  1. hmm... tenaglia every week at vinyl or J.V. one-time-only at Philly? I think Philly's got my vote for the 17th.
  2. Went to Vinyl for the first time a few weeks ago. Definitely a good time. Being from Philly, it vaguely reminded me of Synergy Thursdays at Shampoo with Matt Kling (recently discontinued) - a deep/funky house groove. I'm a big proponent for getting the drugs out of clubs. That is the ammo that the cities are using to close down some of the best places. If you can't enjoy yourself without chemicals, go see a shrink.
  3. Short-term pain... long-term gain. Remember, the market always bounces back. I would at least look at Roth IRAs if you are young.
  4. I wear an $80 Fossil watch, and I don't hear any women complaining. If you are under 25 and spending $5,000 on a rolex your priorities are out of wack... INVEST that money. Retire early.
  5. Thanks. I also found a remix by Mr. B. and Teresa Marie that is good. Neither the Airheadz nor the Eddie Baez remixes were what I was looking for... I'll just ask the DJ the next time I hear it.
  6. It's a remix of phil collins "in the air tonight" that they've been playing lately... not much more information I can give. List all the remixes you know of... thanks.
  7. haha... magilicuti... it isn't a muscle pic post - it is a STYLE post. Good to see elitefitness heads on clubplanet, though.
  8. Don't listen to highmay... it really all depends on what scene you are into. If you like the progressive stuff, you'll like Shampoo. If you're into breakbeats or some of the more eclectic stuff you won't like Shampoo. Personally, I enjoy so many scenes that I think Shampoo is ace even on Sundays (even though it IS an 17 and over event).
  9. Oh yeah... I know... I've been clubbing in philly for a number of years now. It's a shame, but let the masses have their "club" experience.
  10. Might be tough to find a mixed hip-hop crowd unless you go to the hip-hop room of a normal club (Shampoo has a room called the velvet lounge that tends to play "real" hip-hop). I'd check out Adrenaline (formerly Babylon), but that is NOT a mixed crowd for the most part. I'm not sure if "La Gran Manzana" is still open, but that was a hip-hop club next to Babylon. As far as alternative music goes. Your best bet is probably Chemistry (in Manayunk) or Maui/Cobalt (Delaware Ave.), or something of the like. It isn't straight Top 40, but it is remixed Top 40 for the most part, and they mix some of the more popular Hip-Hop in there. Personally, I avoid these places like the plague because they attract the usual "fratty" crowd, but whatever your scene is that's cool. I know there are a ton of other hip-hop/reggae clubs in philly, but I haven't been to them, so maybe someone else can add to this post.
  11. Has anyone noticed that over 21 nights at Egypt are just f'ing scary? I see 40-50 year old people on the dancefloor and the place never gets filled to capacity like on Wednesday nights. I know Egypt tends to suck most if not all of the time anyway, but I never had a worse time at Egypt than I did last Saturday.
  12. I've been to proto lounge, lucy's, cuba libre, and a few others (basically old city). What are some others, and why are they worth going to? I'll be back home (south jersey) in about 2 weeks, so I want to hit up some places that I haven't been to in awhile (or ever). Of course, I'll be making a weekly appearance at shampoo. And if only more people would go to Chrome, I'd hit that up more often too. Damn you people... that place has some great music. Unfortunately, the freaks tend to kill the vibe there at times (kinda like motion on any night )
  13. Or Matrix (formerly The Milkbar) in Cherry Hill... pfft, hahaha
  14. Chrome is empty three-quarters of the time. It's a shame because I think they have a good sound and decor. I'd at least check it out, it is the closest thing to NYC superclubs in Philly (from what I've seen).
  15. Take a shower! It doesn't have to rob the sexual energy if you do it together... and it is a good prelude (foreplay) to sex.
  16. If it is so good for girls... how come guys tend to want it more? If I was a girl and could have multiple orgasms for long periods of time I (and most guys) would be total nymphos.
  17. BPM Studio 4 Pro Essentially everything you need to be a pro dj on your computer.
  18. Biosilk's Rock Hard Gelee by Farouk Washes out extremely easy, and it keeps my hair spiked all day (very strong stuff).
  19. Oh... miss NYC doesn't think us lowly philly heads know how to have a good time. Well then... you can continue to holla down to delaware ave - thinking the whole time that that is all that philly has to offer.
  20. Anyone been clubbin' there? How does it compare with US (NYC/Philly/DC scene in particular)? What clubs are good?
  21. Hmm... I don't know. A lot of guys might answer your questions in a 'gay' manner because they think girls are into sensitive guys like that. It may just be a ploy to get the girl more interested in him. I've seen it done, and it isn't pretty, but I've seen it work. I would just ask him out front in the proper context. Like if you are alone and want to make out - just ask him, "You are straight, right?" If he says yes, then you are good to go. If he says no or has to think about it then you know, and you can just follow up with, something about how it doesn't matter to you, but that you have feelings for him, etc., etc. Btw, girls listen up. Just because a guy doesn't make the first move on you doesn't mean he is gay. It usually means that he wants to make you feel comfortable, and let you direct what does and does not happen. Either that, or he is afraid that you don't like him sexually, and all it takes is one direct action by you to eliminate that fear.
  22. Evolution? Only on a VERY good night, with a good line up. Evolution caters mainly to the college students because you can get in for free with a college ID on certain nights. The few times that I went there the DJ spinning train wrecked a couple of sets. It was bad. I would suggest Shampoo (progressive house and trance - good-looking people), Babylon (most similar to the NYC scene), and Motion (if you are into the raver scene).
