  1. who would you say is europe's #1 DJ? who would you say is asia's #1 DJ? who would you say is north america's #1 DJ? it's a very bold statement to go out and declare #1 "anything"....that was my point.
  2. "South America's #1 DJ" now that's a bold statement.....
  3. it just passed in the house by a whooping 400-25 vote....which leads me to believe it's gonna pass in the senate no matter what. afaik, the rave act provisions stayed in the bill. http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/04/10/amber.alert.ap/index.html
  4. Actually I have a master's degree from a top school in my field, so again, don't go yapping about shit you don't know (since you're obviously implying i'm an uneducated ape, as opposed to your illustrious big mouthed self). The "club god" designation is automatically assigned by the board and i have no control over what it says, again, comment on shit you have a clue on. About being a probable crackhead....I'll plead the fifth on that one  You don't need to know every single DJ, but when you title a post with "DJs" in quotes clearly indicating sarcasm and then go on to yap about "so called international djs" again in a condescending tone, your post CLEARLY comes out as being idiotic and arrogant. Otherwise you wouldn't have gotten the responses you got. I don't speak for myself here, that's for sure.
  5. true....but most people with minimal common sense would know to keep their mouths shut and not yap about shit they have no clue about....at least until they know more about it. this IS cp though.
  6. that's the crude state of this technology....once everyone's on broadband, technologies like freenet will become feasible....where EVERYONE's a proxy, and all data is encrypted. there's absolutely no way to define where the data comes from....well there *sort of* is but i'd have to post my research paper on it figuring out the originator is impossible for all practical purposes....i wont get into the math
  7. i disagree. you're basically working from the assumption that the RIAA will triumph by suing everyone out of existance. lemme give you a little bit of history. way before p2p sharing apps were created, way before the web was a major part of modern society, there was an active "underground" network of machines dedicated to the distribution of copyrighted material. these systems thrived on the fact that unlike today's p2p systems, some random person just couldn't gain access - you had to have something to offer (a solid channel for more illegal works) OR know someone from within. once the internet started to gain in popularity, these services shifted from the dialup networks to telnet, irc and ftp sites....but again it wasnt a free for all, you still had to gain access. at that point, the scale of it wasn't so large as to piss the riaa off so they did nothing about it.....litigation is costly to them as well, if the threat isn't great, there's no reason to waste $$$ on lawyers. IF (and that's a big if) the RIAA succeeds in setting enough examples to scare off the majority of the population, there will still be smaller "pockets" of systems dedicated to spreading music and the like - it'll become more restrictive like it was in the early 90s but it'll still exist. the RIAA will largely ignore them as they won't pose as big of a threat. and personally i couldnt care less...90% of the people sharing files are trading britney spears and nsync and crap like that, which i couldnt give a shit about...if those people are gone, it'll make no difference to me. the crowd dedicated to spreading music will stick around, and will find the proper channels to do so and remain under the radar.....that's how its always been and it'll continue to be like that, specially with newer technologies such as freenet and encrypted anonymous proxy based systems.
  8. i have a SP250...from the recently fucked company, sonic blue....it's manufactured by iriver....its works decent....build quality is pretty crappy, if your cd has scratches it'll have problems with it (unlike most cdrom drives that dont seem to mind a few scratches). also the sound quality isn't the best out there....volume is too low, and it's got a brittle high end, the bass is too rumbly and not tight and smooth enough, the mids are a little better but not awesome. the only other portable i can compare to is my old sharp MD recorder. i've found it to be of MUCH superior sound quality, even when comparing a MD track (1:5 compression) to a 320kbps (1:4 compression) MP3.
  9. evidently you've never been to downtown detroit....how can put it...hmm...it's ghetto, but not quite rap video ghetto....its like those neighborhoods in queens/bklyn where its sort of desolate and lots of abandoned buildings....basically as long as you dont attract attention to yourself, you're ok....but if you do, there ain't gonna be anyone around to help you. detroit is not a nice "safe" place by any means....not too long ago it was rated #1 crime capital of the U.S......although i dont think it still is.
  10. the drive isn't too bad if you split with two or more people you can do it in one day. your other options are flying and bus. taking the bus really blows cuz it takes FOREVER. flying is a lot more expensive but quick....expect to pay $250 tops for roundtrip, maybe a little less. the best solution is finding people who are driving and get a ride with them...4 people in a car sharing gas & tolls it'll come out real cheap. even if you rent a car with 4 ppl, each would pay like $125 or so which is half of plane cost...but if say its only you and someone else, then its not worth it since you'd each be paying $250...same as plane. if i go i'm pretty sure i'll take a plane....i'd rather drive and save money but i don't know anyone who's driving and me personally....there's no way i'm driving my car to the car jacking capital of the world seriously....if you drive anything even reasonably nice, i do not recommend you go parading that shit through detroit.
  11. www.movementfestival.com the event formerly know as the DEMF©®
  12. what a crap lineup. the best thing on there is sonic youth, but for 30 bucks??
  13. didnt know you moved to baghdad!
  14. tape drives aren't cost effective anymore....i haven't used one in probably 4 years....i have a 10/20Gb one gathering dust in my closet. one thing you can do is buy a hard drive large enough for all your data, buy a drive tray thing, and instead of using raid, copy all files into it then remove the drive and store it in a safe place. to copy the files you can use a backup utility or a folder copy app. here's what i do: old machine on a lan with a bunch of large hard drives. every night, i run a script that mounts them on my main box, and i run robocopy (free app, look on the net) to copy only the files that have been changed into it, then unmounts the volume. if i get a virus on the main box (never happened to me ever) then the data is safe because it's not visible to the box since it's only mounted when its copying. if theres a fire or flood then i'm fucked but guess what...even with tapes....they'll get burned down as well unless you keep them buried in your backyard or something, so that's a moot point. as far as raid, i've heard of raids fucking up and ruining all the data, plus my main box is used to multitrack recording and raid interferes with that, since the pci bus is almost all taken up due to the multitrack sound card. from experience, the single biggest problem is hard drive failure....not viruses or natural disasters so this is pretty safe.
  15. i didnt see anybody taking pics, and if they were it was probably some random people.....i've never seen anyone taking pics at tronic for any website and i'm there pretty much every week.

    Cnn

yeah cp's always a step behind the booth.
  17. not quite. people go to factory just to go there, and most couldn't give two shits who was spinning. have JP play at some dirty small room somewhere the same night while some other shit dj is at factory and see how many people give up factory to go see JP. if this guy was any good he'd get plenty of respect internationally.....like DT for example.
  18. i'm not sure i'd use the word "talent pool" considering most people i've seen its more like "cesspool of stupidity"
  19. cox in both skill and popularity (worldwide). picotto is just more popular in nyc because he plays here more often.
  20. you go girl! now THAT's what i call a bitchslap!
  21. that's a flat out stupid statement which makes absolutely no sense. the fact that iraq didnt cooperate with the resolutions was not UN's fault obviously - only iraq is to blame. and if the UN did as the US wanted and approved use of force THEN the war would be the fault of the UN. i think your rage against those opposed to war is getting to your head. think before you speak.
