  1. i think i met that guy wit the glasses at limelite when tiesto came,
  2. im sure ur not gonna argue about the issues because u have no time, not cus u dont know them, anyway the sharpton factor doesnt even need to be discussed because FERRER SUPPORTED GREEN. Im arguing about this because i want to know why people voted for Bloomberg, and like i thought and as u have shown. its because they watch too much tv and dont know the facts, u cant deny that green has gotten alot done for the city, he would of made a better mayor. period.
  3. ok lets not turn this into simple name calling, please substantiate your statement with facts. If Green ran the most vicious campaign then why did Ferrer give his support to Green? How exactly is Mark Green the biggest joke?? oh really...I guess all the years he was public advocate doesnt count, since im sure u dont read the newspaper let me tell you what green was doing for the people of New York while Bloomberg was counting his millions.... After his investigation found 61% of NYC elementary schools are at or over capacity, Advocate Green's Class Size Summit in 2000 prompted State officials to clear the way for $60 million in new federal aid for City schools Ending the Mob Garbage Cartel: First, he opened the market to national firms as Consumer Affairs Commissioner and then Advocate Green wrote the initial bill to end the garbage cartel's $500 million a year "mob tax" on NYC businesses - and rates fell two-thirds. Holding HMOs and Hospitals Accountable: Among 20 reports on HMOs and hospitals, Green's 1997 investigation that found HMOs violated the State Managed Care Bill of Rights 83% of the time, the Attorney General imposed fines for violations. Green's two probes of hospitals violating the "Libby Zion" regulations limiting resident working hours prompted a State crack-down on violating hospitals. Assisting Rape Survivors: After his 1994 investigation found that most HHC hospitals failed to adequately treat rape survivors, Advocate Green worked with the hospitals and now virtually all have 24 hour rape counseling programs and separate intake/exam rooms. Combating Police Misconduct: After Advocate Green successfully sued the NYPD in 1997 to win access to the secret disciplinary records of abusive officers, the Department's disciplinary rate tripled. He was an outspoken critic of Commissioner Howard Safir - calling for his resignation after the shooting of Amadou Diallo. Money & Elections: After three decades as a leader in the effort to reform of federal and local campaign finance laws, Green co-authored landmark legislation in 1998 to reduce the maximum contribution to citywide candidates from $8,500 to $4,500 and create a 4:1 public funding match. Brooklyn Museum: Green organized a coalition of 39 elected officials who filed a "friend of the court" brief in support of the Brooklyn Museum's successful lawsuit to block the Mayor's effort to deny funding to the museum. Voter Registration: Under the Miller-Green "Pro-Voter" Law, more than twenty City agencies are now required to provide residents seeking City services with the opportunity to register to vote Children: C-PLAN, an award winning public-private partnership created by Advocate Green, has helped 2,000 families and 5,000 children untangle the child welfare bureaucracy. Before the tragic murder of Elisa Izquierdo, in 1995, he had urged reforms of the system and outlined a blueprint for change, including creation of a separate child welfare agency. Safer Schools: His investigation, Construction vs. Children, prompted reforms to improve environmental safety on school construction projects. Advocate Green also led successful efforts in 1997 to close an East Harlem school contaminated by perchloroethylene and in 1999 blocked construction of an EMS facility that had produced dangerous fumes in a Bronx school yea what a huge loser green is, i would hate for this guy to run the city, gimmie a break, there is no logical argument to elect bloomberg, if u got something to say about green back it up with some facts.
  4. ok so how would it be safer under bloomberg? what policy has he put forth that is superior to green's? or are u as most new yorkers just assuming this because Giuliani endorsed him?
  5. i think ive lost all faith in nyc to make intelligent decisions on their own. What logical reasoning is there to elect Bloomberg mayor??? He's just living out some billionaire fantasy of becoming a mayor. And this is based on the assumption that running a media company qualifies him to run a city. Anybody who has worked in government or politics knows thats a crock. Politics works on a mixture of idealism, ambition, and self intrest. Business works on money, stocks, and profits. The assumptions of command and control that work in a corporate environment have nothing to do with politics. Bloomberg's campaign has no ideas, no initiatives, no original thinking and no program. It is a series of TV ads in search of a candidate, a bank account, running for office. And in the biggest hipocrasy so far has been the hispanic supporters of Ferrer who voted for Bloomberg....what were u thinking?!?!? After the democratic primary, bloomberg sends out flyers to all the hispanic voters telling them he is the spiritual and logical heir to Ferrer's campaign, the flyer includes statements from other Ferrer supporters now backing Bloomberg. What it fails to mention is that FERRER IS ENDORSING GREEN. Ok now at the same time as Bloomberg is calling himself the right choice for Ferrer supporters, he is also calling himself the natural succesor to Guiliani politics......let me explain the hipocrisy here.,..... Ferrer's campaign was run on the notion that Guiliani's revival of new york left out thousands of blacks and hispanics. Ferrer claimed he was the anti-Guiliani, and his campaign caused historic turnout among Hispanic voters. These same people then voted for Bloomberg, the pro-Rudy candidate. How can the pro-Rudy sucessor to Giuliani talk about the respect he has for the campaign of the Anti-Giuliani candidate???!?! This contradiction sets a new standard for hypocrisy. Does Michael BLoomberg really respect Ferrer ? or the voters? or just their convinient ethnicity?? that is in a nutshell what we can expect from bloomberg, completely business minded, no ethics, no boundries.
  6. i think perfecto meant few taliban soldiers were killed, but anyway i agree musharaff is very close to assasination, i think pakistan is only helping the us now because it wants political favors from the us when it comes to the whole situation in kashmir, they are also further complicating things by not supporting a nothern alliance raid of kabul. Why dont they support the nothern alliance?? In short simply because India has been supporting them for years, yes the northern alliance is a minority compared to the pashtuns, but thats not pakistans main concern. The taliban are a pakistani creation, they are pakistanis, the US might have supplied the ammunition but Pakistan is where the taliban breeds new recruits. The US can destroy all the terrorist camps in afghanistan, it wont matter because there are still hundreds of them in pakistan. America will not be safe until pakistan is also dealt with.
  7. US sucess in afghanistan depends primarily on just how much pakistan will help them. every day it seems the riots in pakistan are getting bigger and bigger, and the president even had to fire one of his generals because he was goin to make a move against him. Just how long do u think pakistan will hold up against this growing anti-american sentiment?? Just today the news said bin laden 'unsucessfully' tried to buy uranium from pakistan. If his contacts are that deep in pakistan to be able to almost reach the nuclear weapons, u gota wonder exactly how much pull he has there. Pakistani president musharaff states over and over that it is the minority of pakistani's that support the taliban. Even if that is true it does seem like the taliban supporters are a powerful group. Pakistan itself is under a govt that came to power with a military coup, and it hasnt always had the best track record with honesty, especially towards the united states. About 7 or 8 years ago a group of mountain climbers were taken hostage in Kashmir by rebel forces supported by pakistan. These mountain climbers were americans and europeans, about 8 of them. They had nothing to do with the conflict between india and pakistan in kashmir but were held hostage for 3 years. Their families made national broadcasts pleading the rebels to let their family members go for a while, until one day the head of one of the americans was found. Shortly after the rebels confirmed that all the men were executed. It has recently come out that the rebel forces in kashmir are actually taliban soldiers who were working with pakistani military. Pakistan will deny it of course, but we must keep these things in mind when deal with Pakistan.
  8. so did they offer you a position after the internship was done? was there any perks? which dept did u work in? did u learn alot? sorry about all the questions i just want a better idea of what to expect, this is supposed to be for credit so i need to know if i will gain from the experience.
  9. i have an interview with mtv for a fall internship, i was wondering if anyone else has gone through this, is this internship worth it? ive heard good things about the summer internship but nothing about the fall. any advice would be helpful, also should i wear a suit?
  10. i know what your sayin, its a dumb teeny show about aliens, trust me i used to think the same exact thing, until i watched three episodes and i was hooked, this is by far one of the best written shows on network tv, it didnt get the ratings on wb because it was on right before 7th heaven, not exactly the right demographic, its on ch 9 now and i hope u all see what i mean. this is a great show just give it a chance.
  11. after spending what seemed like an eternity online at ticketmaster i managed to get tickets, anyone else here goin for the thurs show?
  12. god i hope it is exit, its about time that place got its roof blown off, someone can finally make use of its sound system the way it was meant to be. and now we can do a reverse invasion, a welcome change.
  13. the last thing i thought was gonna happen was a grand slam, what a pathetic game. Benitez is getting paid off or something, it was pure brilliance the way that game was lost.
  14. do u all buy ur tickets from ticketmaster? the couple of times ive used ticketmaster the seats i get arent the greatest even when im paying a decent amout of money for them and i get them same day they go on sale. For once i'd like to be on the floor near the stage, does anyone know another route i can take to get better tickets?
  15. i have the same problem too, the only solution is u gotta just get up, force it, dont look back just get up once u hit the shower u'll feel better
  16. where are u guys getting your deals from? Who's got the best spring break package out rite now?
  17. hey its my friend's bday too, maybe its the same girl
  18. i saw clockwork orange recently and im confused to say the least. what was it about? was he trying to say violence is inherent in people, or society is constraining the true nature of man? i dunno, it really bugged me out, interesting costumes though
  19. do u disagree with jenkins sonic? What jenkins said is what i remember also, what i mean is that all the fighting in kashmir has always begun by pakistan inciting rebel forces. India is not out there killing innocent people, the rebel forces however are.
  20. i said it wasnt directed at you, alot of people were reading this thread so i wanted to get these facts out.
  21. all this anger, what good will come of it? The really sad part is that most of this anger will be directed towards people that have nothing to do with terrorism. If your goin to go out and harass people at least have the knowledge to know who you are angry at. This isnt directed at synderella or anyone else, its just that i keep hearing of these attacks all over the country against INDIANS. ALL RACISTS READ CAREFULLY: MEN WITH TURBANS AND BEARDS ARE NOT MUSLIM, THEY ARE NOT EVEN AFGHANI, THEY ARE SIKHS. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH BIN LADEN, SIKHS HAVE BEEN IN AMERICA SINCE THE 1800's, THEY ARE JUST AS AMERICAN AS ANYONE ELSE. SIKHS ARE INDIAN, INDIA IS THE MORTAL ENEMY OF ALL MUSLIM TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS, INDIA IS HATED EVEN MORE THAN AMERICA. SO ALL THOSE TAXI DRIVERS AND GAS STATION ATTENDANTS YOU THINK ARE THE ENEMY ARE NOT. most people u think are arabic are probably Indian, there are alot more indians in the tristate area than arabics, also most of you would probably not even recognize a true Arab because real Arabs look white. A sikh man has already been KILLED in Arizona because of this. I bet his killer thinks he did his american duty. There is nothing more dangerous than ignorance.
  22. ok my question is why do you say thousands of Kashmiris killed by India making it sounds as if India is terrorizing the land and Pakistan deserves no blame? In the middle east land was taken away from the Palestinians by outside forces (UN) in Jammu and Kashmir there was an agreed upon border set before independance. The battles that followed independance are not the fault of Kashmiris rising up and fighting an oppressor, they were caused by various militant groups trying to widen the Pakistani border into Kashmir, if anything India has only been defending its borders. Correct me if im wrong.
  23. i have no problem with the 'lets give peace a chance' argument but i'd like you to explain the line about India killing thousands of Kashmiris, and also how that is anything like Palestine and Israel. Are u knowledgeable of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict or are you one of the many people on this board that make generalizations based on very little fact?
  24. can someone who has already downloaded this to their hd put it up on a ftp so the rest of us computer illiterates can save it too:confused:
