  1. Funniest thing was his age - is he even old enough to drink yet??? Won't be having much of a trip to Vegas if he can't get served. And no wonder he is hating on NJ clubs - they probably won't let him in with his fake ID.
  2. Aye, it's a pretty good deal. I miss my local club back home (Mango in Reading) - an Oasis amongst a lot of shite! But I've had some blinding nights out here, so can't complain.......
  3. That's why I didn't mention Avalon - I've not been, so can't comment. I've always been put off by the comments about the crowd, plus the music doesn't seem to be to my tastes.
  4. I was lucky as my company sponsored me, so I am over here on an intra-company visa for 3 years. I can extend it if I want and my company wants to keep me. Applying for a Green Card sounds like a right pain in the arse, so it's unlikely that I'll bother doing that.
  5. I've been living over here from the UK for about a year now, and what I've found is that like with most places you'll always get an off night wherever you go. I've had a cracking couple of nights at Crobar when the music was spot on, but the crowd was a bit dodgy. Spirit definitely has a great system, and I had a great time for Fanciulli there, but the crowd was terrible. Howells on the other hand was unbelievable for both. You're on holiday - I'm sure you'll have a great time whatever you decide to do. Pick a dj you like and make the most of it - NY is class and you shouldn't be disappointed!
  6. I heard Hernan Cattaneo at Mezzanine when I was over there last year. Not a bad place, but was a bit quiet for a Friday night. Went to Ruby Skye on the Saturday which was a much nicer club, but the music wasn't as good.
  7. Sorry nmn I really must try harder to be just like you ?!? dick
  8. I might try one of these months - I like to have a drink or two when I go out, which means catching a train into the city - pain in the arse! Not so bad when it is all night and you have a couple of days to recover, but playing with spreadsheets in the funfilled world of finance isn't half as fun when you've had no sleep and/or have a hangover. Been there way too many times before and have finally learnt my lesson..........
  9. It might be a stupid question, but why is this always on a Sunday??? I'd like to check it out, but work on Mondays doesn't really make it practical?!
  10. I only made the decision to go after a few cheeky after work beers, and I'm glad that I did. Wasn't sure what to expect from him or the crowd (hated the crowd last time at Spirit), but was pleasantly surprised by both. Music was great in places and everyone seemed to be having a good time. My legs are regretting it now, but I'll get over it............
  11. Apart from the Heineken, I wouldn't wash my bike in any of those!
  12. It was just a bit odd for me the first few times I went clubbing over here to see it. I'll even admit to laughing at some of them, as it reminded me of when we used to do "breakdancing" at school discos in my youth. But like I said, each to their own. That's the beauty of music and clubs - affects people in different ways and allows everyone to express themselves how they want.
  13. Maybe I haven't been to the right clubs back home, but I have only really noticed people dancing like this since I moved over here?? Maybe it's a US thing?? Everyone standing around in a circle watching somebody else strut their stuff just tends to annoy me....... Each to their own I guess?
  14. They used to do this in my student union back at university every now and again. Definitely drew a crowded bar when they had it, but not sure how long the gimmick would last.
  15. I'd like to hear Sandy Rivera again. Saw him the UK just before I moved over here and had a quality night, but in the year I have been here I haven't heard of him playing anywhere in the city?? Anyone know why this is??
  16. I've never got around to listening to Tiesto before, but as I try to listen to Essential Mix and Tongy each week to keep up to date with back home, I thought I'd give him a whirl. After looking at the reviews on the BBC site it is clear that he is definitely a love him or hate him kind of dj, and I think I have to fall into the latter category after listening to this. Headache inducing is how I would describe it, and as for the violin player - please don't give up the day job - woeful! Anyway, each to their own, glad you enjoyed it, just not for me..........
  17. I heard Yousef open up for Morillo at one of his Subliminal parties at Pacha a couple of years ago, and it was probably my best ever clubbing night. Awesome stuff. Saw him again at one of his Circus nights in Liverpool aswell later that year and had a blast. Unfortunately I am heading back to the UK for a few weeks, so will miss all the fun and games, but would heartily recommend to all. Morillo would be good, but have a feeling it may turn into a bit of a mare at Spirit due to overcrowding. This may be a better alternative. Anyway, enjoy if any of you go.............
  18. LOL - exactly what I was thinking. From the sounds of it Silverbull is about 60 and started the whole scene! Nice response though Silverbull, I can appreciate that you have always been into the music, it's just that sometimes it comes across as if you have been going out for the last 20 years, but have hated any dj that has changed his style in the last 5 years.........
  19. Somebody described it as funky tech house, which I guess is a reasonable description. I can see why some people wouldn't like it, but I really enjoyed it. Crowd pretty much sucked, and I didn't really like Spirit as a venue, but the music kept me dancing, so each to their own.
  20. For those that missed this, shame on you! Quality night! Music was spot on for nearly the entire night - each time I considered leaving Nic dropped yet another brilliant tune. Unbelievable sound system, actually had goosebumps at one point when the bass kicked in. Loved the washing machine track. Pete Tong played it on the Essential Selection on Friday afternoon too, and I was actually thinking how bizarre the lyrics were. But the tune is awesome! Favourite tune of the night was at 4.45am though, but unfortunately I have no idea what it was. Sounded kind of like a 70s theme rehashed. I turned to my mate and said this is going to be fucking huge, and he just said "it already had been". So I don't know if it was a remix of an older track. Stupidly I forgot to ask what it was and now he can't remember. Please, if anyone has any ideas then let me know?!?!?! Only downside for me was the number sleazy asian guys. By no means do I want to put them all in the same bracket, but we were with a couple of asian girls and spent half the time trying to stop them getting harrassed. Not ideal when there was dancing to be done....... Other than that, a great night, Bill & Nic we salute you, and roll on next time!!
  21. I moved over here from the England last year and I still get confused looks at some of my British phrases. Don't worry, they have plenty of their own sayings/slang that'll make you laugh too - to hear someone say "sweet" without a hint of irony still makes me chuckle. Anyway welcome, it'll be a good move for you - good fun over here...........
  22. thanks - so should be a good night overall. Looking forward to it.......
