  1. Yeah, the location is Miami. It'll be nice to walk into a club where there isn't any big and bulky EAW boxes. The name of the new system is GEO and it's all new technology that NEXO has been working on for the last 3 years. Nice and small arrays that sound very big. I can't wait!!
  2. Hey Pod. NEXO just released a new audio system that is totally new technology. Guess who's gonna be the first one to install it in a nightclub?? I'll make sure you get the first scoop bro. Coming REAL SOON!!!
  3. Thing is Pod, that crowd has money that's just as green as the "cool crowd." I'm sure their money goes to the bank just like the "trendy's" money does. They don't and can't hangout at all the "Ibiza wannabe's" so someone had the brains to build a club for them to spend their hard earned cash in. Like I stated before, Exile will have their niche and I'm sure they'll bank just as hard as every other club. Don't be surprised if you see another club that opens up Downtown where they cater to a different crowd other than the "thuggish" crowd or the "Cosmo-picture in magazines" crowd. This is Miami man. The big melting pot. Everyone has to have some place to go where they feel comfortable. Last I checked every Puffy Party is drenched in "Cris". That shit ain't cheap, ya know??? Terry Mac
  4. Best part of the night is when he plays the tracks that have the Breaks breakdowns. Just wait till next saturday. The bass is gonna freak everybody out!!! Terry Mac
  5. Hybrid would be a great gig. Probably wanna bring in some more audio though. Tell the big cheese to give us a call. Terry Mac
  6. I just wanna chime in here because I just happen to be helping with the changes at LEVEL. I wouldn't say that LEVEL is copying off of SPACE at all. You have to remember that Acosta has his thing going at Shadow Lounge before SPACE even existed. As a matter of fact, one of the owners of SPACE was a regular at Shadow Lounge for a while. I think what you're seeing is Noah and Gerry realizing that they needed to upgrade the club and they did so. Now about the sound system. I know for a fact that the purchase of the EAW Avalon sound system wasn't because SPACE bought one. Recently we've dismantled the existing system at LEVEL and totally redesigned and upgraded the system. You'll find that each section of the main room has it's own system that feeds off of the dancefloor system. After carefully reinstalling the system and making some necessary changes, I will say that the EAW Avalon system at LEVEL is the best Avalon system in South Florida, and I'm not to keen on EAW. Within the next 2 weeks you'll find that the entire club will have incredible audio systems. EAW is marketing the Avalon system as a system that is "designed for Electronic Dance Music." Also the price and deals they were working to launch the EAW Avalon system in Miami was another factor. So pretty much the statement about copying is really inaccurate. Level is doing their thing and SPACE is doing theirs. Terry Mac
  7. I just want to ask you a quick question. If Exile can tap into the "uncool crowd" and pull 2000 heads a night, what makes them a failure? I think some of you think that the 5000 or so people who go to Space, LEVEL, Crobar and a few other trendy lounges are the only people who go to clubs. Personally it would be a breath of fresh air to go to a place a hear some good Reggae, RnB and Latin Music. There is over 1 million people in South Florida. I'm sure Exile will find their niche. Terry Mac
  8. Well the event isn't just about electronic music. Extreme Sports will be showcased to the fullest and there is a HUGE crowd for extreme sports. By showcasing electronic music at an event like this, we'd be exposing the culture to alot of new faces. Also, the younger listeners will get the opportunity to witness DJ's and Live PA's that would normally be at 18+ and 21+ nightclubs and events. Reason for 3 days. This event will be nothing like Lollapallooza. It will be better. We're talking about bridging Electronic Music and Technology together with Extreme Sports and throwing in the nightclub element later in the day. Stay tuned. http://www.shutdownproductions.com
  9. Sorry I didn't fill you in on the rest of the gig. The festival will also be made up of Extreme Sports. BMX coarse, Skate Ramps, Paintball Fields and a few more things. Most of the music would happen later in the day with a big concert on the last day. Get this, one ticket is good for all 3 days.
  10. I just wanted to ask the general clubbing public if there's room for a huge 3 day festival, where the top DJ's in the world can spin 3-4 hour sets? What do you guys think about this?

Looking at most of the new systems that are out there now, those classic installs by Richard Long are considered old technology. The speakers and amplifires that we use today are far superior and are alot smaller and lighter. The old RLA technology was good for the Deep House and Disco of yesterday but the music that is made nowadays just eats those systems alive. At Cyberfest 2000 in Melbourne, Florida we were able to achieve SPL's of 130 at the peak of Prism and Eclipe's Breaks set and the PA wasn't even breathing hard. There were reports of feeling the bass 5 miles away and we never even made the VU meters on the console move. I have no comment on you last statement.

I never said anyone was a goof. I merely stated what really happenned. Also, it's not very hard to get your own night at any club in South Florida. Hey good luck to Drew and Liquid. I wish them much success.

You're absolutely right. My apologies to the board. I just had to vent. Good luck to the owners of Liquid.

Maybe it was my hearing when I asked you where the LighJockey controller was and you said, "it isn't here." The day the lighting fixtures went up, remember Drew??? Also your claim about other contractors having a bad taste in their mouth about myself and Infinite is insane. As a matter of fact, I've seen several of the contractors after the the installation because I was talking about other projects with them. Don't try to fool anyone Drew. You came to me with the problem that you couldn't figure out the fixture profiles for the LightJockey, or did you forget about that too?? In fact, I did everything that I could to help you with the lighting controller situation. If you had problems before the installation, you could've called me at Infinite to resolve these problems. Nevertheless, you took the route of throwing the "Production Coordinator" thing in my face. Quite honestly I was dealing directly with the owners of the club when questions were asked about certain things. There were several mistakes in PRODUCTION PREPERATION that could have been avoided. These mistakes made the time issue a factor with the installation of the lighting. Were these things my fault? No. It's up to the PRODUCTION COORDINATOR to know which contractors need what to accomplish they're jobs. On several occasions you weren't even available to make certain decisions so they were made by someone else because of the time issue to pass inspections, thus making sure the club would be open in time. You can sit here and try to fool everyone if you want Drew. All I know is I voiced my concerns to the owners of the club and I haven't heard any of these "so-called" complaints. Make no mistake, the installation could've gone alot smoother had you taken the time to prepare what you were supposed to handle. This has nothing to do with you personally Drew, but when you jumped in my face and starting yacking about PRODUCTION COORDINATOR bullshit, I got pissed. And I had every right to be pissed. You're supposed to be the HOT SHOT lighting designer. Why did you drop the ball?? Had I not made several crucial decisions on several mistakes, the club wouldn't have passed the fire inspection the next day. Say what you will and do what you must Drew. I'm just telling the real story on what happenned.

It has nothing to do with a war of words. I'm merely clarifying the situation and telling it like it is. Infinite Audio is a licensed contractor that happens to be cleaning up alot of bullshit installations on South Beach. I myself have been doing production and installations for 13 years. I've forgotten more installations and events than Drew has even dreamed of doing. I don't have to prove anything to him or anyone of his caliber. The fact remains that Infinite Audio and myself know what we are doing and we have every manufacturer that we represent to back us up on it. If you think I'm talking shit then keep your eyes open for what's to come in the Miami club scene. You ain't seen or heard shit yet!!!!

First off Pod Infinite is doing nothing underhanded and shifty. I wasn't even supposed to deal with lighting until I was asked to. It seems that the LightJockey, that is so well programmed with all 4 cues, wasn't even in the club when the lighting crew was hanging the lighting fixtures. I even asked that the controller be there so I can give the crew the DMX addresses before they were installed in the rig. This way the person programming wouldn't have to deal with it. But since the LightJockey was customer provided and was supposed to be customer programmed, I didn't feel the need to constantly keep asking for the LightJockey. Now about the "so-called" distorted sound system on opening night. What club were you in??? The only thing that was distorted was the person who claimed to be the "Production Coordinator" of Liquid. This person didn't even know who was supposed to pull wire to where, thus causing the Master Electrician to pull out all of the wires for the Liquid Nitrogen system on the night before opening. It seems that all of the contractors were on the same page but the "Production Coordinator" was no where to be found when these problems surfaced. More on the lighting. To my understanding, the "Production Coordinator" was supposed to handle all programming and the LightJockey was supposed to be "READILY AVAILABLE" to the installers, along with all information requiring addressing. It seems that the "Production Coordinator" didn't have the proper information loaded into the computer thus causing a delay in hooking up the LightJockey to the lighting rig after all of the electrical was done to the lighting rig. I even took time to sit down with the "Production Coordinator" to help him with the missing information because he seems to be lost. Had I know he was having this trouble before the installation, I would have had a few people from Martin Professional, the company that makes the LightJockey, get me the proper information that was needed. But you're right about one thing, the lighting system looks good. It's just a shame that when I stopped by on Wednesday night, all I saw was 3-4 cues running over and over with there being a LIVE OPERATOR in the booth running it. Back to sound. POD, for 3 weeks I personally tested the PA design that's in Liquid, in the Infinite showroom. I even went over all of the data that I recorded with the NEXO factory in France. The current system in Liquid wasn't the original spec. There were a few things added. I have been using and testing NEXO audio system for 2 years now. In fact, I was the first person to bring a NEXO rig to South Florida, ULTRA 2000, March 2000. I've had more contact with the main NEXO users in the UK and Europe than anyone in the United States. I've used NEXO Alpha systems in arenas, outdoor shows, indoor athletic facilities, nightclubs, hotel ballrooms etc....... When it comes to NEXO audio systems I know for a fact that I know what I'm talking about. In closing I'd like to say that I just hope that more people show up to Liquid. It's quite a shame that a new nightclub has only 200 people at it's grand opening and 50 on it's opening weekday parties. Keep in mind that the owners of Liquid are great and have been very helpful through the installation process of their lighting and audio systems. Also I'd like to give you a little leson on what a real Production Coodinator is all about. A Production Coordinator is supposed to know every facet of production whether is lighting, sound, video, lasers or wherever it applies to the certain project. Quite honestly I've been hired to manage and design a few projects in the "Production Coodinator" role. I think of a nightclub as one stage. Most project that I manage are 5-7 stages. When given the role of Production Coordinator, that means that you are responsible for EVERYTHING that has to do with Production. The Production Coordinator has to make sure that everything is 100% CLEAR to all contractors or vendors for any given project. This was a major problem in the installation of the Liquid nightclub. Did it have to do with inexperienced contractors?? Not at all. In fact, Infinite Audio has worked with the contractors that built Liquid on several other projects and will be working with the same crew on future projects. The bottom line is this. Drew can come on this messageboard and say whatever the fuck he wants to say. All I know is I really tried to help the guy do something that I wasn't even supposed to be bothered with. That's the lighting. He showed how unprofessional and inconsiderate he was by raising his voice to me, when in fact I did everything I could to help him. So my message to Drew "Mr.Production Coordinator" is next time if the project is a little to big for you, then step aside and let the pros handle it. PS. You're welcome to call NEXO USA and ask them what I've done for their product.
  17. I'm sure everyone will miss Space if in fact the rumor is true, but there are some new players building clubs in that area. As a matter of fact there is a HUGE project in the works for downtown Miami.

I just want to make sure you got the accurate story about the lighting. It seems that someone was very unprepared with the original lighting controller when the installation crew put up the fixtures. I was there for the opening and 3 days before and things would have run alot smoother if a certain person didn't drop the ball. Otherwise, the installation went rather smoothly.

The lighting and sound rig was designed by Lord Toussaint and yours truly for Infinite Audio. Lighting is Elation and the sound is NEXO Alpha E and Crest power. The sound is super strong and very clear. I think alot of DJ's will talk about that rig for a long time. That is until we build the next mammoth NEXO rig. Stay tuned, there's 2 more on the way.
  20. The building that you are referring to is 34 11th st. That building has serious foundation problems and will be torn down.
  21. Hey Pod, there's going to be a few surprises in the audio department at LEVEL. I'm sure you'll be pleased.
  22. Hold on a minute. You're making it sound like Progressive House is something new. Bruce Wilcox and Chris Fortier were bangin Progressive House like crazy back in 93 - 97. I can remember several copies of good tracks that came in the mail from Underground Music in Orlando. What's funny is now everyone thinks it some new thing when in fact they were missing the boat back when Deep House was prevalent.
  23. Oh you ain't seen nothing yet Pod. We've got several projects in the works that will elevate the Miami club scene to a new plateau. Keep your eyes and ears open!!
  24. You're way off base. You're making it sound like George is going from club to club and owners are turning him down, when it's quite the opposite. First off there's no club in Miami that can qualify for George's standard in production. I should know because it's my specification. Second, you say he pissed off Padilla. What's that got to do with anything? George is doing his thing. If the crowd supports him more than another DJ then that's not his fault. I was at LEVEL on both occasions when George played and the crowd couldn't get enough of him. That's why he's going to be at LEVEL as a resident. Plain and simple. As I stated before, Edgar and Oscar are great but Acosta commands the crowd wherever he plays. Your point of missing Acosta is kind of silly. What you don't seem to notice is that the club scene in Miami has expanded and more and more international DJ's are coming her to play and that's good. But to come on here and say George Acosta is fading is insane. I've known both Padilla and Acosta for over 10 years and they're styles are totally different. Padilla has always played hard while Acosta's style has always been to take the crowd on a journey. They're both great DJ's and it's so stupid to think that there is some kind of feud between them. Or are you just trying to start shit on the forum?? And to answer your question about what festivals have I created, I produced the electronic music stage at ZetaFest 2000 and 2001 and I am the Production Coodinator for ULTRA, not to mention putting together Cyberfest FLA and Texas Zen.
  25. Not taking anything away from Edgar - Oscar - Ivano but the way Acosta controls the crowd is immense. I've seen him do the same thing in Texas for 14,000 people. George doesn't play in Miami that much because his touring schedule is intense. After hearing the very positive reviews from Tampa and Atlanta alone, I'd say the Acosta is still very much alive and kicking. Maybe you're just to caught up in the Miami "I'm a clubkid" thing. Miami's scene is good but there's definitely room for improvement and it coming. VERY SOON!!!
