you know what's funny, i was on slsk the other day and some toolbox is d/l'ing my stuff so i browse his selection which is like 99.9% filth basically anything you'd hear at ktu, sf, draper, vicious all that bullshit. so i come accross these sf mixes by JP and lo and behold the guy actually had a bunch of techno tracks on there i swear like ben sims and selway and shit.

arc should just cancel their saturday and bring carola over to the lunatarium. i'm serious. howels canceled (right?) so his loyal crowd won't be there, that leaves the techno fans choosing between carola at arc and a million dope ass dj's at lunatarium....plus no liquor at arc, cheap beer at luna....and to top it all off carola played not too long ago at tronic as opposed to beyer where it's almost been a year. the choice here isn't that hard.....it would make no sense whatsoever to go to arc that night.

yes but the question is whether echostar is 100% an original name or if there was anything else named echostar before it....which i don't think there was. for example, you can name yourself dj mcdonalds or dj burger king if you want....mcdonald is a common name, burger and king are dictionary words. seriously i don't think it'll be a problem...i think there's a guy named dj pepsi, i doubt that pepsico went after him. i think it'll be a bigger issue if you put say, echostar using echostar's logo in your CD as a spoof...

you might be able to get away with it since you're not in competing markets, although it gets strict if the name isn't a common dictionary word or another name created before the trademark was issued (prior art). for example, you couldn't get away with naming yourself dj coca-cola, but you could definitely get away with using dj pontiac or dj ford.....

unless you: 1. do this professionally where its part of your job and you get paid to do it or; 2. you're extremely, extremely fucking rich. i say it's absolutely not worth sound proofing your room because some lady is pissed. it's better for you to go find a new place instead where people don't mind noise, or just not give a fuck until she tries to evict you which would take months and months, and i don't think i've ever heard of anyone who's gotten evicted because of loud music. sound proofing foam won't do the job....the stuff you get at guitar center for example, is used to reduce reverberation so you get a clean sound, not to prevent neighbors from hearing it. you would need to sound proof the whole room, not just the floor....the walls and ceilings also, because vibration from the walls and ceiling carry down to the floor as well. chances are your other neighbors are hearing too, but they just don't give a fuck. to sound proof a room to the point where no one around you will hear anything, you'll need to get a professional company to do it, they'll also sound proof the windows and doors, install a foot thick layer on top of your walls, floor + ceiling....you're looking at something like 10 grand depending on the size of the room....absolutely not worth it. if you try doing it yourself, it'll still run in the thousands since the material is expensive, and chances are it won't work too good so people will still complain.
