  1. Try Shindig/Foundation in Newcastle, Sankey's in Manchester, Air/Godskitchen in Birmingham, Fabric in London, Back2Basics/Mint Club in Leeds, among others. Better clubs, imo.
  2. MoS in London, despite being a tourist trap, brings in quality talent on occasion like Erick Morillo, Smokin Jo, Louie Vega etc. It's also got the second best sound system in London. Not my favorite place though. The crowd there is the UK equivalent to the Webster Hall crowd. The club was THE place to go, about 10 years ago, but not anymore mainly due to management going commercial and targetting a a mainstream crowd. I wouldn't assume MoS in London and any club they set up in the states would necessaily be similar.
  3. I'm usually a music snob, but I really like this. Nice work.
  4. Booking tomorrow. Not sure where I'm staying yet. Will take a look at the Hyatt Regency. Have about 8 people going thus far, but of course, some are bound to pull out for various reasons. Lineup for Stereo that weekend is: NYE 2005 Weekend Fri Dec 31st 2004 - Sun Jan 2nd 2005 David Morales Chus & Ceballos (Launch of their 2005 Residency at Stereo) DJ Demi Mark Anthony BiG AL DJ XL Luc Raymond Danny Torrence Set times & Prices will be announced on Friday December 10th 2004...
  5. September 20, 2003. Danny T at Stereo, Montreal. Best set I've ever heard from Danny. His longest set ever up to that night, 19.5 hours. Best sound system I've ever experienced (better than Twilo) and one of the best vibes and crowd I've ever been surrounded by. Perfect night.

  7. Pack your bags girl! I saw Serge last night and convinced some others to head to Montreal. I plan to get there Thursday and leave Monday. It's on!
  8. Erick Morillo is playing in the UK on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
  9. Happy B-day to one of my favorite movers and shakers!
  10. This week alone, we had Carl Cox and Pete Tong at Pacha, Danny Tenaglia at Heaven. Danny Howells at The End, and Tyrant at Fabric. Weeks like that aren't totally out of the ordinary here. I love the New York scene, but I'll have to say I generally enjoy the scene out in London and Europe much better, especially since techno and breaks are a bigger deal here.

    Fabric

The only dress code is that you can't wear a suit (seriously). Other than that, anything goes as far as dress. Some people dress up, some dress down, and you get everything in between. The cover charge is £15. Friday nights are usually breaks and drum n bass night and draws a slightly younger crowd, but better vibe. Saturday nights are mostly tech house and techno (occasionally prog). There are three rooms, usually with a different genre of EDM playing in each room. On a typical night you can hear 10-15 DJs spin. The place holds about 1,500-2000 people. Place usually closes around 5:30AM for Friday night parties, and around 7:00AM for Saturday night parties. Your first time there it's easy to get lost, it has a labyrinth, underground feel to it. It's the best sound system in London. It was custom-designed by Steve Dash. Even in the smaller rooms the sound quality is very good. The main floor is what's called a "Bodysonic" floor, which basically is a setup that generates low frequency vibrations under the floor so you can feel the music. It's one of my favorite clubs in terms of the talent they bring in, the sound and the venue itself. Don't expect good dancing though. December lineups are already up: http://www.fabriclondon.com/club.diary.php If you're into house also check out The End. http://www.endclub.com Or The Cross: http://www.the-cross.co.uk

    Fabric

I'm at Fabric at least a couple of times a month. What do you need to know?
  13. Dude, I just saw him again not too long ago at Fabric. The man is straight up nasty!
  14. Danny not too known outside the USA? Please. In almost every club I've been to in Europe people ask me about Danny when they find out I'm from New York. John Digweed has said Danny is his favorite DJ. Danny is also known for being the DJ's DJ. How many DJs "not too known outside the USA" have done two Global Underground compilations? Danny used to have a heavy travel itinerary a few years ago. He's cut back out of choice, which is why he's dropped on that list. Whatever though, I could care less where Danny is on this list, or any of my other favorites for that matter. This list doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. It's not a gauge of the best DJ out there. It's a gauge of the most recognized/popular DJs out there, which is not necessarily the same thing. Guys like Moshic from Israel and Aldrin from Singapore are phenomenal DJs that would blow the doors off most DJs on that list, but they will never make the Top 100 because they rarely travel outside their respective countries.
  15. I had some severe leg cramps so I decided to bounce. Didn't get to say goodbye to anyone. My body was done.
  16. By the way, great seeing everyone again. You guys made my night. I may be back in New York permanently sometime in late 2005. We'll see.
  17. I found DT's set dull. Baselines were monotonous. I know some people enjoyed the set, but I wasn't feeling it and wasn't feeling the crowd--not much of a vibe there. His set at Cielo was infinitely better. Still had a great time though.
  18. Thanks dude. Nice meeting all you guys. You all (Yourself, Gabe, Brandon, Arg, Kimme, and the Grandmaster, Eliseo lol) can get down and give off a great vibe. Had a blast Sunday. Great music, great people and great vibe. Overall an amazing night.
  19. Combination of both. He opened up with a more upbeat, soulful track selection. At peak time he dropped heavy, filthy basslines that just rocked on that sound system. Quality set. See ya at ________ tonight.
  20. Exactly. Great radio personality, but not a top tier DJ. Even in the UK he isn't well regarded as a DJ. The guy's track selection is dull IMO, which is sad considering the man probably gets promos that few others get. I did hear him play one excellent set the last few times I caught him, but generally he bores me to tears.
