  1. This is true. The drinks are MASSIVE. I might swing by there.
  2. Louie is the bottom of the barrel as far as DJs go, about as talented as a puddle of diarrhea. I'll give it to him, he's a great businessman who's brainwashed the masses to buy his garbage, but he is NOT a DJ. End of story.
  3. I did some work for the government on his federal racketeering case in 2000. He was a douche bag. He's lucky he's gotten off with the little time he has gotten.
  4. I've been there 6-7 times in the past two months. It's still bangin. Just saw Marco Carola there last night. Amazing!
  5. It's a middle eastern restaurant that doubles as a lounge with house music on Wednesdays and Sundays. Sunday nights during the summer is the best time to go IMO; that's when the outdoor terrace is open. They bring in great local talent. It gets very crowded. Wednesday nights are bangin too.
  6. I wasn't at Avalon, but I heard him drop it on Saturday so I'm sure it's the same track. It's the Liebing remix of Seven Nation Army.
  7. I'm from the Dominican Republic and grew up in the South Bronx. As to bdanto, what were you wrong about? Sure, people take sell drugs to make money. But you are implying that that's somehow acceptable because "you would do it too". It's that attitude that holds minorities back and reinforces in their collective minds that there is a glass ceiling beyond which they cannot succeed. It should NEVER be viewed as an acceptable alternative. It also should not be a given that if you fuck up in life you will have the government as a safety net, i.e., welfare, government entitlements etc. Of course there are people who fall on hard times for reasons beyond their control, but the government's role in a capitalist society should be to encourage people to aspire to overcome their hardships, not sustain them with paltry government entitlements so they can continue to live in substandard conditions. That helps no one. Sure we have SOME elements of a welfare state e.g., Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, etc., but America isn't a welfare state in the same vein that many European countries are. Education is the essence of opportunity for anyone not born into wealth. If people choose to forego the free educational opportunities every city in America provides and instead decide to sell drugs or fence stolen televisions, the country should not be there to bail them out. Neither should the government be supporting mothers who repeatedly have children out of wedlock. If you can't afford to have additional children, the solution is simple, don't have unprotected sex. Anyone with common sense and who doesn't have a mental defect knows it's a bad move to have children if you can't afford them.
  8. Will do. And if you're ever in London, I'll do the same.
  9. I'm a minority, was poor, single parent household in one of the worse neighborhoods in America, busted my ass at school, finished college and grad school with loans, and I'm now in the top 5% of income earners. No, I'm not bragging, just making the point that where you end up in life is more often than not about CHOICES people make. Not saying EVERYONE can make it with hard work, but it can be done. This idea that poor people sell drugs because they don't want to be poor espoused by bdanto is such a crock of shit. No one HAS to sell drugs or live a life of crime to get out of poverty. That's the easy way out. How about getting a fucking education and working your way up. That's much harder to do and many of these people don't have the desire to do it, I know first hand because my friends that I grew up with are still working $8 an hour jobs, not because they had to, but because they were fuckups growing up. I'm no one special and I did it. I don't have sympathy for people with no ambition or work ethic, period.
  10. I agree, the end of afterhours is bound to happen if this shit keeps up. Here in London the parties end at 7AM and on rare occasions sometimes later. You don't see people being carried out in ambulances. People handle their shit and have a good time, and G and tina are almost non-existent here. The people that are plaguing the New York club scene with that shit need to be shot. They are ruining it for everyone and it's resulting in people dying. The police aren't able to catch every single person selling or possessing that shit, so who are they gonna go after, the clubs.
  11. Here's a newsflash. Exit and Marvisi have been investigated for years. Just because JP is leasing it, and they changed the name and have a new sound system doesn't mean the evidence they collected all these years goes out the window. It's like saying a serial killer gets a clean slate if he changes his name and gets a new social security number.
  12. The privileges and immunities clause of the 14th Amendment has pretty much been made irrelevant since 1873. Its application is very limited in protecting the rights of federal citizenship such as voting and interstate travel. It's got nothing to do with marriage. As far the equal protection clause, in order for that argument to work, gays would have to be deemed by the Supreme Court a suspect class like blacks, or a quasi-suspect class like women. They are neither, which means that a state can discriminate legally based on sexual orientation as long as it has a rational basis for doing so. "Rational basis" scrutiny is the lowest threshold for discrimination to pass constitutional muster. There's only one case thus far where the court invalidated a statute discriminatory against gays based on equal protection grounds. Certain things would have to happen for gay marriage to be a federally protected right. -The Supreme Court would have to recognize that gays are a suspect class or a quasi-suspect class, OR -The Supreme Court would have to declare that no state could have a rational basis for enacting laws that limit marriage to a union between a man and a woman, OR -The Supreme Court would have to recognize marriage as a fundamental right of gays None of these things are likely to happen given previous court decisions and the makeup of the court, so this will likely be a state-by-state issue for years to come.
  13. Dude I'm gonna see him April in Holland. He's spinning with 6 decks, 4 CD decks, and 10,000 people! Now THAT is a following. Anyone who doesn't go to Cox is mad.
  14. I'm from New York kiddo. I just live in London. It's still shite IMO.
  15. Yeah, she spins that 200bpm crap you need to be tweaking to enjoy.
  16. I'm diggin: Satoshi Tomiie and Hector Romero - Undulation Also, it's from last year, but still something I listen to regularly: James Zabiela - Sound In Motion Not deep, dark, but probably one of the best EDM albums to come out in the past couple of years. This guy is 23 years old, and mark my words, he will be a legend.

  18. Amazing set. Also thought it was the best set I've heard from him. And there was room to dance, unlike Friday, which made for some kick-ass dancing. Vibe and crowd were great.
  19. Most likely between 1-2AM till whenever. See you there!
  20. PM me with your email, I'll send you some fairly useful links. As far as Fabric, it closes at 5AM Saturdays and 7AM Sundays, usually. Also, as far as messageboards to keep up with the scene in London, try this one: http://bedrock.org.uk/socialise Nowhere near as many people post there as here, but it can be useful. The second most popular club in London now is The End. They bring in Laurent Garnier, Layo and Bushwacka, Derrick Carter, Plump DJs, DJ Sneak, Steve Lawler on a regular basis. Bedrock is also great, but that's not every month. The next Bedrock party with Diggers is in February. Best party night IMO is Tyrant at Fabric, which is once a month. Garnier is also not to be missed. Other clubs in London include Cargo, Junktion, Ministry of Sound, Turnmills. There are smaller parties here and there also. For bars, go to the Soho area. I'm living here for at least 2-3 years, so if you have any questions, hollar.
