I used to work in Princeton and lived 5 minutes away. If you are used to NY then it will be a big change. It's far from rural though. Then town itself is nice,upscale,many good places to eat. No club scene, mostly bars since the University is there. Renting in town will be very expensive. Try nearby Plainsboro, many apts for 800-1,000 a month for 1 bedroom. The area is filled with people who work for consulting firms,drug companies,etc. Driving to the city will be a pain but the train is easy and will take about 50 minutes. Hope this helps.
