it is not a good time for a perspective shift. since i'm 28 and haven't done it yet, most likely I won't ever find out.
  14. Anyone have this? Is it good? How does it compare to Digweed Hong Kong?
  15. The problem with these kinds of news specials is that they are completely fictitious. By trying to make e sound like heroin, they lose all credibility. Kids watching will say "what a bunch of crap, i bet they make up stuff about all drugs, and they're all OK." The media has blatantly ignored the fact that GHB is far more dangerous than K, which is considerably more dangerous than E. It is an important distinction. By the way, alcohol is legal and has been actually shown to cause heart disease, obesity, liver failure in the long term, and overdose deaths, automobile accidents and extremely violent behavior in the short term. I've seen people get drunk and go looking for a fight. Ever hear a story about someone rolling hard and deciding to beat the shit out of someone for no reason? I doubt it. Why does alcohol enjoy its exalted legal status, while e is an "epidemic"? What about the alcohol epidemic? Also, the notion that they have established causality between ecstacy and alzheimer's is ridiculous. They don't even know what causes alzheimer's. How could they prove that ecstacy triggers it? By giving rats 6000 pills and seeing if they have trouble negotiating a maze? Give me a break. The spinal fluid thing is a complete urban legend too. I'll be the first to admit that e's long term effects haven't been studied. But at the same time alcohol's long term effects are known to be terrible, yet it is a legal drug and somehow the country goes on. Stop making such a big deal about E.

  19. Men shouldn't complain about sexy women being snotty, since men create their snottiness by craving the sexy women. You never see men falling all over themselves for average looking women. Women shouldn't complain about dashing wealthy guys being assholes, since women create those asshole personalities by craving the rich and handsome men. You never see women falling all over themselves for average looking guys with no money. If you find someone who is approximately your equal, they most likely will not be snotty to you, nor you to them. With any luck you will have something in common with them. That being said, i think on average the guys and ladies in New York are much cooler than anywhere else I've been. When I go back to my hometown in suburban massachusetts (talk about ugly people!), people look at my girlfriend and I like we are space aliens. In New York, even space aliens don't get looked at like they are space aliens.
  20. i've always thought Tool was incredible, both live and on disc. I agree with all the good things people have said about them. if I am listening to music with guitars, Tool is what I am probably playing.
  21. As for how to deal with Mondays, it can be tough, but caffeine and ephedrine are miracle workers. Still, Mondays are definitely a deflating experience. The contrast between a drab corporate environment and an exhilarating club weekend is most obvious on Monday. It can be depressing! Another trick is on saturday night to sleep from like 11PM - 5AM, and just hit after hours on sunday morning. This gets you back on a corporate sleep schedule, and the extra sleep comes in handy when the work week starts. Besides, Twilo, SF, etc. never really have space on the floor (or to breathe) until 6 or 6:30 anyway. I had a friend visit from San Diego this weekend, we got up at 5:30 A.M. sat. morn to go to Twilo, and it blew his mind that you can do this
