  1. I think she's asking whether or not the venue dictates what kind of music you spin. That's great that you've been playing since you were 13, but I can't see you getting many gigs down here if a promoter wants a certain type of music and vibe to their party and you say "No one tells me what to spin, I play what I like".
  2. "Non-goths" whatever, man. Shit, I saw you last week at Downtime bustin the eyeliner and fishnets. You're so goth your dog barks "Bauhaus". Hehe
  3. I've notice they're a little more strict down here. It was way more lenient for me when I lived in Boston and could build a set from acid breaks to hard house to progressive trance or whatever. But down here the manager of the place I play at will tell me at the end of the night that my stuff was too hard, or make it more trancey next week, or lay off the breaks, etc. It's kind of annoying, but I guess there's just a certain vibe he wants in his place so I gotta play what he wants if I wanna get paid.
  4. You shouldn't avoid the party because there are going to be goths there. If you're not gonna go, say it's because of the unreasonable admission price which I see some of you mentioned. The goths aren't gonna crowd the dancefloor when Scott Project goes on, they're gonna stay in their rooms where they know the DJs and can dance to 'their' music. If any people from that scene are gonna come dance to Scott Project, it's gonna be the cyber-industrial kids who enjoy his music since a good amount of them are ex-ravers. But yeah, the price is a bit much. Even if I wasn't DJing at another joint Friday I still wouldn't hit up this party.
  5. So you like the long haired guys, huh?
  6. Yeah, that's seriously me.
  7. i thought only redneck whiteys watched pro wrestling
  8. I checked out your site... very nice;) One suggestion, though. It might be better for people if you optimized your pics for the web. The file sizes are kinda big and it takes a while for them to all appear. But other than that you look great.
  9. This is a pic of me from 2 years ago when we were doing a band photo shoot in Boston. My hair is longer now.
  10. LTJ produces atmospheric jungle, the kind of shit that puts you to sleep. I don't know what he plays live because I would never go see him, but he produces jungle. Dieselboy plays drum-n-bass. That's why his one of his cds is called 'drum and bass selection'. He plays the harder tech-step style of drum-n-bass that's better suited for a party than Bukem's crap.
  11. Unbelievable how one of the few people that still likes her is named DeeJayGay. Well, I guess that's really not all that unbelievable.
  12. Yeah, everyone was trying to out-evil each other to the point where it just got ridiculous. And like with any scene, once it started there was a shitload of wannabes and followers that just ruined it. Especially in this scene since it seemed like people believed that they needed to burn a church or commit murder to gain respect. Like that girl that tried burning down Therion's house because she was a fan of Burzum, and Therion wasn't 'true' black metal. I wonder what a Real World show would be like if they filmed one in Scandanavia.
  13. Umm, I think they're doing another fetish night there. This is the email I got today: Lioke Entertainment presents... 14. It's pathetic that most of the founding fathers of that scene are either dead or in prison. And yeah, the picture of the singer for Mayhem after he blew his brains out is priceless.
  15. For drums, check out a freeware program called DrumSynth. It's an additive drum synthesizer that really lets you shape your sounds in many different ways if you know the basics of sound designing. It doesn't have a sequencer, though, so you need to sample the drum sounds you create. For more synth sounds, check out TS-404 by AnalogX. It's another freeware program that you can do a little sound designing with also. Those 2 are both freeware and I think you can get them from http://hitsquad.com under the software synthesizer section. Reason is also a great program, but you'll have to find a cracked version of that if you're trying not to spend any money. http://astalavista.box.sk
  16. Lords of Chaos It's a history of the Norwegian black metal scene and all of the crazy fucks it produced.
  17. It's almost as amusing reading everyone's reaction as watching the actual animation. I for one, look forward to a time when Margaret Thatcher can destroy flying fish with her laser beam eyes while a giant rabbit jumps around a burning Parliament. But then, that's just me.
  18. Acid music is usually defined by the tb-303 synthesizer riffs although people use rebirth and novation also which sounds close to the 303. For tribal, check out dog6's post at http://bbs.clubplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54031
  19. Victor Calderone plays tribal, LTJ Bukem plays jungle, and Dieselboy plays drum-n-bass. Jungle and drum-n-bass are more closely related and are faster than tribal. 42records is releasing a 4 disc compilation cd in September called "Definitive". Each cd will focus on a different genre of electronic music and feature an artist that defines that style. One cd is going to focus on 4-to-the-floor type genres such as techno, house, trance, gabber, etc. One cd will focus on breaks, jungle, d-n-b, etc. One will focus on trip-hop, ambient, etc. And one will focus on industrial, experimental, soundscape, etc. They'll also be putting info on their site that will give a history and description for each style to give people a better idea of the different types of electronic music. I think the release date is set for Sept 15, but contact http://raw42.com for more info.
  20. They had a little article on it in The Register at http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/28/20995.html The article has a brief little description of this madness and some history on the concept.
  21. That place is closed. La Nouvelle Justine is the only s/m restaurant now.
  22. Ditto. 24 here, too, wishin I was younger already.
