The reason perhaps that the crowd starts leaving a little to early is, that the roxy seems to be more of a social scene and more of a bar scene as opposed to a drug scene. At 4am when liquor is no longer served, just soda, juice or hype drinks the vibe might change and reality sets in. don't forget, there are early admission incentives for people so those persons who got there say between 11 and 12:30 will have been drinking for a good 3 to 5 hours before liquor is no longer served. All good afterhour parties start going after 3am..ususally there's nobody in between 11 and 1am even 2am.By 2am the roxy is crowded..perhaps its a trade off because from what most people say the roxy has overall a very good looking crowd that prefers perhaps more of a social and drinking scene.. The roxy being in business for over 18 years, has a good relationship with the police. This is the way the ownership wants this party to be, not they are unaware of the drug scene but especially after twilo and tunnel closed they will not take any chances with looking the other way.

marco v is not with P.A.M. from what I know but I'm sure he's great so I'll remeber his name and look out for him. Calls have been made for some very distinguished and renowned people..The responce from the management companys has been nothing but favorable..its just a matter of their schedules.

With the ROXY open also on friday featuring the return of JOHNNY VICIOUS, everyone is invited in tonight, july 3rd for only $10.00 before midnight. The amazing a/c at THE ROXY will help cool you off from the 100 degree tempurature predicted. ROXY CLUB PLANET VIP CARDS will be honored tonight. There's also going to be an AUSTIN POWERS "GOLDMEMBER" party with tons of giveaways. If you're a little tight for money with all the high priced admissions going on in NY (and its only the beginnig of the july 4th weekend party)check out ROXY tonight..It's a straight up party tonight with good music and a nice looking crowd. If you haven't heard already..DIRTY VEGAS will be performing "days gone by" live at the roxy this friday and because they are also top dj's in london immediately following their show they will spin on four turntables with a percussionist set up on stage. MIKE RIZZO will open up for them. THIS IS THE ONLY NYC NIGHTCLUB THAT DIRTY VEGAS IS PERFORMING AT. Although other clubs have put a bid in for them, THE ROXY is the first club in ny they chose to perform in..doors open at 11pm and showtime is about 2am.

Listen up dj's...we believe sincerly this is a good thing for everyone who dreams of playing music for a crowd. Already club owners have contacted mike rizzo who also think this is a wonderful idea...who knows where this can go. Maybe, hopefully, more and more doors will open for everyone down the road..and more and more clubs will allow talented djs an opportunity to be heard..everyones music will be respected..just be the best you, you can be...there are going to be qualified people honestly listening to your demo cd's..(because of the amount of cd's that will probably be presented is the reason why they've asked for a 30 minute set)...On the night the four dj's will spin (and this is very important) it doesn't matter if your first or last on the night. It doesn't matter if there are 300 or 3000 people in front of you..you will be judged for your set based on the following factors:....CREATIVITY...PROGRAMING...ARRANGEMENT...MIXING SKILLS...The order of the four finalists will most likely be either their names pulled out of a hat or maybe the finalists will themselves pull a number from 1 to 4 out of a hat. Whatever it is, it will be simple and fair. And to all those dj's who weren't picked, it doesn't mean you don't have incredible talent and potential..it just means that in every election, in every contest, and like the movie "ON ANY SUNDAY" one team wins and one team loses. as long as you try...give it your best shot..have fun..there's always tomorrow...I can't begin to tell you, how many dj's over the years I have worked with who today have become top dj's, producers and remixers. . when we get together, we laugh about the days when we did teen nights, college bars, obscure rooms that are gone now, the crazy owner stories and more. . Even though these are hard times we're in because of everything thats going on around us..they're still wonderful and exciting. .If you have a friend who's a dj..encourage him or her to submit a cd..and the ones that are picked to be a finalist..support them all...to those people who constantly assert their identity through negative attention on the board..to those people who use the board as a vehicle to be heard.. maybe this one time you'll give it a rest...you may or may not realize the emotional damage you do by putting something like this down. Perhaps a dj who wants his music to be heard, win or lose, might be to embarrased to enter because of negativity on the board and decides not to submit their cd. ..what a sin to have lost an incredible music opportunity for the future...

HERE'S THE REAL DEAL...roxy is open for everyone..the price of admission is as follows: $15.00 for ladies before midnight every week..(no guest list needed or flyers) $20.00 reduced admission with a flyer, guest list or whatever till 1:30am... general admission is $25.00( if you don't have anything for reduced). There is a party in the back room behind the dj booth that a promoter is promoting. If that promoter is giving the illusion that unless you purchase a ticket from him, you can't get into the roxy..his party will be cancelled. His party is supposed to be for his friends and network only.

The roxy party on saturday is open. This party has been going on for 4 years. Perhaps the reason not to close the night might be based on the fact that they didn't want to lose their crowd perhaps to juniors party at exit. Since the saturday night is established they will remain open during construction. The decision to close fridays, since fridays was still in its infancy, was agreed upon by the owners and promoters so that when fridays open up again, it'll be fresh and new. It makes promotional sense. Let draper come back to exit, let the sf have its day, lets get through finals, lets get through memorial day weekend...use this time to do the research and prepare to come back strong on june 7th with a new and more exciting night. If you were renovationg your house, wouldn't it be better to move out for awhile until it was completed instead of living in it while the renovations were going on. Then when you move back in..everything is new, fresh and exciting. I think it makes sense.

Can an afterhours party work beginning at 4am knowing that DT is at vinyl. What in your opinion would it take to make it successful.

Twilo's system was created for the space of twilo. The engineers and technicians of phazonsound came to the roxy months ago to do the same thing taking into considerstion its size, layout, hard surfaces and whatever else is a factor. A small sample of the new system (about one tenth the actual size)was brought to the roxy a few months ago. It was amazing in its power and clearity. So lets not compare systems, its not a true evaluation. Roxy is two and a half times the size of twilo. It would seem the system would have to be at least two and half times the size of the twilo system or whatever the correct adjustmest is. But with the new state of the art technology today, which is perhaps more efficient then the older technology, the sound will be amazing that I can asure you.

The official date for the reopening of the ROXY is FRIDAY JUNE 7th...a week and a half after Memorial Day ends. Recoup from your vacation, SPREAD THE WORD and GET READY...JUST ADDED FOR THE OPENING NIGHT.. KTU LIVE BROADCAST HOSTED BY VIC LATINO The new digital PHAZON SOUND SYSTEM being custom made for the size of the ROXY will, without a doubt, be the most powerful system ever heard in NY. 3 TIMES THE POWER..3 TIMES THE QUALITY of the previous richard long system. A separate cooled room is being built just to house the amplifiers. In addition, a new light show is being added. The ROXY is also going through renovations to make the room more comfortable, exciting, and more enjoyable for everyone. Since the ROXY closed, we are amazed at how many people have told us how much they missed the ROXY and how much they are looking forward to going back when it reopens. I am also into home theater. I went to every high end place(some you need an appointment to get into) did a lot of research..went to the C.E.S. show in vegas (this show will blow your fucking mind). What worked for me after all the research was a small custom company called OHM. They have developed a technology that is called "a full room sound". That no matter where you sit you will hear every frequency the way it was intended by the artist or movie producer. The sound is so incredible..the base frequency is equal to an 18" base speaker with a base frequency of maybe 16 hz. These speakers are so amazing that the OHM people will give you I believe either a 4 or 6 month trial basis. which means, if after you try these speakers in your home and you don't like them..you get your money back..no questions asked. I love to watch movies and when I crank these baby's up....all I can say is HOLY SHIT...This is only my full range speakers by the way..I also have a 500 watt powered sub base by definative. Together with rear ohm bipolars, an ohm passive sub for the rear speakers and an ohm center. I have a lexicon DC1 as my processer and a cinepro 2000 watt power amp which is about 400 watts per channel. If your going to do it..my opinion start with the speakers for the best sound thats good for you. Its all subjective anyway..its what you like..anyway good luck
