  1. It's funny that you mention LED wall. If LED walls are used improperly, they can take away from the entire show. ALA Main stage ULTRA4. 3 large LED walls were great but they took away from the lighting and the YAG laser that was onstage because they were to bright. There was no balance. If you look at all of the flyers that led up to ULTRA4, you saw the main stage from ULTRA3 (my lighting design). The lighting was intense. There was about 4 or 5 different shots that were on flyers for ULTRA4 and all of them showed a stage that was goin off. This goes back to what I said earlier, DESIGN, DESIGN, DESIGN, DESIGN!!!! There are so many people in this town that underbid and give the boat away, just to do the install or the show, and don't know anything about design. But I guess as long as clubowners and promoters keep falling for the "cheap deal", we'll see the same things over and over and over.
  2. Having a Visualiser is great but there's alot of features with HOG PC that I'd rather have. There's so many guys wrapped up in this LightJockey thing that don't really know how to program. Flashing lights to the beat of the music isn't programming. Altering the atmosphere and creating mind-blowing effects is programming. I programmed and operated at show at some fairgrounds in Opa-Loka, for the guys that used to run Malibu a while back and people still talk about that show. I used a Status Cue console and totally rocked that show, along with several other shows. The point I'm getting at is you guys are calling Club Lighting guys Lighting Directors when every club in town has a lighting system that's inadaquate. This just goes to show what impression the Miami nightclub market has on it's patrons. What needs to happen is a club opening up in Miami that's going to give everyone who attends, a show. A show of Audio, Lighting, Video, Lasers and killer DJ's or live PA's that all work together. That's yet to be seen in South Florida. The only way to get this combination is in the big one off parties.
  3. NOT WORTH IT???? What's that supposed to mean? LightJockey does nothing for the REAL LD'S. LightJockey is just a Florida thing because all you guys are scared to learn the HOG software. You can't learn the HOG software in one week. Hell I've been using the Hog for 3 years now and I'm still learning it. Patching a Hog is a piece of cake. See these are the things that I'm talking about. LightJockey doesn't get a PROGRAMMER ready for the world of DMX, which all REAL LD'S MUST KNOW. Oh yeah one more thing. The HOG software has BPM for all chase modes. So where do you get this, not on beat with the music stuff? I guess I'll have to show all you rookies what real lighting is all about.
  4. The only reason that HOG PC is ignored by clubs down here is because club lighting operators are to lazy to learn the HOG software. Yes it is complex but at the same time it's also very easy to use. The HOG PC software blows the LightJockey away if we're talking about creative programming. Now if you just want a guy to sit in the booth and flash lights in yer face all night, on a cheap controller, then yeah LightJockey is great. As far as telling what type of fixtures/programming would I employ, that's what I get paid to do. PS. Hog PC is a free download, http://www.flyingpig.com/support/hog2/downloads/
  5. I think before we get to far into this conversation, you need to go to the High End website, http://www.highend.com, and research what the HOG PC is and what it can do. I started my lighting career in nightclubs. I'm not just talking shit here. Most of the time I didn't have the shit that these guys have nowadays to work with and now I'm doing show with 300+ fixtures. The point is, most of these don't take the inititive to get better or make the lighting system as interesting as the music being played. I can see where NexusGroove is right about some things. I've been in Space a few times where the lights were strobing green and blue for the entire time I was there. As a matter of fact, the MAC 250's in there do have gobos in them but you'd never know it. But then again, maybe the person running the lighting is under the direction on OmniStage. Which is another story in itself!!
  6. DESIGN, DESIGN, DESIGN, DESIGN, DESIGN Where is it? All I see is a bunch of clubs getting the great deal from Martin, PERIOD!!! When FACADE closed down, the best club lighting system in Miami closed with it and there hasn't been anything to rival that system since. Why? To many clubowners want the killer deal and not the killer DESIGN. Club lighting is more that FLASH AND TRASH. I see you guys talking about Lighting Directors. Come on. Clubs in Miami don't have Lighting Directors. All of these guys are buttom pushers. PERIOD!! But hey, what do I know. I've only been in the lighting business for 15 years. PS. The Light Jockey is for the Minor Leagues. One day all of these guys will grow up and strat using HOG PC so they can then go on and use the HOG 3 and make real money doing real projects.

  9. I gotta admit that this place is awesome. Nice small neighborhood bar with a smoking sound system. (Yup Infinite did it) I was there for the opening last Friday and was surrounded by hot women. It was a beautiful thing. The music format is similar to the old Union Bar and Rebar. You'll go from Frank Sinatra to Busta Rhymes to Metallica. Everyone was having great conversation while still hearing slamming tunes. The food is killer. I'd suggest the Shrimp, Chicken Fingers, Steak Sandwich and the fresh cut fries. The Martini list is also great. I think they serve about 20 different Martini's. I'd suggest that everyone go check the place out before you hit the big clubs. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Oh yeah one more thing. Did I mention all the hot women? Especially the one's that work there?
  10. What I said was I'll take any of my NEXO audio designs and go up against any system that's not NEXO and bury it. What kills me is that so many people think that NYC has the best nightclub systems and that's a crock of shit. The NEXO Alpha E system at Exile is killer. It's so powerful that they have to be careful not to shake the structure of the building due to how low the bass goes. Believe me when I tell you. NYC ain't the only place that has smoking sound systems.
  11. Well I'll tell you one thing. NEXO Alpha sounds a helluva lot better than that PHAZON crap. If you don't believe me, I'm down to do a sound system shootout with any sound company, any day of the week.
  12. Hey give me your opinion on a FREE festival in Miami. Let's say 6 KILLER stages with 8 DJ's/Acts on each stage. All heavy hitters Start time 12pm, closing at 1am. Sorta on the same way DEMF does in Detroit. They make a whole weekend out of it with other parties going on in neighborhood clubs. So just think of other parties going on at Space, Exile and maybe a few new clubs popping up downtown. Tell me what you think.

  16. Hey Spacious. This sounds like the way Eric Morillo and his arena got the ax at ULTRA3. Remember?? I guess it is all about the dough huh? FC
  17. Yea I guess I wouldn't know anything about ULTRA since I built it for the first 3 years of it's existance. You're right. My bad!!
  18. It's so funny how some people can sit on the computer and talk shit about a group of people who are trying to bring something great to South Florida. I can remember when we did ULTRA 1. I heard the same bullshit. "Now way a festival on the beach would work." Let's see, TexasZenFest in the cow pasture will never work. Next thing you know 17,000 kids show up and rock the place. So pretty much the moral of this story is I really don't care what you think about our project. If you dont like it, stay home. We don't need the negative vibes anyway. There are alot of people who are excited about the event and those people will have a great time while you're sitting at home talking shit about us.
  19. Besides the number of people who live in each state, your comment is one of the main reasons that California Music Festivals are so much more successful than anywhere in the country. Example, COACHELLA 40,000 strong the past 2 years. When it comes to music, Miami is to segregated. The people who listen to Electronic Music think they're to good to hangout with the hip hoppers. Some of the Hip hoppers won't mix with the rock crowd and some of the rock crowd doesn't like Electronic music or hip hop. But I noticed at ZetaFest last year that things are changing. I think with more and more multi genre events maybe the South Florida music scene can thrive like California.
  20. Per day tickets are $45 and the 3 day pass is $99.
  21. First off, who the hell are you calling our event shit? Obviously our event isn't shit if Ritchie is playing for us and not at any WMC events. Maybe you should let your brain work before you type next time.
