Clubs sometimes hire pretty girls to just "go" by themselves, and they seem to be pretty safe...and they dress like total sluts too. As long as you are more or less sober and you don't go to a guido club (spirit) but somewhere a little classier you shouldn't have a problem by yourself, go for it! I can relate to you though...all of my friends like rap clubs and don't like staying out past 3...I have dragged them to EDM clubs before but I normally have a better time when I go solo - but I am a guy so its not the same.

I am thinking Ikon for me - I went there two weeks in a row so far and saw a huge difference in just one week so I think this sat will be off the hook. By the way, does anyone know what those green bracelets get you there? The dude with the facepaint who is usually at the door came up to me while I was on the mainfloor and gave me one and said "this gets you anywhere." I was assuming its some kind of VIP type of thing but I didnt know they had any restricted areas in Ikon...any know?

So this Saturday Avalon has G&D while Ikon has Frankie Bones...and I can't decide where I would rather go. I really like Ikon, and had an awesome time on 8/28. On the other hand I like the stuff I have heard thats by G&D....they have done some hot remixes. But what I have heard from Frankie Bones is tight also. Anyone have any input or planning to go to either?

You can always make one yourself. A GOOD one will take you about a full day to make but its worth it. I made one myself and it has not failed me yet. But with the whole post 9/11 and anti-identity theft thing nowadays, it makes a lot less worthwhile for those that used to make them for money. I know I would never make one for someone, no matter how much they offered me. NJ can be very easily forged, so that's a good place to start. If you want to get past the scanners, then your ID has to be either from GA, WY, NJ, or Manitoba because those don't scan (although it is really not that difficult to make an ID scan). Good luck.

$7 for beer if I recall correctly. I went there once, and what looked like the VIP lounge had a bunch of people that looked too fat to dance for a period of longer than 10 minutes. So they just sat there. I could be wrong though, I am sure ItalianP will clarify this.

I have been to 6 clubs so far in NYC and only one of them scanned (avalon), and 3 of the places I went to didnt even ask to see my ID (I am 19). When they do scan, the machine reads the barcode or the mag stripe on your license and displays your encoded age and if the ID is expired or not. It usually also stores the information encoded there (like address) into a database for marketing use. I am assuming you have a fake ID and thats why you are posting, so if you go to a place that scans, your ID has to be one of the following: A. a real ID of someone that looks like you B. a really good fake that scans C. a fake from either NJ, GA, or Wy because those don't scan. I would assume though that if you have really big boobs, they would let you in no matter how bad your fake is .

IMO if a place has a "DJ" that spins CD's they are better off if they save some $$ and just hook up a full IPOD on random playlist mode to the sound system, because the DJ won't be any better. I am sure many will disagree with me, but out here in CT the DJs are mostly CD playing and it was like an orgasm when I first heard a good DJ spin some vinyl.

I think it depends on his interests. If you want to hear good EDM, then Ikon is the best 18+ choice. If you would rather go to a place that gets more or less packed but can tolerate less than decent EDM, or like hip-hop, latin, or 80's music then webster is the best 18+ choice. A plus side to Ikon is that you can get in free before 12:30 on fridays and 11:30 on saturdays, while you have to always pay for webster.

Were you with that little blonde girl in white pants that was tearing up the dancefloor? I was easy to spot because I was the tallest guy there lol(6'5)...most of the time I was dancing with my ex-girl and her friend.

Kevin Saunderson in the main room was great, he was dropping some sick beats. The sound system was perfect: loud enough to make you want to dance but not loud (and bassy) enough to make your drink jiggle in your mouth and make you choke (ahem, spirit) and the lighting was good too. Staff was pretty cordial and even were kind enough to tell me that the ATM inside charges $5 surcharge while the one by the door charges $3. The mainroom also had lots of paid dancers in fancy costumes. What really sucked though was that the main room never filled up. There were a couple of points in the night when it looked like it was going to fill up, but it never materialized. The terrace was nice and was playing spanish themed house when I was there, but it didn't have too many poeple either and was a bit ghetto. The hip-hop room was the most packed, but it was also the smallest - it was *really* ghetto, it looked like Ikon didnt have any dress code rules. A beer also cost me $11 there, which is a bit pricey for a venue of this type. Overall, it is a really nice venue with good music but not enough poeple comming to it. It was kindof sad, because the DJ was 100x better than JP and JP always gets a packed house. I really hope that when GK promotes this thing more they will get a packed house, because it has lots of potential and I would love to go there again if they got some more poeple.

Avalon is 18+ only for the ladies, 21+ for guys.
