    What: Marathon Terrace Set 5am-Close

    When: This Sunday Morn' (Feb.28)

    Where: Space Terrace

Why:a preview of what to expect this Conference, some surprises & a wad of cool sh_t to take home from us as a Thank you to you!

What else: over 30 Roland Marathon t-shirts to hand out on Sunday morn' along with a bunch of live Roland CDs. If you're there then chances are you'll get some!

ps. No Cover Tv will be there, so I'm gonna try & behave so Mom doesn't see me act up on TV.

See u bright & early on The Space Terrace! ;)

  2. Here's the deal..

The earliest you can pick up your pass is Thursday, March 4th @ the Space office. If you are picking up a pass for a friend, you must present the confirmation slip & a written document signed by the buyer stating you have authorization to do so.

If you are picking up your ticket the nite of the event, Space will have a will-call booth located directly across the street for your convienience.

3 Day pass holders will have a separate courtesy entrance which ensures a speedy entry. There you have it.. Now go get your pass... ;)

Also, there were separate lines for pass/non-pass holders. The line for pass holders was almost nonexistent last year. I don't think I waited for more than a few minutes each night I was there.

Its also a nice little souvenir. I got PvD to sign mine last year :)

I didn't take the time to go thru the rest of the thread that tony posted, but I can tell you this..

Last year everyone who bought a pass got in. If some experienced a bit of a wait at times, it was because the fire marshall was up our ass last year due to the fast track opening that Space 34 had. We were a new club last year on such a high volume week & the marshalls were aware of that.

The first time we used the building was the night of DT, which was the kick off party of conference and we were delayed 2 hours past our original scheduled time of 10pm. The other night which was madness & the door was held @ 5am, was the saturday of Ultra. Other than that, every other night was smooth & if you had your pass you used the Passport line with almost no line/no wait...

There were very few people who had a bad experience. If they did, it was prob at 5am the saturday of Deep Dish (Ultra afterparty) when the place was up to capacity. If anyone learned anything, it was DO NOT show up @ 5am the day of Ultra & expect a cake walk up the front door. It's without a doubt our busiest night & the busiest hour!

Aside from the will call line, I myself had certain people contact me about pickin' up the passes thru me personally so they didn't have to deal with the will call. I did the same for vip tables.

so don't stress it, get your pass & enjoy!

  4. I have soo many memories of Mars Bar. Back when I was about 18+ I probably had the best times there & the Edge as well. Every saturday night me & my 4 high school pals would pack into my buddy's Nissan & head over to the place. We'd also occasionally go on thursday nites when it was 21 for guys, but only when our buddy security guard worked the front door to hook us up.

There's a quick stop across from Town & Country Mall that we'd make a pit stop b4 hand & have the oldest one of us buy a few six packs of beer & a pack of cloves & or swisher sweets (We swore those things gave us a high & till this day they probably still do). The beer of choice for our crew then was Bud Ice. If we were runnin' low on $$ we'd pick up a 32 ounce of Miller High Life or St. Ides malted brew .

Before we discovered Mars Bar, we remained loyal to the edge. Although none of us were from lauderdale, we made the trip up there every saturday & practiced the same routine at the local gas station/7eleven just b4 the railroad & Edge parking lot. Just the other week, when Oscar played @ Voodoo, I made a pit stop there b4 hand & it brought back memories of back in the day.

Since most of us weren't old enuff to drink yet, we'd buy beer @ the local gas station near a club & chug it down b4 making our way in. Throughout the nite we'd make our way back to the car for reserves of warm beer to keep us "buzzzin", the occasional piss in the bush & a possible "scam" in the car. God those were the days! :)

The music: Alternative, electronic, industrial & what some of us refer to as Retro now. Stuff like "Love & Rockets", "The Smiths", "The Cure", "Depheche mode", "New Order", "Duran Duran", & tons of other stuff like "Josh Wink", "Chemical Bros", NIN, Rage, Nirvana, etc. etc...

The Edge was gritty, big, but yet still coozy & full of people with two things in mind... Music & Fun! On a good nite, I'd loose myself in the pit-type dancefloor (kinda like the old space terrace dance floor, only a bit deeper) & forget about everyone else around me. It felt like I was in my own lil' world at times. The vibe was sick! Think of the old space times 5. Bruce wilcox & Stryke were 2 of the djs responsible for makin' magic in that place...

Mars Bar was similar but all different at the same time. More on the alternative, industrial tip & much much smaller though. It had that dark S&M feel & the chicks were outragous while at the same time funlovin', approachable & Wild, just the way I like them ;) . Mars Bar had these cages where chicks would climb into & go at it with each other. Most of the time it was the club dancers & other times it was clubbers. I remember the outter-space lookin' bugs that hung from the roof & the surf board you test your balance thing they had for sometime, but the thing broke & they eventually took it out. Damn thing only lasted for about 2 months. I remember that place like it was yesterday!

Good times... Thanks for givin' me a flashback Funk! :aright:

  5. I watch Conan every nite... luv the show! His show doesn't ever seem to be puttin' on a front. They just go with it. There's no sittin' on the fence about it. You either like it, or not!

    to me, Conan rocks!

actually, I'm thinkin' of the Jim Rome days when he was attacked by Jim Everrett.. Remember that show??

He called Jim, "Cris".. as in Cris Everett (woman tennis player).

  7. Saleen always makes for interesting reading. Whether or not you agree with the situation it matters not.

Good job on the review! Although it almost dragged @ one point, it kept me wanting to know more about the next paragraph.

Is it me, or is Saleen the Jim Rome of club reviews?? ;)
