    Earplugs?

I wear earplugs everytime I visit the clubs. At Redno5 it's about necessary. Plug em before you get into the club. It'll save you from that ringing so you can get to sleep when you go to bed.
  2. Angelist is NOT @ crobar. That's all anyone needs to know right now. But if you're real nosey, you'd send me a note. QH, you're so unsure of your info, how can you be satisfied w/ getting half assed scoop? If you don't know for sure, they're just rumors.
  3. does anyone have <A HREF="http://www.clubplanet.com/guestlists/" TARGET="_blank"> guestlist</A> info for this event?
  4. And what in hell does this have to do with GEESE?
  5. kim, there's nothing wrong w/ this topic. This topic opens up discussion on a lot of things and this is one of the few forums that people can talk freely about illegal substances so long as the discussion is not about transactions regarding them. Relax, it's just a discussion. Which brings me to this: I believe in law and order. I believe in education and people increasing in maturity, knowledge, and self control. I also believe in cognitive liberties. By that, I mean that people should be allowed the freedom of a well educated choice to alter their own state of consciousness. drug use is an everyday thing, legal or not. Any of you drink coffee? Use Motrin or Tylenol for a headache? As far as recreational drugs in the party scene, it's always gonna be part of the scene. AND YES, ALCHOHOL IS A DRUG. It's a legal drug, just like caffiene and nicotine, but is it any less damaging to your body than illegal ones? Are there any less harmful incidents w/ alchohol? If legality were not an issue, people would usually opt for a drug that is more economic and has a better buzz. To a lot of people the risk of taking any particular illegal drug puts them at no greater legal danger than going 5 miles over the speed limit or jaywalking. Dance Safe does a lot to promote education of certain substances. This is proactive to any dangerous incidents which is a basis for harm reduction. DJam, I know you're trying to be proactive to clubs getting shut down. Almost a year ago I worried about the same thing and it brought me deeper into the problem, past the politics and legalities and personal motivation. It took me to education and rational choices. People should be well aware of what they're putting in their bodies. They should know an effective dose, how it relates to their body weight, all the possible side effects, possible experiences, and recovery methods. They should also know their own personal thresholds and what is involved when pushing it. Armed with this knowledge, people can make rational decisions regarding any drug, legal or not and reduce danger to themselves and their partying buddies.
  6. here's another idea: how bout people test their own shit? For not much more than the cost of an effective dose, you can get an EZ test kit of your own and test a couple hundred pills. They're even available right from Dance Safe. If any of you has taken more than one dose this year, you should have your own test kit. Anyone you do business with should have one, and all your rolling buddies should have one too. If you rely on the "guinea pig" method of testing, who knows? the next guinea pig that dies may be a friend.
  7. Dance Safe makes it much easier for people to know if they're putting actual MDA or MDMA in their bodies. This is a good thing because not everyone is doing business w/ trustworthy individuals with the actual desired substance. Now, no way in hell is this city or any club gonna let this happen because possession of MDA or MDMA is illegal. So, to answer the question: it's good, but it's wrong, legally. Is anyone???

sratch: are you talking about the cowboy concert? Mrs Der and I were there. I love erasure. I think the only Chicago appearance that I missed was when they opened for Duran Duran in 1987.

    Is anyone???

I met my wife at their violator concert back in 89. oh shit, I am getting old.
  10. Those guys are not big names but they definitely get around. DRC was here last winter, and I believe Adam X was too. The only one I've heard was DRC. I hate to classify but it sounded to me like funky techno/ tribal/ breaks. She is amazing on the turntables and works the hell out of em making the most creative loops. I almost don't know how to describe her, but I wouldn't miss that show.
  11. Let's take it right back to the topic here: maybe some women are just so stupid.
  12. hey don't dig too far for this one. It's totally primal for a woman to want to procreate w/ someone w/ talent, intelligence, or physical prowess. This insures that the next generation will have a contribution to their society. It's a totally natural instinct to have but not a trait that is acceptable to vocalize publically. No worries tho, it's a very noble thing. Dudes don't have as much discretion when it comes to procreating the human race.

    Ok question

awwww, see that? you can tell they dig each other.
  14. dishing out a lil trash talk on this board is how us Chi-area people show love to each other. That is, unless you are plugging a lame website or trying "to front". So, with that said, FUCK YOU ALL!! back to the topic: I'm gonna try to make it out this night, Tracy loves redno5 and I get a feelin it'll be a real good set.

  17. Amazing. 1/ because he brought it on, nice and hard instead of toning it down for the Chicago crowd. much better than last time. Every set of his I've heard his has always impressed me. 2/ amazing that bigsis remembers anything from that night. aaahhhh! just kidding. don't get mad again.

    Saturday Night?

Ernie Vega at redno5 too on Sat. Can't do anything that night without missing 2 other great events. I know a lot of people plan on going to the whiteout thing. As for crobar saturdays. They're fukken nuts dude. It's great to be off your nut, meet a bunch of people that are so social. There's no vibe like that anywhere else. Downside is there's no crowd like that either. It becomes a real chore to get anywhere when it's so packed. It's a love and hate thing w/ Crobar. It just depends on my "mood." The main floor is real hard w/ Teri and Psycho spinning house. With them on the stage, it's gonna be even more packed in the rest of the club. There's always the mez though which is more open and always has room to dance up there. Who spins at transit on sat's? is it John Curley? I've been meaning to see him there for a while.

Werd has it that she's gonna be spinning again this Friday, so take that into consideration for your plans this weekend. I'll get back w/ more details as I get them. Der

    Ok question

Funny, that's all I can stand listening to in my car. I don't drive a lot, I don't have a cd player in my car (cheap), and I haven't made any tapes since 94 (lazy). I'm still sad about Garth Brooks' retirement and I can't stand the Dixie Chiks. If you like percussion and/or Taiko drummers, Kodo - Nasca Fantasy is an excellent cd which mixes a lot of electronic new age, percussion, and South American woodwinds. I've seen that group you're talking about and they were doing a number from that cd.

    Ok question

I like new age: enya, mike oldfield, stuff like that. It's still kinda techno I guess. I like blink 182 and A-teens. I also like a lil bit of Hawaiiana cuz I get all reminiscent of the island life.
  22. fukken hilarious. This whole thing reminds me of that chicago fusion guy plugging his site a few months ago, and that one girl last year who came on asking for fashion advice. I'm reprazentn da inner courtyard of the 7315 Phase 4 Village Square Association, yo. Come kik my ass but don't fuk w. my garden cuz I worked hard puttin those ferns and ivy in there.
  23. Let's not forget DJ Psychobitch at Rive Gauche and the visiting talent every Thurs brought in by PURE to redno5. JUN.07 - John Acquaviva JUN.14 - Jimmy Van M JUN.21 - Donald Glaude/Pete Heller JUN.28 - Josh Wink JUL.05 - Darren Emerson & Youssef JUL.12 - Basement Jaxx / Ian Pooley JUL.19 - DJ Dan JUL.26 - John Acquaviva
