  1. In that case, I'll be seeing you all night Sunday... Not like you have anything better to do Monday morning
  2. Now let's just see if Carmelo comes back for a repeat.... Actually, he seriously might. If he leaves this year, he'll be the #3 draft pick, but if he waits for another year, he has a good shot at being #1....
  3. Biden is the devil incarnate.... People, please take this seriously. If it passes, it could seriously threaten nightlife as we know it....
  4. There goes JP again, mixing the Dixie Chicks and proving once again that he's a liberal commie bastard. Everyone knows the Dixie Chicks are Anti-American and deserve to be burned in effigy, yet this commie red crackpot liberal has to go on playing their music.
  5. From a reliable source, I heard a rumor that every DJ who is scheduled to play at Exit ever again has cancelled, and Exit is having this big coverup, telling people they'll be there. Instead, they'll be playing a rotation of the hottest new CDs, such as DJ Sammy's Ministry of Sound comiplation, and Louie DeVito's NYC Underground Party Volume 3. The people working at Exit are not to be trusted: they know of this nefarious plot and are all in on it. The next time Bugout or Jon Stephen says they're playing at Exit, DON'T BELIEVE THEM! They're lying too! It's all part of the plot! Further rumors I've heard: The door check policy there isn't actually to look for drugs; rather, it's so the bouncers can feel up your crotch. Why would they want to keep the drugs out anyway? The drinks there are not actually made with alcohol at all. In reality, they're charging $7 a pop for alcohol flavored water. Tony Draper will in fact be coming back to Exit. He'll be putting the afforementioned hot new CDs into the changers. Hope you all appreciate the info. Like I said before, it's all from a reliable source.
  6. Quality is quality, and I really don't give a rats ass where they're from... That said, for the genres I listen to, more of the quality DJs tend to be overseas (UK or Australia), simply because they have access to better tracks sooner than do the people over here. The A-List DJs for a genre are the ones who get all the CDJ promos and acetates for stuff, so they'll have the top tracks months before they ever are even available to most of the local folks. For that reason, there's often more of an incentive to see international DJs. Of course, some of the DJs around here are considered near the top in their areas, so they have just as good of a selection as anyone overseas (i.e. Danny T, Erick Morillo, Junior Sanchez), and then it really becomes only an issue of who's better. BTW, of course Tiesto is overrated. He's rated at #1, and since this business is so subjective, nobody can really end up being number 1 musically.
  7. Scariest movies....scary in different ways though Requiem for a Dream (not a horror, or even a suspense, but damn scary) The Omen Se7en Suspiria Emerald Jungle aka Eaten Alive Village of the Damned (the original) Night of the Living Dead Repulsion
  8. Hope there's something good, like when they had Reprazent + Asian Dub Foundation, or Lamb + Gilles Peterson a few summers back...
  9. Marci, you ruined the surprise! I was gonna debut my mix of that on Sunday!!! King Missile - Detachable Penis (Brickhouse's Detached and Now He Can't Find the Damn Thing Mix)
  10. Yup....Metromix rocks like that:D Besides, I'm sure they all vote after they hear my mixes
  11. Argh....everytime I see a thread entitled "what tracks can't you get out of your head", I immediately get the same fucking song stuck in my head: Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out of My Head (Soulwax Mix)
  12. Chuck Lamar seriously needs to get fired.... However, I think the plan is that with the money they saved this year, they'll make another free agent push next year once Crawford, Kennedy, Baldelli, Upton, McClung, and Brazelton get some more experience. If the young players end up being as good as some people think they'll be, the'll be out of the cellar by next year and maybe actually sign a few guys...
  13. AL East - Yanks (as much as I hate to admit it) AL Central - White Sox AL West - A's (Angels pitching staff is looking weaker this year) Wild Card - Twins NL East - Phillies NL Central - Astros NL West - Dodgers (The Giants ransomed off their best pitchers + lost Kent, D'Backs are just really old.....going to look like the late 90's Orioles pretty soon) Wild Card - Cubs World series: As vs. Phils....Phils win in 7 after several pitching duels NL Awards: MVP - Bonds (again...barely edging out Shawn Green) Cy Young - Roy Oswalt (edging out Kevin Millwood) Rookie - Xavier Nady AL Awards: MVP - Magglio Ordonez Cy Young - Barry Zito Rookie - Rocco Baldelli Race to watch will be the NL Central.....As many as 5 teams could seriously end up taking that division, but I don't think Cincinatti will be as good as people make them out to be.
  14. Yeah, and Keoki used to rock Mind over Matter back in the day  Seriously, I con't dig too much....I definately have enough late 90's, early 2k FL breaks to rock out a set that would please those at Empire on a Thursday night
  15. A: Lay off the kid B: Where's the mods?? It's about time to move this shit to drama...
  16. Soulwax seem to work pretty well together.... Danny Harrison + Julian Jonah are also an awesome live team (from sets I've heard) But, personally, the two DJs I'd most like to see playing together would be myself and Freq Nasty
  17. Yeah, Ringu is pretty fucked up.....a lot more ingenious than the American remake in many ways that Americans really wouldn't pick up....all of the symbolism really plays well off of the post-nuclear era fears in Japan, and the way the country developed so fast. The American version really lacks any coherent symbolism...
  18. Gemini's usually pretty bad.... My guess is that it's straight up FL breaks, and you won't hear it too much outside of Tampa and Orlando...I remember hearing Gemini for years, and the scary thing is that he still plays the same tired tracks now that he played 5 years ago (i.e. Stay In Love with Me, Sweet Dreams rmx, etc) That said, best guess to find the track is probably at http://www.paintedpuppy.com. It's a Tampa record store that specializes in FL breaks. Tampa does have a decent base of DJs, but most of them avoid Tampa like the plague. Sure, RITM, Three, Jask, AK1200, Keith Mackenzie, etc are all based out of Tampa, but they rarely even play there anymore, and Three and AK are much bigger elsewhere in the country than they are back home....
  19. Hey.... If anyone here has organized a rave before, I'd like to interview you for my law school A paper concerning the Illicit Drug Anti-Proliferation Act (formerly the RAVE Act). Nothing bed would come out, I just need to establish some stuff (that I already know, but need to get an outside source for) to show that the act isn't even targeting the people it wants to target. PM me if you're interested. Thanks - Dan
  20. Soulwax at Arc Don'rt really get first choice there, but will get to see them this weekend I'd also really like to see Matt Jam Lamont, Laurent Garnier (I'm out of town every time he comes here ergh), Dave Clarke (Ditto), Deekline (who I don't think has ever played NYC), DJ Quest (missed him in New Haven), and Danny Harrison (who's only spun here as Stella Browne, and that's not the incarnation I'd like to see him as). Emma Feline played at the Frying Pan about 2 1/2 years ago.....seen her 3 times now, but she's pretty cookie-cutter when she plays out for the most part.
  21. Basically I KNOW I'm going to see your asses out there.... Worry not, we'll blow you away....
  22. Depending on how you define worst job, it's either as a hair wrapper at a theme park, or as a go-go dancer at a gay bar...
