I came across this documentary and found it pretty interesting. Def. good to watch to get an idea about how it all evolved over the years. country: France year: 1996 length: 63 min. MEGAUPLOAD - One-Click Webhosting This documentrary is directed by Dominique Deluze in 1996., covering the scenes in Europe, USA and Japan. The film started with Richard D James wandering in some eerie catacombs, explaining how it feels like home, and eventually almost looked like "Who's Who in Techno", featuring Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Kenny Larkin, Jeff Mills, even Mike Banks (who only agreed to be interviewed with his face covered); from Europe (vastly overrated but for this feature essential, I guess) Sven Väth, Autechre (touring in Barcelona), Mark Bell of (and these days also all of) LFO, Steve Beckett of Warp Records; and from Japan, Ken Ishii.

Its the same system(despite the name of the company that installs it being Phazon Sound Inc. to Integral Sound), just one isnt tuned is all. Thats prob. why ure ears are always ringing. They should just spend an extra few hundred to get a sound guy considering they can afford it. Sucks to have excellent DJs on that system every week and have it sound liek shit.

Thanx for explaining that to ppl who have absolutely no clue about what an opener is supposed to play. I cant stand it when opening Djs try to go all nuts and hardcore before the DJ comes on. If u refuse to play lighter trax as an opener, THEN DONT OPEN and turn down the gig or play as a closer. Last weekend, this DJ at Pacha plays some of the hardest tribal tracks out there at 11:45 PM right before DJ Vibe is supposed to come on. My friends and I were like theres no way Vibes gonna match the level of intensity when he comes on. In fact, that was the case for the first few hours he spun until later on in the morning when he got harder. Whole point for an opener is to set the stage so the Dj headlining will feel comfortable while he begins his set and can take it on his own direction from there. If u bang it out and play stuff that hes not gonna be able to adapt to, yea, ure gonna get noticed by ppl, but the main DJ will look at u like wtf are u doing ?? Its just gonna take away from his set.

Same here. I mean maybe the faster upbeat tracks are a little better, but the slower weird sounding shit annoys me. I will even take Deep House over it. LOL.

Prob. not a residency though. Maybe just a few gigs every so often. He is still gonna do gigs at Spirit and Crobar im sure.
