1. b-boy, that reminds me of a story when my friends totally wanted to go out and celebrate their 21st b-day by clubbing, we were gonna go to Neo or something, anyway, it was me and the 2 friends (twins) sitting at their house just watching tv, I'm all dressed up and ready to go, the twins just in their house clothes. My bro arrives and he's not dressed up. We were watching tv and he says he's not gonna go but stick around and watch tv with us til we leave. It's about 10 and I tell the guys to start getting ready but my bro tells us all that 10 is still too early. So we wait around until 11:30 and he says, well the clubs aren't gonna be kicking til about 1, so just leave at 12:00, but when midnight finally comes around, the twins decide that they're too tired to go out. I was so livid, I bout went "highschool" on all them. I can't even remember what the hell I did after that. I can't even remember what I wore but I prolly looked real good for sitting around and watching fukking TV!

so sorry

It woulda all been different if you had gone to Aura on Friday with all of us instead of the Mission. Now for THAT you should be apologizing for. jus kidn, you should not be apologizing for shit, things happen, deers are crazy. It's good that you're okay enough to go partying again, I hope the same for your friend and the deer.
3. for about 2 hours my wife gave me every detail of the evening she had at Rive Gauce. Apparently it was a good time. It goes without saying that Psycho has a big local following but her own personal entourage of friends are along too and they're all fun people to be around. Psycho played a lot of the anthem type music and my wife met a lot of the people and just had a blast with the regular clubbers. The rest of the crowd was almost all dudes and a bunch of people who really couldn't let loose on the dance floor and it cleared out early. But, based on the fun that I missed out on, I think I'll have to tag along for the next time Psycho spins at Rive Guache. The word now is: Psychobitch Thursdays at Rive Gauche.
4. This is what I put on another message board regarding this online petition: That thing has been around for over a year convincing people that they can contribute by signing the thing. If you actually want to help out the scene in Chicago it's gonna take more than signing an outdated online petition. The girl who wrote that petition cannot be reached and her group took to doing parties in the suburbs. The only group in Chicago that's organized and along with the recording industry, confronting the city regarding such issues with the music scene, is the "DJ'ing is not a crime" group. They're the ones who did the Party in the Park a few weeks back. Chris Gin knows about that stuff and here's an addy for more info: djinc@mac.com B2B: You're doing a good thing with the plans you have. Those are gonna do more for the scene in Chicago than a billion signatures on that online thingy. IP:
5. some crazy chik gave me a necklace all full of whistles. YOu oughta beat her ass Kim.
6. Tracy spins trance/breaks. She's spinning from 10 - 12 at Aura tonight and is a resident in the Crobar mezz on Saturdays and goes in hour shifts w/ Dano who spins trance/house. Saturdays on the main floor at crobar is all house by Teri Bristol and DJ Psychobitch. It's hype night so be prepared for some heavy shit.
7. B-boy: Easy there, killer. that dude was prolly just doing his friends a favor by plugging. Any publicity even bad, is still publicity. He was just bein a sore loser in not getting the opinion he wanted to hear when he asked.
8. yah, I'm going. Guys, It looks like she's opening, so she'll be on between 10:00 and 10:30 and will be on for a couple hours or so. Who else? Der
9. If I wanted a review from an experienced clubber, numbers wise, I'd go with one from a 40 yr old before getting one from a 22 yr old.
10. Forreal, dude: "BYE BYE!" Your only purpose for coming onto this message board was to plug your site. We've all already seen it so that purpose has been served. Quit trying to sell us on it. Just leave and come back in a few months to plug it again.
11. sis: mcgreevey's? Anyone knowing what the hell you're talking about is showing their age. Who the hell was it DJ'ing there anyway? Do you remmeber? I remember not giving a shit. It was just a place to hang out. Which room did you hang in? the hip hop room or the new wave room?

Good Morning!!!

"rolls", he said. Damn, it's cold as hell out there.
13. At Aura of all places, but it's Tracy Tobey, aka DJ Angelist who's played for PURE and Crobar. Spinning for this Feul - Departures event, trance, with a good mix of nu-skool breaks, so forget what you remember from her NYE or redno5 slots. It's totally different. She'll be on from around 10:30 to 1:00.
14. The door staff at Crobar are damn pros at spottin fakes. But now, the staff at redno5, like P-Poppin said, it's worth a shot, cuz chances are, you'll get in. Don't get me rong, I'm not promoting delinquency but I know personally of people getting in there off of fakes on a regular basis.
15. What time would this shidig kick off? btw, bmitch, I'm in DG too.
16. B2B: Check yur PMbox. Der
17. I don't know what happen to madbar. Sorry. Starchild, I'm beginning to think that there's a very small portion of the clubbing community here in Chicago that are regulars AND appreciate the music as it progresses here. The majority (like the tourists and stereotypical suburbanites) is what earns the clubs money and I don't think they're all that ready for progression. There is a big trance following in Chicago thanks to the PURE promotions. Other clubs are having trance nights too so I see it getting more popular. In addition, there are people that say progressive trance and progressive house are synonymous. Personally, I still haven't got an opinion on that. I avoid arguing labels. There's also a following for the "true" techno (Detroit style) but it's not as big. I think people here are getting into that "euro" flavor to the music and getting away from the urban pop, soul, r&b sound that's saturated the national music scene. That may be a part of the reason you're not hearing more of the "house" that you're looking for. As far as I can tell on the rave scene, it's big on D&B and when those kids start clubbing, there's no telling how that's gonna change Chicago music. They may still be the minority to the tourists but I'm hoping that they will bring more of an appreciation for breaks and tribal. I just had my first taste of tribal recently but maybe with that ethnic feel to it, maybe it will bring a chance for dance music here to come back around to that sound you're looking for and at most, do something groundbreaking. btw, what's a "hoover?" B-2-B: I'm waiting for PURE to bring a breaks night. Angelist in Crobar Mez fits about 1/3rd of her sets with breaks on Sat's. Pretty good selections too, no lyrics or "ol skool" vocals. She still has a ways to go when it comes to DJ'ing them in with her trance selections but she's my friend so I'm pushin her.
18. P-Poppin, it was good to meet you last Sat. Hope to hang and party w/ you again. (I didn know where else to put that)

21. dude, Happy Birthday
22. redno5 or crobar. whatever happens that weekend, that'll be my plug. Zentra's starting to get some good talent too. der [This message has been edited by der (edited 04-11-2001).]
23. You know, I was gonna say something like tommy said. There's gonna be conflict whenever there's judgement passed on a stereotype that hasn't been clearly defined. What the hell is a clubkid or underground person? I'm just a regular guy. Whatever is bad for promoters anyway? There's no way in shit you can have a perfect crowd and there's no way you can aim your advertising so it misses all the people you don't want at your events. It just sounds like people are looking to place blame on a certain crowd for bad things happening in the electronic music scene.
24. Mrs Der and I may not be able to make it to the preparty but we'll definitely be at crobar later in the evening. Kim will know what I'll be wearing. I should be easily identifiable. Der
25. hey folks, My plug is for Crobar that night cuz it's gonna be an ALOHA hype night with all my clubbing friends and the cro-board junkies. It'll be Psychobitch and Teri on the main floor with Dano and Tracy (Angelist) in the mezzanine. B2B and wombat, you would love hearing Tracy spin, she's been putting in a lot more breaks into her sets lately. I barely left the mez on my last visit.. Guestlist is available on their site too: www.crobarnightclub.com Der
