  1. most of the people i talk to that are hardcore techno fans think this is the best lineup yet. just cuz you never heard of the names, doesn't mean they're no good. it actually seems to me nowadays the less famous they are, the better the music is.
  2. for some reason the first time my eye hit this sentence, i read "Every year for my birthday all my friends take me out and i do a DISTURBING amount of blow whatever is there, lol" guess my mind is in the gutter.
  3. he did pretty good last night. would've been nicer if more people showed up though.
  4. this isnt a public service, its a privately owned system. on that note, the owners/moderators can pretty much do whatever the hell they want and they don't have to answer to anyone (who does not provide them with a paycheck).....if that's a problem, i'm sure there's plenty of other boards out there. that said.....i think its more or less of a unspoken rule that when you're an active member (ie: post on discussions, etc) you may get away with mentioning an event or two, etc....but if you have like 40 posts and every single one some promotion for some cheesy party (ie: you dont contribute anything but promote some crap) then chances are you'll have your posts moved out pretty quickly. but that's just an observation.
  5. well he's not cancelling them....just moving them to europe

  7. filter actually wasnt as packed as the first time....i guess they did a good job with the reverse promotion the dance floor was pretty packed most of the night, but that little lounge area wasn't really...you could even find a seat at times. as for richie, i dunno i wasn't feeling most of the shit he played, but it got pretty good towards the end. as for detroit, he's "to be confirmed", which can be read as "probably not, but there's a slight chance"
  8. didn't he start his career as a party promoter for nyc clubs?
  9. the battery keeps the time going when the computer's off. but if it's drifting when it on, then it's likely to be something else.
  10. it'll be a good time.....if you'll be able to get in
  11. i have the new client and i haven't been able to connect today.
  12. clocks on PCs are notoriously crappy. i dont have a single machine with a clock at what it should be. you can run a little program that periodically syncs with the right time (by contacting a public time server on the net). most machines will drift forward or backwards by a few minutes every month. but what he's saying i believe is that it happens within minutes....like by the end of the day the clock is 30 minutes off or something. if that's the case, then it could be any of those things on my previous post.
  13. it's very likely you have a faulty motherboard. try this: -turn off all background applications, specially antivirus. see if the problem still happens. -check the time on the BIOS setup screen to see if it's off like in windows -turn off all power management functions in windows and in the BIOS. -update the BIOS on your motherboard if there's a newer version if it's not the above, then your motherboard crapped out.
  14. i dont know about club culture, but i sure like culture club.
  15. i also have the EA-1 and use it only for the sequencer...the synth sounds are hideous, but at least you have this 2 part sequencer that's a snap to use. i plan on selling it someday when i can afford something better but right now i'm broke so i'm keeping it. as far as resale value, the truth with these units is, the price has nowhere to go but down. you can expect to sell the EA for $150, the ER for 200 and the ES for 300 or so. I bought my EA for $175 2 years ago, when used on ebay they were $250. right now, they're going for $150 on ebay and the tendency is for the price to go down...check prepal.com i dont quite see why the RS7000 is a "philosophical" problem. you need a master sequencer to sync everything together, having one main control station for all your synths keeps things simple (one thing to learn, one thing to maintain, work on). having a million little grooveboxes each to do one thing makes things more complicated, and is a hassle to transport/setup/takedown. the tendency right now is to have as little gear doing as much as possible...you don't see many live PAs with 10 keyboards anymore, for the simple reason that its no longer needed....you can do much more with less gear than you could before and when you're doing something live, keeping things simple and at arms reach is a huge plus.
  16. here's my suggestion: if you have enough $$ for the virus without selling the ms2k, get that, then sell the ms2k, sp303, the EA-1 and the ES-1 (and maybe even the ER-1 also, although it's drum modeling shit can be fun) and buy a used RS7000. It's great for live PAs, step sequencing, good sampler, large screen and the tone box built in is far from shabby. or you can get a RM1X, which is the RS7000 older and smaller version (similar sequencer, but no sampler, smaller screen, built in sounds not as good). its also cheaper. i also heard good things about the emu XL7 (sequencer wise, not sounds)....lots of knobs, easy to use step sequencer. about the xx200 boxes, i dont recommend it....yeah they're cheap now (under $200 used i think) since they're out of production, but you have a DX7 which sounds better than the DX200 and the AN200 doesnt even compare to the virus so you dont need another analog modeling box. as far as writing your own, i had this idea of tweaking a linux distro (very stripped down) suited for live PA use, with an RTLinux kernel for real time audio (low latency, no skipping, no crashing) and then having a sequencer part to it suited for live use (controlled externally with a controller or groovebox) and a synth part to it much like reason with synths, samplers, fxs, and have them integrated....too much for a one man job though so i sort of put that aside for now.
  17. they were going to, but then george bush found out that kim jong has the world largest collection of porn, and decided to spare him.
  18. well if you haven't realized by now, it's this administration's goal to turn the middle east into a gigantic fucking parking lot so we all have somewhere to park our gas guzzling SUVs. iran is probably next after syria.
  19. comparing a virus c to an xv is like comparing a ferrari to a fucking horse carriage. i've used the c plenty of times, you can't go wrong with it, definitely go for it....i think it's my favorite one for the price right now (of the newer analog modeling synths)....it just sounds fucking amazing. moving from the ms2k to a virus c is one hell of an upgrade, you should sell the ms2k cuz i guarantee you'll never even need that shit again.
  20. that's not true. baseball is not the only sport that fits this description, other exciting sports such as golf and chess fit that just as well.
  21. so basically your definition of "#1 DJ" is who's most popular, who's the supastar.....ok, in that case you may be right....since he's widely regarded as south america's version of paul oakenfold, whether you think that's a good or a bad thing, well.....we're each entitled to our own opinion.
